Location, self-catering facilities, outdoor area, family room, spacious bathroom, helpful staff. Heater in unit. also toaster and electric jug. We were happy with the facilities. There was condensation and the bed sheets felt itchy but we did not find any insect bites.

Quite a shock to the system when we arrived. The whole place was shabby and felt unclean. The sink leaked in the bathroom, although Hutiner tried his best to fix it, it still leaked..The 'hot' tub was cold and I wouldn't have used it had it been hot, as it also was old and unwelcoming. The photos on the website make the place look so much better than it is. The whole place was dirty, tired and old. My recommedation would be to stay somewhere else.

Un petit hotel de passage. Pour une nuit ca va, mais comparé aux photos, il ny a pas grand chose a voir. Gros probleme d'humidité dans la chambre (gouttes au plafond et coulures sur les murs) machine a laver en panne, sale ou abîmé, beaucoup de bazar dans la cour (vieille caravane avec des tas de débris...) bref, on dirait que les proprios ont jeté l'éponge et font le minimum syndical.

Lack of off st parking, wooden appleboxes as bedside furnature, some longer term residents have drug and alcohol issues and noisey all night. Kitchen and facilities were clean. Overall not recommended.

This was my worst experience of my stay in new zealand. I had believed that i would have cooking facilities in my cabin. I was obviously mistaken as there was only the shared kitchen etc. My room was very spartan. There were no bedside cupboards or lights - just 2 upturned fruit crates. The bedding was basically clean but very tired. The pillows were badly stained and didnt smell too good so i had to wrap a towel around them before lying on them. There was just one double plug socket in the room which didnt work. There was one socket in the bathroom (high up on the wall). It worked intermittently so i managed to get a bit of charge into my mobile. There were no chairs or table in the room but there was a metal table and 2 chairs outside (a bit rusty and dirty). There was an oil filled radiator in the corner of the room (very rusty and dirty). The bathroom was clean. The shower wss clean and the water was hot. The carpet was old, grubby and stained. All in all, it wasnt a good experience. I had paid approx 175 dollars for the 1 night and was glad to leave.

A comfortable stay just for a night before catching the ferry. It is a short walk into Picton where there are eateries and bars. It was cheap and cheerful, and the gentleman on the desk was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I only made coffee in the kitchen but it looked well stocked. The room itself was a little shabby and could do with a deep clean (carpet a bit stained, cobwebs in the corners), but bedding, toilet, shower etc were all clean, and the bed was comfortable, and the room cooled down pleasantly in the evening after a warm day. My only comment would be that my room smelled quite musty - perhaps it would benefit from a thorough airing out at some point!

Le PIRE hébergement de toute ma vie de voyageur. Patron désagréable, ne disant jamais bonjour. Chambre : 1 lit, et 2 caisses en bois avec 2 lampes. Ni télé, rien, rien. Rideaux dans un état de saleté repoussant. Salle de bains et toilettes communes, nettoyée une fois par jour, donc toujours très sales. Etat de saleté effroyable, poubelles qui trainent de partout. Voir les photos en preuve. C'est une honte qu'un tel établissement puisse fonctionner. C'est plus que sale, c'est crade. Cerise sur le gâteau, les puces dans le lit. Là, j'ai craqué. Je suis parti dormir dans un autre motel, perdant ma dernière nuit dans ce bouge. A défèrencer d'urgence sur le site et à fuir.

After hours check in was simple and communicated well. They need to have the reservation and know you will be after 9:00, so let them know by 8:00 if possible. Room was quite clean and the beds were acceptable. Noise wasn't bad after the last truck left town and since we were on the last ferry to arrive in Picton. Will stay again

Convenient location for a night before catching morning ferry, but do bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper as is located on main roundabout into Picton so freight trucks braking as they head past to the ferry in the middle of the night can be disruptive.

The room was not very clean - it badly needed a vacuum and a through clean of the bathroom which amongst other things had a long hair just left on the sink. And my bed's mattress was lumpy and well past the point where it needed to be replaced. The sheets were clean, though, even if not much else was. The location was convenient to taking the ferry back north, and too shopping and food.

We stayed at Sequoia Lodge for two nights in an ensuite room. The staff are really friendly and helpful and its a beautiful setting. The room had everything we needed and was fairly comfortable. We especially appreciated the lift into town on our last day. I can imagine this place was lovely a few years ago, but its now in need of some serious TLC. Everything looks tired and run down, e.g. peeling paint, cracked windows, broken and missing bits in the shower. Its also overdue a good deep clean, especially in the bathroom and under the bed. Breakfast is advertised as 'continental' but is actually just cereal, milk, bread and spreads. This needs to be clearer in the description so that those who want/need alternatives (e.g. due to intolerance/allergy) know to bring their own food. I know this sounds quite negative, but this is intended as constructive feedback. Sequoia Lodge is a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay overall.

This was ok for the price. The room was a little cold. Turn on the heater early. I couldn't shut and secure the bathroom windows because the clasp was broken so that contributed to the cold I think.

Great wee place, about what you’d expect for a cost effective hostel. They were really helpful considering I got off the ferry at midnight. Great price, happy as! 😊

After hours check in was simple and communicated well. They need to have the reservation and know you will be after 9:00, so let them know by 8:00 if possible. Room was quite clean and the beds were acceptable. Noise wasn't bad after the last truck left town and since we were on the last ferry to arrive in Picton. Will stay again

Det lå et lille stykke fra centrum og var vel derforret billigt. Dejlige omgivelser Med bjerge og kæmpe træer. Hele to rene håndklæder og et stykke natursæbe. Rart og rent værelse. God seng. Morgenmad! Jeg kunne godt lide dette sted, men de kunne vist ikke lide mig.

Convenient location for a night before catching morning ferry, but do bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper as is located on main roundabout into Picton so freight trucks braking as they head past to the ferry in the middle of the night can be disruptive.

We stayed at Sequoia Lodge for two nights in an ensuite room. The staff are really friendly and helpful and its a beautiful setting. The room had everything we needed and was fairly comfortable. We especially appreciated the lift into town on our last day. I can imagine this place was lovely a few years ago, but its now in need of some serious TLC. Everything looks tired and run down, e.g. peeling paint, cracked windows, broken and missing bits in the shower. Its also overdue a good deep clean, especially in the bathroom and under the bed. Breakfast is advertised as 'continental' but is actually just cereal, milk, bread and spreads. This needs to be clearer in the description so that those who want/need alternatives (e.g. due to intolerance/allergy) know to bring their own food. I know this sounds quite negative, but this is intended as constructive feedback. Sequoia Lodge is a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay overall.

For the price you pay it's what you expect, it was clean so made up for the lack of. Loved the host, even came to the ferry to pick us up in his old jalopy 😆. For a one night stay it was amenable. ✌
