Spacious hotel and grounds with tree lined drive, large gardens and plenty of parking. The rooms were spacious and airy, the bar/restaurant had a welcoming feel and the food was lovely. All the staff were pleasant and cheerful, made our Peak District trip very memorable. Highly recommended, will definitely be staying here if visiting the area again.

Excellent service. Nothing was too kuch trouble for the team. The breakfast was plentiful and the choice of beverages at the bar, vast. Within a 25min drive of Alton Towers, so it was ideal for our visit. Would book again with a second thought if in the area.

What an excellent place i will be returning and staying in these quaint but rustic and beautiful hotel. The rooms were bigger than an average size, the bar and restaurant was wonderful sitting next to a slow burning fire just like the good old days as a child. Food was exceptional the staff were second to none and couldn’t do enouh for you. Breakfasts were plentyful and hot.

A chance find enroute to meetings. Good food and beer and a warm welcome, comfortable quiet room. All you would need for a one night stop on business. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again when im next in the area.

Used as base for seeing dales. Dog was welcome. Food good. Service good. Useful for outside door to take dog out and the wooded area provided a nice run. Plenty of parking.

There's very little not to like about this place. It's easy to find, plenty parking, decent bar, decent food, clean, fairly comfortable (even for a large unit such as myself!) spacious rooms, decent shower, all the usual equipment although no USB sockets or 240V outlet in bathroom. Of particular note - Great staff and Custard Creams in the rooms! I'll very happily stay again.

Wonderful staff, good rooms with comfy beds. Included breakfast was great but a little cheeky to add an extra cost for hash browns and mushrooms. There was a pretty grim smell of sewage that flowed in intermittently, not great when you need the window open to get some needed cool air! Likewise, the WiFi just did not work.

The reception staff were excellent just one or two of the restaurant staff could have been a bit more welcoming and smiled a bit more. All meals were excellent in taste and quantity. The daily roast was delicious but always beef or turkey i.e. no lamb or pork. We often found the restaurant and hall ways far too warm and our bed covering too heavy. The bottom shower door rubbers were very full of mould which wasnt nice to look at. Parking and location were very good. Overall good value.

Our stay was lovely apart from a couple of issues. There was no fan/air con so it was pretty hot during the night so had to sleep with the windows open. Another issue was the fact that the shower was boiling hot despite the fact that we had it set on cold/lowest setting. We spoke to the receptionist on leaving to inform them about it and was told there is a knack to getting the right temperature, apparently you have to start with just cold and then add hot which is what we doing in the first place so not very helpful for future guests.

Given the excellent reviews/rating I was disappointed. The welcome was lovely - can't fault the greeting or help from the front desk. However, room 7 was very tired and very noisy - any movement in corridor or neighbouring rooms - sounded like it was in the room.

This looks a lovely place, very picturesque. However, be warned that this property is next to a train line and a caravan park. Extremely noisy. We had no sleep. Even left without eating breakfast as that fed up!

Check-in was easy with helpful staff. Our room on the ground floor was very comfortable large room with King size bedding. A TV was provided in the room but was not used. The wifi was very poor during our stay (afternoon in particular) as it would continue to drop our every 3 to 4 minutes, but that may be caused by other issues outside the control of the hotel. Otherwise a good comfortable hotel to stay in.

The hotel is perfect for stays for a few days. Great quick service. Free car park with lots of parking. The only bit which needs much improvement-Breakfast is very disappointing n too little. Server also don’t smile or talk.

Very nice olde worlde pub at the front, in a nice village location, on a main road. Plenty of parking, nice tranquil location. The room looked a little bit dated, and i thought the layout of the bathroom was a little odd, but it was all very functional, and the bed was amazingly comfortable! Possibly the best bed I've ever slept in! I woke up to birdsong, feeling totally refreshed! also the restaurant was great, I had a fantastic steak, again one of the best I've ever had!

The location was perfect for us. It is halfway between home and my Father's house. We needed to be there early morning, so rather than set off at the crack o' sparrows, we decided to take a leisurely drive up the B roads of Britain during the afternoon and stay here before zipping up the next morning after a good night's sleep and a full English with only an hour and a half's drive. The rooms are basic but fantastically clean. We were in room one which overlooks the entrance door and outdoor seating area. It didn't bother us because we were only in the room for a short time before sleeping and the hotel was quiet anyway. Had it been a weekend and we wanted an early night I can imagine it would have been a whole different story. Sadly the mattress is the only thing that let the room down. We could feel every spring (no memory foam here). We didn't have dinner so can't comment on that, but we did have breakfast which was a bit of a let down but was included in the price of the room. Outside it is immaculate with plenty of seasonal flowers giving it a splash of colour.

The room was clean, paint work to be desired. The staff were friendly in the bar, our evening meal was fabulous but I guess our expectations were set too high as the breakfast was hugely disappointing. It was busy but it was disorganised chaos. Shame really but we would recommend the evening meal

nice hotel used for an Alton towers trip, Rooms could do with a bit of a glow up but they were big and comfortable, good bar/restaurant with excellent options, all the staff we encountered were all lovely. Would recommend and stay again!
