Kingscliff, Holland on Sea

We stayed two nights for the 2025 Clacton airshow. The hotel has good (free for guests) parking and is about a 30 minute walk to Clacton pier. Alternatively buses run along the front. We stayed in room 20 which had a Sea view on the second floor (note there are no lifts). The room was clean and tidy with cofee and tea making facilities and a TV (no fridge), also free (good) WI-FI. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and the bar was nice, well stocked and amply staffed. The bar area was nice to relax in with tables and stools and comfy chairs and setees. The restaurant was nice (best to book on arrival as it does get filled up quickly). We eat both evenings and the restaurant manager "Joshua" was very polite and attentive. Food was good and reasonably priced (note there is a discretionary12.5% service charge). We also had breakfast which was nice. I had full English but eggs and kippers plus a continental selection are available. We would definately stay there again.

Great sea front property. The garden was a fabulous added bonus. The décor throughout was beautiful. Evening food was delicious! Only moan really, was our room was too hot despite the fan being on all night, and a delivery lorry parked right outside our bedroom window to roll off barrels etc (albeit 7.45am and not 5.00am) On the whole, this is a fantastic hotel, and I would stay again and recommend others to do the same.

All of the staff I encountered were excellent. The rooms could do with a bit of a deep clean and the bed wasn’t very comfortable, but overall it was a good stay

Lovely clean room with Superking bed, good size ensuite and sea view. Good quality TV but no On demand channels which are usually standard in these type of hotels now. Breakfast was generally good apart from the cheap, tasteless bread. Dinner in the hotel was of a high standard. Overall a lovely stay and we would return here.....

Staff friendly and helpful. Bedroom and particularly the bathroom require a higher level of cleanliness and maintenance. Comfortable bed and good breakfast.

Room was not cleaned On arrival, toilet,towels dirty and no soap or shower gel even asking on several occasions. TV didn’t work and manager didn’t even have time to talk to me in regards to mistake I made on booking a future stay. Very disappointed and would not recommend. I will be putting in a complaint to hotels.com and the hotel at a higher level

Issue with a room we discovered in the morning when it was too late. I did complain at checkout as waiting for call from the manager. Stain on pillow, unable to control room temperature, poor shower pressure, my husband found the bed and pillows hard and uncomfortable.

Easy to find as it was on a main road.Checked in on time along with a few others so had to wait while one employee had to deal with guest who had no card. Our turn came and was dealt with in a proficient manner. The room was clean enough but the bathroom had cobwebs hanging from an open window which looked like they had been there quite some time.The shower was quite dangerous as I slipped and fell getting out .I pointed this out to the staff on duty who said there our bathmats provided if I had asked .As I did not know I was going to fall I did not ask . A notice could have been put near the shower that bath mats will be provided if you ask. Poor show management.

Lovely comfy bed so had a good nights sleep. The shower was ok but the mouldy mastic wasn’t a good look. The bin in the bathroom hadn’t been emptied.

Stay was okay but bed extremely hard had back pain after day two also spiderwebs on ceiling, but did love shower was very nice and very pricey on drinks

Room was lovely, overlooking the sea, very clean and tidy. Empty handwash and shower gel was replaced very quickly. As the room was above the bar it was quite noisy. Food in the restaurant was excellent, service was a bit slow however.

Good efficient check in. Room clean and well presented. Good bed, coffee and tea supplied, clean bathroom.

Nice hotel but noisy! Some of the fittings were old. Staff were nice enough but wouldn't let us check in at 1330 saying check in was at 1400. Room was small with no air con.

Firstly, the food and staff are great! The afternoon tea is amazing! The room was nice and clean and spacious with everything you need. Sadly although we paid a premium to have a sea view room, which we did so no complaint there (room 22), was directly above the bar area which had a large speaker above the bar near the ceiling therefore just below our floor. The first night I had to get up gone midnight to ask that the music be turned down. Which was done. The following evening I confirmed with the bar staff that the music would go off when the bar closed 11.30 ISH and it did. The other up and down side was there was live music on the Friday and Saturday evening which was louder than the bar music, lovely to sit down there listening to but again if in room 22 so loud there's no chance of getting a Granny nap in before dinner. Perhaps the hotel should look into improving the sound proofing in room 22 in particular. If I return I'll be more likely to go for a cheaper room at the back of the hotel and forego the sea view as it looks like most of the sea view rooms are directly over the bar and restaurant area.

They gave us room 27, ok it had air conditioning but they failed to tell us that a huge extractor fan would be switched on outside our window at 6am which woke us up. Obviously we didn’t know this until after the first night and everything unpacked so didn’t want a fuss for the next night moving rooms. What’s so sad is that they know this yet still put people in this room, would I stay again, no, would I recommend this hotel, I would have to say maybe. They should use room 27 as storage and not a room. I’m sorry to have to write this, but I feel conned, they knew this room and maybe the room next door had this noisey extractor jet engined fan and still put you it it. Shame really, actually silly ad they have lost a good review and I will certainly look for another hotel for my next visit 🙄😳

I feel that modern hotels should incorporate at least one USB charging point with its electrical points. Windows not user friendly, yes i know its health & safety but should be able to adjust a little more and more easily. No fridge, would have been nice to be able to cool water or have ice, or keep a bit of fruit fresh. No safe.

