Costa Rica Guesthouse

Property management needs to improve on the water supply maintenance. It is unacceptable that there's no running water to at least get a shower

I stayed at Costa Rica Guesthouse twice - the beginning and end of my solo trip because i liked it so much! The location was great for walking to local attractions and driving to the airport. The free parking was perfect. The staff was great and super helpful and the room was spacious!

I stayed in the co Worker section and was very happy. The bunk was extremely comfy . I used next door at backpackers for pool garden and kitchen area.

Everything was excellent, the only problem I noticed was the difficult entrance to the parking lot (even dangerous because of the traffic)

Free tea service has been discontinued. I bring my own tea bags so it's not necessary, but I wish they would continue to provide hot water.

We arrived after 9pm and the streets were just dark and unsafe. But the guesthouse it self was good enough to sleep. We had access to the guesthouse across the street. The environment in there was completely opposite to out in the street. It was welcoming, good food and atmosphere plus a bar with local and international drinks and a swimming pool Inside the guesthouse was great. Outside in that street I just felt unsafe

Maintenance issues with water outages and house pump not working at all times. Please fix the terrace table, it's been broken for years, as I recalled I brought this to the staff attention.

Cosas positivas: El personal es extremadamente amable, estuvimos varios días y cada día en diferentes horarios cada uno de los empleados fueron siempre muy amables. Las fotos muestran con exactitud los espacios, son muy apegadas a la realidad. El precio fue muy bueno comparado con hoteles en la zona. El servicio de lavado de ropa la recibe en la noche y la entregan ya lavada en la mañana, es muy práctico En la noche ordenamos un par de veces en Uber Eats y llegó sin problema. Si llegas temprano antes de la hora del check in, tienen un espacio para almacenar tus maletas en lo que vas a comer y te preparan tu habitación Oportunidades de mejora: El acceso al parqueo es un poquito complicado, no mucho, pero tiene sus retos bajar las maletas y regresar al parqueo porque la calle es de un sentido. Luego, cuando quieres parquear, tienes que llamar y esperar a la persona del front desk para que te abra. En el primer cuarto de la segunda planta, la ventana va a dar al patio donde la gente sale a fumar, a pesar de que nunca las abrimos a veces se metía el humo, pero casi no estábamos ahí por lo que la verdad no nos afectaba. Cuando está lleno en la noche, que la mayoría de huéspedes llegan ya a dormir, el internet se vuelve lentísimo. En general fue una buena experiencia por el precio, si necesitas dar unas vueltas en las oficinas que están en el centro de San José, que era nuestro caso, está muy bien ubicado y el precio es muy accesible.

The rooms were very clean. Staff was helpful and curteous. When a cold spell hit they found us an extra blanket, which was perfect. Complimentry coffee and hot water for tea. Helped us with our shower which wasn't providing us with hot water.

The property was well located. Very spacious room with a large bedroom. Everything was great, But unfortunately my partner and I had to kill some cockroaches in the bathroom. Not sure if this was not cleaned properly or no bug killer enough sprayed around, windows were all opened when we arrived, so not sure where it came from or if it was already there.

Always very clean room. Easy check in. Nice ambience. Quiet enough.

It is very bad. Extremely dirty, smelly with no amenities at all. Old sheets and smelly tap water

We stayed one night. Our room was spacious and clean. Beds were big. Shared bathroom was clean. Communal areas were clean. Breakfast was great. Very friendly staff

Inspected both beds after checking in and found that the smaller of two mattresses was covered with hundreds of tiny bloodstains from either a current or past bedbug infestation. We immediately left.

Bathroom is shared and is not clean Parking is limit if you get there late you may not be able to get one spot because is very limit Rooms are not the cleanest

Det ble ikke tømt søppel på rommet når vi bodde der i flere dager. Svært lytt og ekko i ganger. Opplevde en synlig kakerlakk på rommet. Ellers helt greit opphold i forhold til pris.

Staff was friendly and the property was very clean.

It was great to stay in the old section of the hostel and see the history there. Overall, appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and rooms.

Quarto quente, sem ar condicionado, nem ventilador. Peca muito na limpeza. Lençóis velhos e desconfortáveis. Staff antipática e não te dão instruções sobre o lugar durante o check in. Poucos banheiros para a quantidade de pessoas.

I was in a room facing the entrance street. The cars were noisy.

