Omena Hotel Helsinki City Centre

The TV was completely non-functional, which was a disappointment. We sent both texts and emails to the property management about the issue, but received absolutely no response. It's incredibly frustrating to pay for amenities and then be completely ignored when they don't work. The overall experience really reinforced the old saying: "you get what you paid for."

My husband and I had a pleasant stay at this hotel! One of the highlights is the spacious room, which is perfect for travelers who need extra comfort. Additionally, the provision of a microwave is a great touch, especially for tourists who may want to prepare or reheat meals during their stay. For travelers like us with big and heavy luggage, the availability of elevators is definitely a bonus and much appreciated. However, we would like to suggest an improvement: adding a luggage storage space. This would be highly beneficial for guests who arrive earlier than the check-in time or need a place to store their belongings after checking out while exploring the area. It would make the experience even more convenient and enjoyable. Overall, we recommend this hotel and would definitely consider staying here again!

The beds and pillows were uncomfortable bathroom shower is so tiny that you can’t even wash your back but most of all the Wi-Fi was nonexistent. I mean it was absolutely horrible. Do not stay here if you have family at home or your own a business trip.

Buena opción por cuestiones económicas. Está muy limpio y bien situado. Es muy sobrio, pero tiene microondas y kettle con sobres de café, té y leche en polvo. Una pena que no tenga ningún artículo de aseo, ni siquiera jabón de manos. Con eso ya sería estupendo.

Okay hotel, no front desk, self check in and out. No Air conditioner. And windows are screwed shut. For safety reasons. You need to phone and ask for a window to be opened. So, I was able to open one window to let cool air inside. Otherwise the room is very hot. Too hot to sleep. You must also phone and ask for an electric fan. Lucky it was early June. The nighttime air outside cooled down. The hotel is around 15 walk from the Helsinki Central Train station.

I don’t need much for one night and this hotel is just fine for it. However, there’s always something wrong with the TV. Either they don’t check the batteries in the remote control or there’s something wrong with the system. Annoying as heck.

The location of the hotel is GREAT. It is close to Esplanade, Senate Square, Kamppi bus station, Train station. The code entry worked great and the hotel was adequate and priced correctly for a budget hotel. The only and probably a major issue we had during the stay was the lack of air conditioning. It can get quite warm inside during the summer and having no air conditioning or even a fan or have the ability to open the window made the room very stuffy. We couldn't sleep well at night because of it. I would urge the hotel to at least provide a fan if the building is not hooked up to provide central air conditioning.

Super location, and if you know what you are booking, you can hardly be disappointed for the price. Very central location with great connections to other parts of the city, and many restaurants and sights around the corner. Fully automated check-in/out, so don’t expect a reception or daily cleaning. Perfect for the budget traveler who needs a decent place to crash, but will spend most of their time out and about. It was quiet, we never heard any other guests, and were not bothered by the late night karaoke bar/pool hall just downstairs - so the walls and windows seem sturdy. There was even a microwave and a mini fridge, letting us have a heated snack. The only annoyance really was that the motion sensor in the bathroom didn’t cover the shower, so you’d regularly have to pause your showering to wave your arms a bit to get the lights back on - no biggie though. Would recommend!

The only reason I give 3 stars on staff is because there is no front desk--everything is handled through the app and text (room assignment and code to enter the building, use the elevator, and enter the room) which was no problem. I was initially worried that it would be stuffy in the room as you can't open the windows but that wasn't true. In fact the windows are extremely quiet. There was never any noise from outside. People refer to the room as ship cabin like and I agree. Split double bed, nice bathroom and an actual eating table and small refrigerator and microwave were nice. Very close to the train station and one block to the tram. Ver walkable location.

First room was too cold. We tried to call but only after trying several times we were able to speak to someone. They allowed us to swap rooms and the second room was much warmer but the TV and fridge didn’t work and we found an empty condom package beside the bed 😬 On a positive note, the room was functional and in a great location.

Under the main bed was really dirty and all surfaces in the romm were sticky, as when they are whipped with a dirty cloth. The extra beds were extremely uncomfortable, and shouldn't qualify as a bed.

