I enjoyed the ease to park as well as the voice of drink in the bar. I loved the value for money with the food and there was more than enough of it. The staff were lovely and friendly. The only downside for me was the lovely church around 80 metres away. For some reason, I could hear the bells through the night whilst the window was open. It may have been a rogue night but the bells could be heard.

This property is a pub with rooms, and is very good. The rooms are away from the bar area and there was no noise from customers leaving at closing time. The room was clean and a reasonable size. The staff were all very good, friendly and efficient. We ate in the bar at night, but there is a separate dining room too. The food was very tasty, with an excellent apple cake dessert. Breakfast is cereal and toast, with tea or coffee. This was ample to set us up for the day. We would definitely stay here again, if in the area.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Service is very good. The double room was very clean and tidy. Also quite, though you do, as someone else has mentioned previously, hear the church bells. Have to say it was not a problem for me. The room was very comfortable, a lovely view along Church Lane and across the stone cottages. It has the usual room facilities. The bathroom facilities were very good, especially the shower, as it was one of the few that I have used in hotels that did not leak onto the floor. Breakfast was continental style, quite large to be honest and includes local produce. The evening/dining food is very good, the food is fabulous. It was noted that the local residents go there to eat too. Plenty of car parking. Its a quite location well off the A303. Easy access to the two main museums locally, but also to other places of interest as well. The local village Queen Camel is also delightful, with its stone cottages. Very little traffic, so quite during the day as well as at night. Definitely would go back.

I thought, bearing the price in mind, that this was an excellent place to stay. Our room was clean and comfortable with a really nice bathroom/shower. The landlord was helpful and friendly and we have no complaints at all.

Room was reasonably clean and the beds, while a bit on the soft side, were ok. I didn't like the green safety light over the door that stayed on all night (I like a dark room to sleep) but I understand why it is there. On a plus note there was plenty of storage - not that we really needed much for an overnight stay. Kettle was full of limescale - needed descaling! All in all everything was a bit tired looking. The bathroom could certainly have done with a freshen up - mouldy grouting in shower for example. Breakfast was very basic, advertised as continental but basically it was (limited) boxed cereals and toast. There was a fruit bowl and some flavoured yoghurts, along with a bit of salami, cheese slices and cheap croissants - non of it looked very appetizing, not was it particularly healthy or of good quality. Staff we encountered were very pleasant and polite, however we couldn't find anyone to give the key to when we left. One of the reasons we chose to stay here was because it did food in the evening - unfortunately, apparently, the chef had called in sick so this wasn't an option. They were able to suggest a nearby pub, however after a long day I wouldn't have chosen to drive out again, particularly as it then meant one of us couldn't enjoy a glass of wine as someone has to drive back.

We had a lovely overnight stay here on 16/17 February. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the continental breakfast of cheese, salami, fruit and toast was delicious. We must mention the lady looking after the place for the owners - sorry that I have forgotten her name - she was super friendly and showed us the skittle alley and talked about the darts teams and the social activities they have planned. Would definitely stay here again when next in the area.

First the good bits: Location is great, staff are friendly and helpful, food was good Decor (fixtures and fittings) good Sadly let down by a couple of critical issues, may not be important to others and should be taken as my opinion The bed had seen better days, the carpets in the rooms were stained, the bathroom light was poor and the socket by the window didn't work. The cleaning cart was left on the landing all the time. The worst thing for me was i realised that the complimentary water was actually refilled, not fresh. Which then made me question the attention to detail of everything else. If you can't afford fresh bottled water, don't give it out. Breakfast was excellent

Cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed. Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Bedding with stains, old towels with stains of bleach, electric shower extremely noisy (sounded like a plane). Breakfast was included but no one to serve. At 8am we came down to have the breakfast but the bar/lounge’s door was closed, as well as the bar’s door. Tried at 8:20am and nothing; knocked the door and no response. We had to leave the inn with no breakfast. No information whatsoever about meals timings or WiFi information. Do not recommend at all. Avoid it!