Big room, clean and handy at a good price

There is a lot of traffic noise. Not recommended for a good night sleep. Otherwise, very clean and excellent location for walking

Both windows were stuck and could not be closed even when I tried to close them.

Ampia habitación cerca del centro. Unica cosa era que el wifi no funcionaba en la habitacion y el personal no era muy amigables

Good value overall, nice staff but the bedroom’s lock looks extremely fragile and unreliable.

A pleasant stay in comfortable bed. May need a fan of it was hotter. Can't have windows open because of train and traffic noise

Errores pueden pasar pero la clave es saber cómo manejarlos. Recepcionistas con poco servicio al cliente. No había agua y la cocina esta un cochinero. Taladrando en la zona de coworking Tomaron mi alimento y los que trabajan ahí no les importo.

I think the one lady with the glasses who works in the morning shift. Her personality isn't very friendly . She never smiles and has a very dull approach which is pleasant. Otherwise the staff is good.

No taxi waiting at the airport. It was not booked in spite of written confirmation from the hotel. It caused lot of problems and lost time. There should be a confirmation from the taxi company prior the hotel confirm it to the guest.

After staying there for so many years . There were some slight issues with the rooms and staffing. But overall things got some what better. I reported that there were ants in my bathroom and bed and was hoping that they would address the issue after speaking with the lady. She offered me a different toom but i like the room because it had a balcony. I booked another night and was denied . I personally feel that after i made a review tbe yound lady who works mornings with the glasses i don't recall hwr name because she is very unfriendly and approachable it makes me very uncomfortable. She never smiles and she is very short. I even told hwr about the ants and her exact words were its a tropical country and thats how it goes. She denied my stay and told me that i was not welcomed in the future. To my knowledge i don't know of any problems or issues. I have put lots of money into that place and their restaurant. Its sadly that customer service has gone down the drain. I love costa rica guest house and was very disappointed that she has basically banned me from staying there. I am a home owner in costa rica. I basically stip in san jose to see friends and to take care of business. I wish them all the best!

I met the owner two nights before my check out. An old , aggressive, racist and misogynist man. I canceled my last night because I felt unsafe around him. If you’re a woman traveling by yourself, please avoid a bad moment and stay away from this slum.

Great location. The lady with the glass at the front desk could be a lot more approachable and friendly.

Backpacker and guesthouse share property they talk rude not nice first I park my car then they said parking is full but is not full. And the manager also talk very rude my checkout is 11 am they want me to checkout 5 am. Waste of money. I ask why you want me to check out 5am manager talk rude and not answer my ?

The area is easy to access historical points. The hotel lights...needs to be updated

Best quality/price ratio you’ll find, many tours can pick you up directly at the entrance, easy to walk to many San Jose must see spots Would highly recommend

Very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of on-site amenities, such as food and drinks. Walking distance from downtown area. Can't beat it for the price!

Good spot for an inexpensive stay in the city & a short walk to night life.

De passage pour 2 nuits,hôtel agréable,personnel sympathique.Chambre bien équipée.Possibilité de prendre une navette qui vous mène à l'aeroport.Evitez le taxi 90 euros aeroport à l'hôtel.Je n'ai pas eu la possibilité de l'utiliser pour me rendre à l'hôtel.Possibilité de prendre le repas du soir dans un local qui leur appartient,se trouvant en face.San José à très mauvaise réputation le soir.

The guesthouse is outdated in style, and the bed was uncomfortable due to its high pillow and soft, cushioned mattress. The recommended restaurant did not serve tasty food. The price of the breakfast is not reasonable at 7 dollars. Don't provide breakfast, and no air conditioning in the room. I was too hot in the room during the afternoon.

Staff is always friendly, also 24 hours is a plus. The breakfast in the morning is cheap and the perfect start to your day!! Walking distance to downtown for shopping, food, museums and transportation is in abundance.

Stanza grande per 3 persone,ottima posizione circa 1 km dal centro e desk aperto 24 ore. Buona la colazione a pagamento ed il caffè gratis tutto il giorno.

The cost was one of the lowest available on kayak search engines. The staff were great. The rooms were reasonably clean and low cost dining was across the street. Mostly well behaved college age adults were around.

I liked the room clean and comfortable. The restaurant had good options very tasty authentic Chinese food. I liked the room with pool view. Would be nice if hot tub was in operation too. Staff was helpful and courteous
