My daughter and I stayed at this Inn for a girls weekend and it was a perfect way to kick off our fall weekend. From great service to delicious breakfast everything was taken care of.

Stayed 2 nights

We checked into The Cornell Inn on Sat, Sept 19, and were directed to our room, K14, in a separate building. Unfortunately the room had a rat infestation….with considerable rat feces and dried urine on the bed, furniture and floor. Lindsay, the front desk attendant, was very apologetic and offered us the only other room available, a 3-story suite. But we had to decline her offer as we have mobility and balance issues, so maneuvering 2 flights of stairs with luggage is not an option. As a side note, my wife and I are in our early 80’s and I’m on VA disability (60%). Hence, we do not make reservations in hotels that do not have elevators. I advised Lindsay and Jean, the other front desk attendant, that we had to move on from the Cornell Inn. As our room was prepaid I asked for a refund. They both stated that they were not authorized to issue one, but that they were notifying upper management of the incident and one would be issued promptly. Since then I have called numerous times and sent several emails regarding my refund…..with NO replies! Nothing! Zilch! So, I’m working with my credit card company and Hotels.com to secure my $1,100 refund. The Cornell Inn has a lovely web site, but “caveat emptor”….translated “let the buyer beware!”

This is very much like a quaint bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. My room was in a very old house modified to accommodate paid guests. Now, if that appeals to you, this is a great option. Unfortunately, it did not appeal to me, and the fault was mine--not the people who own and run this establishment. I should have done a much better job investigating before booking this property. I have nothing but good things to say about the hostess and other employees... I messed up, not them.