We have stayed here in the past then didnt go back for about 3 years. We were pleasantly surprised the staff were very friendly and attentive there was a nice atmosphere in the bar dining area. The food and choice were good tasty and well prepared. Good choice for the continental breakfast and fresh. The bedroom had been rearranged which made a difference from before. The only let down was the shower it makes a dreadful noise when you turn it on and the pillows a little hard. Otherwise a pleasant stay and we wi be back.

Room clean and tidy however bed was broken, a wooden slat under the mattress to stop you dropping into bed base, needs a new bed in room, also advise you need a fan available in the rooms as none available in the room for hot days. Might be worth mentioning the nearby church Westminster chime carries on through the night every quarter hour, will wake you up if you have to have windows open at night. Food no complaints, however the smell of cannibis in bar area and outside due to a couple of locals smoking in the beer garden. Alright for a night but wouldn't use as a base

We had a lovely night's stay at the Mildmay Arms and were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable with a powerful shower. Our evening meal was tasty and we enjoyed our evening in the pub. The staff and the locals were really friendly. There were cold meats/cheese/cereal/yogurt and toast on offer for breakfast which was included. We thought both the room and the meal were really good value and would stay here again. I would just recommend taking earplugs as the church bells do ring during the night! This didn't bother us. Thanks for a lovely stay

A simple and modest country village pub with very friendly owners who took great pains to welcome and look after me. Arriving late, they had kept a good supper for me. The bedroom was large, clean and nicely old fashioned. The old church nearby chimed through the night but did not wake me. As I left before breakfast, the landlords left me a sandwich and apple. In no way smart and modern but with a very warm and relaxing atmosphere.

The staff were friendly, the room was a really good size and the food was beautiful. It was super warm the night we stayed, a fan would have made it more comfortable sleep but recognise this is something that doesn't happen often in the UK!

We chose the location as a stop-off enroute to Cornwall. We met the very friendly owners but unfortunately, had a slightly disappointing stay. The superior ensuite twin room was really just a standard twin room with nothing really superior about it. An armchair may have made it more comfortable, if spending more time there. The bathroom was clean with a powerful shower, but the lighting was very poor and the green emergency lights, particularly in the bedroom above the door, were disturbing at night. We had planned to eat at Mildmay Arms on the evening of our arrival, but discovered the kitchen was under maintenance so we had to travel on to another village to find a meal. We had also expected (perhaps wrongly) to have a cooked breakfast in the morning, but were told that only a 'continental' breakfast is now offered. Unfortunately, that was also rather underwhelming and we'd have done better to have breakfast elsewhere. So, in summary - a basic bed for the night. (Once the kitchen is operating, it may well be good for an evening meal, but don't expect much more than cereal and toast for breakfast.)

We had planned to eat at Mildmay Arms on the evening of our arrival, but discovered the kitchen was under maintenance so we had to travel on to another village to find a meal. We had also expected (perhaps wrongly) to have a cooked breakfast in the morning, but were told that only a 'continental' breakfast is now offered. Unfortunately, that was also rather underwhelming and we'd have done better to have breakfast elsewhere. So, in summary - a basic bed for the night. (Once the kitchen is operating, it may well be good for an evening meal, but don't expect much more than cereal and toast for breakfast.)

Great 2 night stay over the bank holiday weekend. Very friendly welcome from Rachel. Easy check-in as we'd paid in advance. Decided to eat in the pub as we'd been travelling all day, husband had the hunters chicken and said its the best hes ever had. Very large comfortable twin room with on-suite. No noise from the road or the bar heard (manager did warn us the 2nd evening might be noisier due to the bank holiday) but we never heard a thing. Sunday evening they had a bbq on rather that the menu but best bbq ever, Ben the chef outstanding food. We'd definitely stay again.