The building ans room was very modern and clean. The location was near, that is walkkng distance, from everything such as malls, restaurants, and sights. The building was very secure with individual codes to get into the buildîng, the elevator, and the room.

The hotel has simple standard without reception. Check-in is done with a door code you get by a text message. Pre-registration of your passport is required. Some positive things: * Very central location. * The room was clean. * It had a fridge, microwave oven and kettle. * Coffee and tea were provided. Some negative things: * The double bed is not a double bed, but two single beds put together. * The ventilation was poor, so the room got a bit warm and smelly. * There's no electric socket next to the table, would be good when using a laptop. There's electric sockets next to the bed though. * There's no separate door code for the entrance. Meaning you can't have a guest coming to your room, unless you want to give them access to your room during all your stay.

A nice large clean room in a great location. Would be happy to recommend

Bahnhof 5 min zu Fuß entfernt und mann ist sehr zentral und kann alles zu Fuß erkundigen. Aber die Zimmer sind nicht für 4 Personen die Zusatz Betten eine Zumutung da konnten nicht mal die Kinder schlafen, dass zimmer ist extrem warm gewesen, mann kann kein Fenster öffnen nicht mal Kippen um zu lüften es war extrem Schlechte Luft im Zimmer

The perfect budget option in downtown Helsinki. The room was a good size, coffee and a refrigerator were very welcome. The beds were comfortable and it was nice having two luggage racks. Our only complaint was that the windows don’t open for fresh air and the room was stuffy and too warm overnight, in spite of it being quite cold outside. Rooms should have a fan or at least some way to control the temperature.

Large modern clean room

Was a bit concerned about the whole “no reception/well text you a code” but it worked out great. You use the code to get in the building, elevator, and your room so actually it felt quite safe. Location was fantastic. Room was bigger than most in Europe.

Booking on hotels.com did not generate check in instructions and door passcode email necessitating a 15-20 minute phone call with hotel’s customer service when we arrived at the hotel. Once that issue was resolved we were very pleased with the hotel.

Great location to centre areas of Helsinki. However, the fact there are no physical humans on reception did pose a problem. On entering the hotel one day, a new resident from Turkey couldn't get access & was on the phone 📱 to the 24hr manned reception line to get his room & access code. This phone wasn't answered at all & we had to assist the gentleman with emailing the Website with his booking reference. We also had some problems with the entry code to the front & lift which worked intermittently on a couple of days, but eventually this then worked. Also no one cleans or supplies new towels etc. The bathroom is basic & a little grubby, as was the room. Great location, but given the above issues, wouldn't stay here again. Not recommended.

El problema es que no recibimos el correo con el code para poder entrar, fue muy difícil esperar en la calle que alguien entre o salga para poder ingresar y llamar desde un número que tienen dentro.

The only issue I had was that the code I received did not work. I had to call the reception and they were quick to answer and provide me with a new code that worked.

After a turbulent start, things did get sorted and the hotel served its purpose. You are meant to receive an email with a link the night before arrival. As this is a 'staffless' hotel, you are required to submit some information before your code number is issued. This code opens the hotels main door, the interior door, the lift, and your room. I never received the link. The next day I tried to contact Hotels.com and the hotel. I couldn't get through to the hotel, and Hotels.com was as much help as a paper umbrella. You must remember, I am now walking aimlessly around Helsinki. Finally I manage to reach the hotel direct, and all was sorted within minutes. I would suggest you book this hotel direct, and not through a third party. The hotel needs your contact details in order to send you the link. The hotel is really well located in the heart of the city. Rooms are large, with a little seating area, and ensuite bathroom. They come with a large TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities, microwave, and a fridge. I'd definitely stay again, as the location and price are great. I would however book with them directly

Easy access at all moments, in the heart of the Kamppi-part of the city and still rather quiet. Good shower. Windows could not be openend to let fresh air in - that was a pity.

We stayed for one night during a long stopover between flights. The location is fantastic — very close to the central station, which makes it easy to reach the airport, and within walking distance of several major attractions. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but it has all the necessary facilities and everything we needed for a comfortable short stay.

Simple, comfortable, clean, safe, warm and quiet accommodation for a very low price. The location is only a few minutes from the train station and the Kamppi bus terminal on foot.
