The hotel is close enough to the centre to walk (about 10 mins). There is a garage available under the hotel, although it's €18 per day. Rooms are basic. There's free drinking water available. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but some coffee available in lobby at a charge. Staff helpful. Breakfast was ok.

Nice clean hotel. Easy check. Reception staff very helpful. The hotel not busy as out of season. Bar not manned and poorly stocked. Not a major issue but it is nice to have a drink after a busy day. Hotel should offer a different “pillow”service as some guests would prefer a firmer pillow. As i would. Overall nice hotel.

처음 중앙역에서 마테너하우스를 찾아가는 길을 구글에서 잘못 찾아서 많이 돌아가게 되었습니다. 그 이유는 출입구가 여러개 있으나 중앙 출입구는 역에서 가장 먼 방향에 있어서 중앙출입구를 다시 돌아서 갔기 때문입니다. 특히 한낮에 무거운 캐리어를 옮겨야 했기 때문에 더욱 멀게 느껴졌습니다. 하지만 일단 숙박을 하고 난 뒤에는 익숙함도 있고 카드키를 이용해서 가까운 출구를 사용할 수 있어 역이 훨씬 가깝게 느껴졌습니다. 건강한 아침식사-다양한 과일과 야채가 제공됨, 비교적 넓은 방 넓이, 청결할 숙소 관리, 친절한 안내 등 모든 면이 만족스러웠습니다.

It was a nice place, clean and comfortable, the room was large and had a very unique closet which was huge. The area was nice, easy walking to the Dom. My only suggestion for improvement would be that if you have a cafe-bar with signs saying open to 22:00, have someone around to operate it? We were in there for an hour hoping someone would come in but never happened and we just went to bed. I know they were around because there were others in there who were served. Small issue, otherwise a very nice place.

A very interesting hotel - it's situated very close to the city center in an old church (functions as a church and congresshall still I believe). The staff were very accomidating and the hotel had a very nice breakfast buffet. For 20 euro you can pay for parking during your stay, which is conviniently (although a little small entrance to the parking) located beneeth the church. You had to pay city tax upon checking in aswell. The location is pretty much perfect for your sightseeing tour of Cologne. I highly recommend using this hotel

Nice hotel and decent price. Room was simple and plain but good condition and clean. Stayed in worse (claimed) 4* in Germany. Didn't realise you had to hang a thing on door so room wasnt cleaned daily. No biggie but not mentioned when checking in. No fridge or mini bar. Booked 4 nights but managed a late flight after the third night so said to the receptionist i was checking out early. Mass confusion as he tried to find how to do this in his book without success.. he then told me "I'm not sure you can". Given i had paid the 4 nights and wasnt expecting a refund i laughed and said "i dont think you can stop me!" He then said he was new and only "been here year.." I bid him farewell and left.. 😂

Die Dusche im Badezimmer war mit schimmel. Hier müsste unbedingt was gemacht werden. Die Zimmer werden nur gereinigt, wenn das Schild dafür draußen hängt. Diese Info hätten wir gerne bereits beim Check-In erhalten.

I was so upset that the staff( an intern and manager) placed us in a single person room. The bathroom was stinky. I came down to the front desk at 10 to insist I need change the room to what we have to have. Fortunately there was a room left and we had a good sleep.

This is an interesting property offering tremendous value for money and is a 10-15 minute walk from the main railway station. It is basically a conference centre with accommodation for guests (or delegates). I would suggest that it's not the best option for children unless they are of the seen but not heard variety. Reception staff were both welcoming and helpful and the single room I had was clean and spacious. Wi-fi connectivity was excellent. The buffet breakfast selection was very good and plentiful. There was some traffic noise outside but it didn't get into the rooms when the windows were closed and the air-con on. I would certainly recommend it without hesitation.

We really liked the quietness and location. It was not far from the Dom and other facilities. The staff were very friendly and we really loved the breakfast options. Our room was very large and had everything we needed. We had 2 remarks about the room. De outlets only worked when pressing a switch and this turned on all the lights connected to said outlets. Furthermore, the airco was also connected to an outlet. We had to disconnect the lights if we wanted to use the airco at night. The second remark is about the airco, it makes a lot of noise. It’s not a split system, and while it does the job, we could not sleep when it was on. Opening the window was no option because of the mosquitoes.

