On arrival, easy to park. Went into the front bar area to check in. Greeted and checked in asked if we wanted breakfast we asked for prices and told various options available, but not forthcoming with options. ( A menu would of been helpful). Directed to the accommodation which was back outside, next door. The main front door was opened by key , but only realised later that the same key opened room door, so potentially all accommodation can be opened by same key. We had booked room with river view (room 6) which was lovely, spacious and very welcoming. Four poster bed was very comfortable and nice bathroom. Room was a little dark would be helpful for a light on the desk/dressing table. We did opt for breakfast as menu in the room , good choice and reasonable prices. We chose to stay in the bar/restaurant and have an evening meal, lots of choice and we had mains and dessert which were generous portions and tasty. The whole stay was lovely and would return. The only negative would be the staff were polite but quite automated not much showing of a personality with non locals.

I stayed at the Corbet Arms for one night as a family party was held there. It is situated in a quiet and pleasant village with easy access by car (and probably by bus) to Shrewsbury, an historic and delightful town. I arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon when the garden catered well for the many family lunch groups. Extensive parking. The guest rooms are in a secure "annex" attached to the main building (shown to the right of the hotel photo). There's no lift - my room was on the top floor - but that wasn't a problem. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and there was a wonderful view of the River Severn. As for (minor) improvements: - With only one bedside light, another is needed for double occupation; - Shelving and / or cupboarding is needed in the bathroom as there's nowhere convenient to put anything The food at the hotel is highly rated. I had a very good breakfast if lacking a little in choice and presentation. A side plate would be handy ! I'd stay again.

Lovely overnight stay at the Corbet Arms. Arrived early evening to sit at a sunny picnic table on the banks of the Severn. Good selection of beers, wines and especially gins. Had a decent meal at the upper patio, comfortable room and decent breakfast with cooked meal options. Really a little gem with excellent vfmoney.

We booked two rooms. One was clean and beautifully appointed. The other had trash from the previous guest by the tv. The window area was covered with dead bugs and the carpet was not vacuumed. The breakfast was average.

The hotel itself looked lovely on arrival — clean, nicely decorated, and generally welcoming. However, our experience was seriously let down by a major hygiene issue. We woke up in the morning to find dozens of flys and mosquitos on the ceiling of our room, which was extremely off-putting and honestly quite disturbing. This had not need noticed upon arrival as we quickly got ready to go out. If it had been we would have asked to change room. This completely ruined what could have been an enjoyable stay. For a hotel of this standard, we would expect basic cleanliness and pest control to be a priority. Very disappointed and unfortunately wouldn’t return unless we were assured the issue had been addressed properly. Currently scratching phone stop.

We stayed in a triple room with kitchen. It was spacious and had good air con, which was needed, as window opening was small in bedroom and locked in the kitchen. The oven was not clean and there was thick dust on bedframes and lamp fittings. The toaster did not work. The position of the hotel was lovely, in a small village, but a short drive to Shrewsbury. The park and ride at Halscott was a great help, as Shrewsbury is very busy and parking expensive - if you can find a space. We enjoyed our stay and would return, but it was not "exceptional" in my humble opinion.

Lovely clean room with everything I could need including an iron and ironing board. Beautiful view of the garden and river from my window. Both the dinner and breakfast were tasty and well cooked, huge portions, you won't come away hungry.

Excellent stay. Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room. Help to get luggage to your room. We had room 10, nice and large extremely comfortable and clean. Negative for us of a certain age, lots of stairs to climb. Next time we book will try and get a room on the lower floor. Lovely range of beers and wine to choose from. Lots of choice in the menu each evening and food very well presented and resonably priced.

Stayed for 2 nights in a river view room. Whilst the room was on the small side this was not an issue as the view was amazing. Everything we needed was provided and the room was imaculate. Food was pub themed and very tasty. Staff were very friendly and we won't hesitate to return sooner rather than later.

Before I start the review I confess a few of the negatives are very much my own fault, but wish to ensure others don’t make them as well. We were looking for a nice theatre break in Shrewsbury. Based on my search criteria this hotel came up. Seeing the very good scores, the outside view of the hotel and the picture of the room I booked it. When we arrived it was obvious I’d cocked up. It was nowhere near Shrewsbury, but about a 25 minute drive away. We’d hoped to be able to walk into the town which was obviously not viable. When I asked at reception about taxis I was told it was possible but were not very reliable. Consequently I had to drive into town for a meal and the theatre. The room was huge. King size bed with a single, dinning table and four chairs, plus a fully equipped kitchen to boot. The room was spotless but had a clinical feel to it. Not very homely. Plus the creakiest bed I’ve ever know. In summary if you’re on business this is absolutely ideal. For a couples away trip in Shrewsbury there’s much better options.

