Food is if a really good quality. Drinks are quite pricey, but the area & ambience makes up for that

Lovely friendly pub in an excellent location

This is a really nice old fashioned pub style accomodation but has a really good chef and therefore very good food. Slightly above the average price but well worth it. However there are other local options for dining. The room overlooked the bay and you could see surfers in the distance along with the small harbour. The famous Lynton to Lynmouth railway is just round the corner and well worth a trip for the spectacular views. Will definitely go back at some point.

We have always loved the Rising Sun but it’s under new ownership and is clearly under staffed these days: only one stressed waiter at dinner and one stressed waitress at breakfast. The breakfast menu has no mention of a vegetarian or vegan option and only if you ask do you discover there are veggie sausages available. You can no longer buy local beers at the bar either which for me is a great shame.

Lovely hotel and restaurant. Great location and view. Very pleased with stay.

Beautifully situated within easy walking distance of shops/walks/harbour and beach. Room 16 was small, which is expected in an old building, but was characterful with great sea view. The thick walls made it very cool on a scorching day. Only downside was bath could do with a shower curtain and car park gets very busy and is 5 min walk. Enjoyed the food in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner. Would stay again.

Lovely quirky place. Super bar and dining room. Loved the view, the uneven floor in our room, the quaint stairs, the helpful staff. The shower was wonderful. The only negative is that the bed was too narrow. I think it was a basic double and we're used to having king or superking when we stay in a hotel. Not massively important, and it didn't spoil our stay, but would have liked a vegan full English breakfast option. Hope to stay again in the future.

Ideal location in the middle of the village on the harbour side. Fantastic view from my window. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and well run. Good cooked breakfasts. Would definitely stay again.

We booked a two night stay at the Rising Sun. Our room was lovely, very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable & bath was incredible, well worth a soak. The food was very nice, although quite expensive if I am honest, I would expect to pay prices like that in a restaurant, not a pub. The staff were very friendly, although appeared under pressure at times.

It was very olde worldy with wooden beams and the bedroom was very clean with a lovely view of the sea. First stay at The Rising Sun and would definitely go and stay again.

Lovely little pub beautful views . since its been taken over standards have slipped . cleaning of the rooms not up to much .

Great food at the hotel but the value for money isn’t great! The hotel is clean but dated.

Very friendly and helpful staff they gave us a warm welcome, I chose a sea view and it was wonderful the room was very clean and a comfortable bed , breakfast included and it was tasty and plenty to choose from I would definitely recommend this hotel for the great hospitality and the area is very stunning. I visited 20th June and it was very quiet and peaceful well worth a visit .

The property was listed as old and quirky property. This is fine but what struck me firstly was the smell of dirty carpets, (Similar to what I have experienced before at cheap Blackpool style B&B's). The décor looked tired and was not clean. There were AA award plaques on the walls which I suspect must have been from many years ago. Overall this the place has had a tired and in need of renovation feel (plus the smell of course). This was supposed to be 14th century building which is fine, but this does not excuse the condition of the place. Some interior doors were plywood! and unpainted. The food was ridiculously expensive and was in no way value for money. (The steak I had came with dried out chips and not much more, for neraly £30.00! Really!), oh and plus of course £5.00 service charge. When we arrived we were given a room with a bath which was about three or four foot high and could not be easily accessed. In fact I would go as far as to say that this was dangerous especially when wet. When I put this to the staff they said they were awating some steps. What are they thinking of putting such a bath in there in the first place?The selection of beers in the bar was appalling without of the usual backup of common lagers and beers that people can drink instead of the local brewery stuff. Breakfast was usually OK, with the exception of our last day when it was completely hard, dried out and inedible. The rooms were clean and did not smell. The staff were courteous.

Good stay, cold room on arrival but sorted with portable heater. Spacious room and bathroom and great food.

Very comfy room with large bed and big walk in shower with rain and normal shower head. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided daily as well as room cleaning if required. Great cooked breakfast and staff very pleasant. Would stay again. Very convenient and within walking distance of all amenities.

We had such a lovely stay. Great location and very quaint. The only negative, the bathroom would have benefitted from a shower versus bath.

Accommodation and evening meal excellent! Marked down due to the fact the Chef was ‘off’ for breakfast service and had to go to a nearby hotel for a sub standard breakfast and cold coffee!

The property is in a great location and the staff especially Maria super helpful.

The accommodation was good. Excellent shower and view. Just wouldn’t eat an evening meal there again. Ran out of so many things, it was embarrassing for the young waitress.

Our evening meal was very average, pasta dish poor and breakfast very limited. Staff very friendly, helpful and polite. The bed in our room was very small, although the room could accommodate a larger bed.

Good choice of food , we had the full English and my only comment would be , could the sausages be browned, they tasted amazing but looked a little anaemic. Overall. Everything was lovely and we would be happy to stay again.