Nice looking property huge inside . Easy to find out 10min walk from train station. Arrived about 7pm due to travelling from Munich . Given a room on 4th floor . Went out for a meal returned later. Was awoken about 5am when cologne starts work . Dual carriageway road at back/side of property. Could not sleep again due to road noise - but went quiet about 8am. Obviously this is a city hotel so an amount of noise is a given and I noticed the windows were double glazed but probably needed more secondary glazing (for me). Room and facilities in room excellent . Breakfast good and plentiful. Looks like it’s used for large events/corporate events. If I was staying more nights I would have asked to change to an internal room but we were leaving for a flight that morning.

Good rooms, no air con but windows opened well (a bit noisy at times outside). Bed really comfy. Parking right underneath which was secure but not free. A short walk into the centre. We would stay here again.

Hotel ist nicht direkt als Hotel zu erkennen. Steht nur Bücherei an der Tür. Kammen um ca. 13:00 Uhr zum Check-Inn, Zimmer sei noch nicht fertig. Auskunft der Empfangsmitarbeiterin: Erst ab 15:00 wie auf der Homepage angegeben. Es wurde auch keine Möglichkeit angeboten das Gepäck abzustellen. Zimmer selbst war ausreichend groß und Sauber. Betten waren sehr gut. Bad/WC auch in Ordnung. Ärgerlich beim Frühstück: da es Freitag war gab es keine Wurst. Grund: Es handelt sich um ein Katholisches Hotel. Ein Hinweis auf der Homepage wäre hilfreich gewesen. Von einer Servicemitarbeiterin wurde angeboten Wurst zu besorgen, wurde dann aber doch nicht gebracht.

I stayed for 1 night in December, visiting Cologne to see the Christmas markets. The staff on arrival were very helpful, and kindly allowed me to check-in a bit early. The room was very clean, lovely bathroom and a kettle was provided on request! Breakfast was also very good, I arrived a bit late so there wasn't as much left but that was my fault for not getting up earlier! It's only a 5 minute walk away from the cathedral and the centre of town, which was very handy. I'd definitely stay here again, thank you 😊

Due to an appointment with a client, I had to extend my stay in Cologne by one day during the Anuga trade fair. The other hotel was fully booked, so I found this one for a single night. I checked in exactly at 3:01 PM, with check-in starting at 3:00. They gave me a room—it was the farthest down the corridor and practically right above the street. The room was cold (heater off), and the bathroom had a suffocating smell of air freshener and stale air. All things I could overlook. I didn’t touch anything, went back down to reception, and very politely explained that I hadn’t touched the room, but since I had an important meeting the next morning, I asked if it was possible to move to a quieter one. The answer, with a half-smile, was: “They’re all like that—Cologne is a big city.” Ah ok.... so Hong Kong is a small town. Excellent. Sleepless night. The next morning, I went for breakfast at 7 AM and had to wait for two members of the hotel staff to make their own coffee before I could make mine. Great customer care.

It was great hotel. room was nice and spacious and clean. and it’s only 10min ish walking distance from cathedral which is also where all the dining and shopping places are. check in was very easy forward, and breakfast was also very delicious. So overall, if I come to Cologne again, this would be the place for me to stay again.

Maternushaus is conveniently located within walking distance of two train stations, Cologne Cathedral, shops & restaurants & the river. The airport is a little further but easily reached by train or taxi. The complimentary buffet breakfast is extensive and tasty, catering for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. Maternushaus offers good value for money. If we visit Cologne again, we would definitely consider staying again at this hotel.

Frühstück war gut und ausreichend. Leider war nur eine Kaffeemaschine vorhanden und man musste sehr lange anstehen. Das Zimmer war sehr minimalistisch. Für zwei Personen gab es nur ein Glas/Zahnputzbecher. Die Wasserspülung der Toilette war defekt.

Frühstück weitgehend hervorragend. Aber man könnte noch die Cappucino-Bar inkludieren. Alles sehr sauber, sehr großzügig und weiträumig. Auch sehr ruhig, die Nebenzimmer sind nicht zu hören. Gute Betten, toller Schrank. Würde wiederkommen!

Very clean, comfortable bed and bedding, good bathroom, excellent breakfast, nice staff. However, website said each room had a terrace and there was a restaurant. Restaurant closed, no communal outside space either as private party there. These things were important to me as a solo traveller. Just need to ensure information is accurate to manage expectations.