Property was very clean & very comfy beds. What we didn’t like was that we were woken by staff outside our room the following morning laughing & chatting loudly. Maybe staff should wait to clean rooms until all guests have checked out as we took the opportunity of having a lie in as check out was by 11am !!

Staff were very polite and helpful. Room was lovely and we had a very enjoyable evening meal. Breakfast the following morning was delicious.

Excellent stay. Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room. Help to get luggage to your room. We had room 10, nice and large extremely comfortable and clean. Negative for us of a certain age, lots of stairs to climb. Next time we book will try and get a room on the lower floor. Lovely range of beers and wine to choose from. Lots of choice in the menu each evening and food very well presented and resonably priced.

The Corbet Arms was perfect! The staff was awesome!! I cannot say enough how kind, responsive and over the top helpful they were. Also, my room was beautiful, comfortable and super clean.

Check in was a bit confusing. Go to the bar. We were on the 3rd floor so carrying all the luggage up ourselves was really difficult. We didn’t eat the food there as opted to go into town so can’t comment on that. Clean facilities but quite dated. Nothing close by which is quite nice but do have to drive into town if you don’t want to eat at the restaurant.

I stayed at the Corbet Arms for one night as a family party was held there. It is situated in a quiet and pleasant village with easy access by car (and probably by bus) to Shrewsbury, an historic and delightful town. I arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon when the garden catered well for the many family lunch groups. Extensive parking. The guest rooms are in a secure "annex" attached to the main building (shown to the right of the hotel photo). There's no lift - my room was on the top floor - but that wasn't a problem. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and there was a wonderful view of the River Severn. As for (minor) improvements: - With only one bedside light, another is needed for double occupation; - Shelving and / or cupboarding is needed in the bathroom as there's nowhere convenient to put anything The food at the hotel is highly rated. I had a very good breakfast if lacking a little in choice and presentation. A side plate would be handy ! I'd stay again.

Before I start the review I confess a few of the negatives are very much my own fault, but wish to ensure others don’t make them as well. We were looking for a nice theatre break in Shrewsbury. Based on my search criteria this hotel came up. Seeing the very good scores, the outside view of the hotel and the picture of the room I booked it. When we arrived it was obvious I’d cocked up. It was nowhere near Shrewsbury, but about a 25 minute drive away. We’d hoped to be able to walk into the town which was obviously not viable. When I asked at reception about taxis I was told it was possible but were not very reliable. Consequently I had to drive into town for a meal and the theatre. The room was huge. King size bed with a single, dinning table and four chairs, plus a fully equipped kitchen to boot. The room was spotless but had a clinical feel to it. Not very homely. Plus the creakiest bed I’ve ever know. In summary if you’re on business this is absolutely ideal. For a couples away trip in Shrewsbury there’s much better options.

Lovely clean room with everything I could need including an iron and ironing board. Beautiful view of the garden and river from my window. Both the dinner and breakfast were tasty and well cooked, huge portions, you won't come away hungry.

The hotel was welcoming , lovely location backing on to the river. We had booked a meal in the evening, restaurant manager was excellent at his job and meal lovely. Breakfast good, not a lot of choice. And had to go and ask for side plates for toast (my preference)but very accommodating. Will definitely stay again

Room was excellent. We stayed on a Sunday night and they finished serving food at 1830 which was earlier than we hoped. Wasn't much choice for vegetarians. Otherwise fine.

Stayed for 2 nights in a river view room. Whilst the room was on the small side this was not an issue as the view was amazing. Everything we needed was provided and the room was imaculate. Food was pub themed and very tasty. Staff were very friendly and we won't hesitate to return sooner rather than later.

This is basically a 'pub with rooms'. But the rooms are exceptionally nice. Lovely big bed without the join down the middle (you know what I mean - two singles bolted together...), comfy chairs and a lovely soft carpet (I said it was the little things). But while I'm on the subject, proper mugs, proper glasses (not plastic cups), and decent biscuits (not the standard ones that all hotels seem to have). Food in the restaurant? Pub grub - but very well cooked. Good wine list too. All in all, a very nice place to stay, I'd be happy to go back.

Good stopover on way to Snowdonia. Nicely sized room which was clean and good quality linen/towels. Needed to ask for new batteries for the remote control after realising they weren’t working and staff were able to replace them without much delay. Good size bathroom too.

Fantastic stay, evening meal was lovely, the room was really comfortable especially with the air conditioning. When you check in it's best to book a table as we didn't and it was a Monday but luckily they had one table left so managed to eat something which was lovely.