A very comfortable spacious room, you couldn't hear any pub noise at all. Being a couple of minutes off of the A303 it was also really quiet traffic-wise. Friendly owner, always available and a nice continental breakfast.

A nice place to stay. Room was clean and comfortable apart from slightly lumpy pillows. Plenty of choice for breakfast. We ate dinner there on our 1st evening which was very good. The only niggle, which isn't the responsibility of the Mildmay Arms, is the church bell chiming every 15 minutes all day and night. We had to shut the bedroom window to get some sleep, otherwise it was a lovely stay.

I enjoyed the ease to park as well as the voice of drink in the bar. I loved the value for money with the food and there was more than enough of it. The staff were lovely and friendly. The only downside for me was the lovely church around 80 metres away. For some reason, I could hear the bells through the night whilst the window was open. It may have been a rogue night but the bells could be heard.

It's a lovely old pub in a beautiful village Queen Camel that is full of old world charm. Quite remote with only one shop that we could find. The hosts were very friendly and even helped us in with our bags. The parking out the front was really handy. We ate the first night and the food was amazing. It was very noisy at night with music on into the early hours but the room was clean. Breakfast was adequate. We wanted to dine in on the Sunday night but found out they'd stopped serving food at 5pm, we didn't see anything to that effect and as it's a long way from anywhere it was lucky we had some snacks with us. Altogether it was a pleasant stay.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Service is very good. The double room was very clean and tidy. Also quite, though you do, as someone else has mentioned previously, hear the church bells. Have to say it was not a problem for me. The room was very comfortable, a lovely view along Church Lane and across the stone cottages. It has the usual room facilities. The bathroom facilities were very good, especially the shower, as it was one of the few that I have used in hotels that did not leak onto the floor. Breakfast was continental style, quite large to be honest and includes local produce. The evening/dining food is very good, the food is fabulous. It was noted that the local residents go there to eat too. Plenty of car parking. Its a quite location well off the A303. Easy access to the two main museums locally, but also to other places of interest as well. The local village Queen Camel is also delightful, with its stone cottages. Room was reasonably clean and the beds, while a bit on the soft side, were ok. I didn't like the green safety light over the door that stayed on all night (I like a dark room to sleep) but I understand why it is there. On a plus note there was plenty of storage - not that we really needed much for an overnight stay. Kettle was full of limescale - needed descaling! All in all everything was a bit tired looking. The bathroom could certainly have done with a freshen up - mouldy grouting in shower for example. Breakfast was very basic, advertised as continental but basically it was (limited) boxed cereals and toast. There was a fruit bowl and some flavoured yoghurts, along with a bit of salami, cheese slices and cheap croissants - non of it looked very appetizing, not was it particularly healthy or of good quality. Staff we encountered were very pleasant and polite, however we couldn't find anyone to give the key to when we left. One of the reasons we chose to stay here was because it did food in the evening - unfortunately, apparently, the chef had called in sick so this wasn't an option. They were able to suggest a nearby pub, however after a long day I wouldn't have chosen to drive out again, particularly as it then meant one of us couldn't enjoy a glass of wine as someone has to drive back.

A good location near the Fleet Air Arm Museum. Attrocious rain prevented the chef getting to work, so the owner kindly let us know in advance to make other dinner arrangements. Oil heater was on in our room. Cooked breakfast wasnt possible due to flooding and chef couldnt get to work. Continental breakfast was good.

This property is a pub with rooms, and is very good. The rooms are away from the bar area and there was no noise from customers leaving at closing time. The room was clean and a reasonable size. The staff were all very good, friendly and efficient. We ate in the bar at night, but there is a separate dining room too. The food was very tasty, with an excellent apple cake dessert. Breakfast is cereal and toast, with tea or coffee. This was ample to set us up for the day. We would definitely stay here again, if in the area.

Small issue with payment caused by hotels.com, no cooked breakfast due to staff shortages but evening meal was first class and Gavin the manager provided a standout continental replacement. Would highly recommend the restaurants food.