We stayed for a wedding close by. My wife and I and a friend and his partner. The hotel is actually nice but the rooms weren’t great at all. To start off with I had emailed a few times about if it’s possible to check in early due to a wedding starting at 1. I was advised to call in the morning as guests check out at 11, so they’ll need to know on the day if it’s possible, which is more than fair. I was driving up so a friend called at 11. They advised the same thing to just turn up and hopefully there’s a room. We arrived at 12:30 and was told it’s £10 per room per hour if we wanted to check in early. The issue was there was enough chances for them to mention the extra fee. If we had known, we probably would have just gone straight to the wedding venue. The second issue was our room (room 3 in case anyone visits). Was very grotty in the bathroom, with a yellow stain by the shower, and what looked like mould in the corners. The tv didn’t work, had a half broken picture with a constant whining sound. The service whilst some was very upbeat and friendly, just lacked some professionalism. We stayed for breakfast the next morning and was just left waiting at every opportunity. Got menus and they didn’t come back for ages, ordered drinks and food and waited a long time for some orange juice. Then the food took what felt like a long time. And as you can guess the same with the bill. Would we stay again, I highly doubt it.

Property was okay. Food was good. Not the most attentive staff.

I stayed with my daughter, I felt like I wasn’t treated well on check in, I listened to the interaction for the couple before me, they were offered a dinner reservation etc I was not, I was also questioned when typing in my registration with my suitcase in hand, again this didn’t happen for the couple before.

Ami at reception greeted us in a polite and helpful way. Believing the hotel had an elevator, (as I haven't visited in quite a few years,) I booked two rooms for myself and for my elderly mother who would not have been able to manage the stairs. Despite my apparent mistake and the short notice, Ami was able to provide us with a ground level room for mum. Thank you Ami! We had a very enjoyable stay as so much has been done to the hotel to make it more attractive to travellers and locals alike. It was a surprise to me to find the hotel now has a restaurant area with indoor and outdoor seating areas as well as the bar now in the lounge area, making the downstairs a very warm space to spend the evening. Our only gripe which prevented us from having a restful stay was the noise in the car park. Until late at night with visitors comings and goings and from very early morning with deliveries. This morning for example we were woken at 7.30am with the delivery of the beer barrels followed by food deliveries etc. all necessities, but below both mum and my windows which meant that we didn’t have as much rest as we had hoped for. Given it is a very large car park, I wonder if something could be done to unload deliveries away from the rooms? The stay was pleasant and I thank Kingscliff hotel as my mother’s disability prevents us from travelling to far for too long. I hope the review is helpful.

A very speedy change to an accessible room on arrival which was very spacious and quiet. For us, the overnight temperature was a bit too warm, and being on the ground floor didn't feel opening a window was a sensible option! But we managed!

Lovely stay. Only concern was the slowness of staff to clear tables in the bar area and dining room. Would walk past your table empty handed and not pick anything up.

Only stayed one night but a pleasant stay - rooms very comfortable - food in the restaurant very nice. Free parking at the rear of the hotel. Ideally situated for Walton, frinton and Clacton.

Well located beachfront hotel at the Holland end of Clacton. Well maintained and sea view rooms have a lovely outlook- great sunny garden. Even meal was excellent but breakfast was quite poor- not freshly cooked. Rooms are modern and very clean with good bathrooms. Bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and it’s poor that there is no complimentary water.

Everything about the Hotel was good, only one small complaint was an excellent breakfast was spoilt by terrible quality of sausages, so. bland and didn’t taste like a Pork sausage, such a small thing which can so easily be put right. Wouldn’t put me off staying there in the future, just wouldn’t order sausages. ,!!!

We had the superior sea view double aspect bedroom. We realky liked our accommodation The cooked breakfast was delicious and served hot which made the meal far more enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and good at their jobs. The afternoon tea was scrumptious It was our second stay and did not disappoint Will be booking again the the future

We went for a family celebration. Staff very friendly, although service was quite slow at times; they didn't seem to have sense of efficiency, as if new staff learning the ropes. Didn't matter for us because on this occasion, we didn't have a schedule. Food was delicious, fresh, full of flavour and decent portions (and we loved the homemade skin-on chips, so refreshing)

Beautiful 1927 hotel at a quiet beach. Such character. Problem was the plumbing. Water pump sounded like a jackhammer when neighbour took a shower, and constant drone with ours. Food very basic and appeared to have come from Tesco. Would be of its class with these issues resolved 😊
