Duna Garden Hotel

Caveat: "We stayed in a room which hasn't yet been updated, so the other rooms might be better" The "AC" was atrocious, we had our 1 year old with us and we all struggled through the night in a sweltering room. There was no way (that worked) to control it so we assumed it was controlled centrally. The room was a good size but dated. The curtains let in too much light. The bathroom, in particular the shower area was mouldy and not what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. However the toiletries provided were adequate although the towels were pretty thin. Breakfast was just ok, nothing to boast about and not worth €15 by any stretch. However the communal areas, the river views and surrounding area were beautiful to look at and walk around and the staff especially the Breakfast staff working today (17/05/26), were a delight, great with our 1 year old and very helpful and professional. So much so, it almost made up for the disappointing overnight stay.

The rooms are poorly insulated against sound : I could hear the person in the next room over snoring and all the traffic in the hallway was very audible.

The atmosphere was easy and friendly. The space is attractive and breakfast is generous.

The receptionist (who checked me in) was rude, like I should be grateful to stay there, bad attitude. The room stank like drain, regardless I left the room with the bathroom vent on, when I got back like 10 hours later it was worse. Urine stains on the toilet, curtains had holes in them, had to force the window open. Only 2 options for pillows, a giant one which feels like you have your neck in a 90 degree angle, or a tiny square one. I've stayed here before, but I was upstairs and it was great, however the same receptionist had the very same attitude at that time too. No smell tho. I'm sure a 4 star hotel could do better.
