Simple but comfortable accommodation, helpful and friendly host, good quality unpretentious pub grub. Good breakfast included in the price.

Although, primarily by nature of the building, some of the interior is in need of udating. That said it is clean and comfortable. The landlord Jeff (or Geoff) is lovely, friendly, and a good conversation maker. The food is good and served with a friendly smile, by a lovely lady or Jeff himself. A warm, cosy log burning fire in the dining area too adds to the ambience. The hotel is within easy reach of the Bath & West Showground, ideal if ypur exhibiting there. This is my second visit and I will be back again next year.

The man that owned this pub is a really helpful and nice person. Breakfast was lovely each morning, and everything was laid out perfectly on the tables. Room was big enough for what we needed had en-suite bathrooms (shower was a little on the smaller side). They were boiling as we had some nice weather so probably best to bring a fan if you plan on staying in the warm weather. Lovely little beer garden too. We’d stay here again if in the area.

Warm welcome in a lovely country pub. First class pub food reasonably priced, and well kept real ale. Compact room in excellent condition had lots of thoughtful little extras I didn’t expect in a pub with rooms, including mirror at right height for stool with hair dryer. Independent heating (not needed this time) and effective double glazing so no traffic noise.

Arrived late Friday night to a warm welcome and warm clean rooms. Great sized family room with a double bed, tele and books in the 1st, with twin beds in a room that led from it. Hubby even managed to get a drink once we'd unloaded the car. Tasty breakfast with choice of cereals, yoghurts and full English which could be adapted down to a bacon sandwich or something else if preferred. Friendly owner and car park adjacent where we could see our car from our room. Nice view of fields and sheep out of most of the windows.

A roadside inn with a friendly team serving hearty meals. Plenty of outside space for the odd days the British weather allows. A table d’hote menu but nonetheless sufficiently varied, I especially liked the non battered whitebait. The en-suite rooms were clean and comfortable if a tad dated. The bed had a soft mattress but surprisingly I slept very well. Room 5 catches the traffic noise from the road somewhat, so avoid this room if that would bother you. For the price this inn is spot on, it’s not a boutique style place with a price to match, it is a roadside stop offering a good night at a budget price.

Great little property. The hosts were fantastic and very helpful, especially love the separate entrance for rooms from the main bar.

I found the owner to be very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. Good facilities at the accommodation with ample parking. Very adjacent to Bath and Somerset Showground for access to Newwine conference as well as close to Shepton Mallet. Breakfast was substantial and decent. Overall, good stay. Thank-you

This is a great old fashioned pub with rooms and the cost reflects these values. The pub is ideally placed for visiting the Bath and West Showground and adjoining delightful Somerset towns of Wincanton, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury, Wells and Street (Clarkes Village) to name but a few. The Landlord and staff are very inviting and helpful. Breakfast and evening meal (if chosen) are well cooked and presented and include local produce. A little gem alongside the A371. Thoroughly recommended and a return visit planned for next year.

Breakfast was average, room was comfortable but a bit dirty around room, shower was cold but only to find out the merging switch needs time to heat. Giving the inn was out in the country it wasnt at all bad. Value for money definitely. The host was welcoming and accommodated our wishes & choices in Breakfast

Landlord delightful and accommodating. Other guests very friendly. Location super handy for the occasion I visited. The fact that parking and breakfast were included added some value but there really is no excuse for how knackered and poorly maintained the room was. Pub attached would be a great stop over for a group - food was tasty and good value. Electrical conduit and sockets hanging off the wall and shower hanging on by filler. Its was dirty too unfortunately. It’s not difficult these days for simple accessories to be replaced cheaply.

The welcome was warm and the bed was clean, we knew the rooms were a bit dated before we went but that was ok. The communal areas were more modern. However the cleanliness in the bathroom was poor - the sink wasn’t clean and the floor behind the door was dusty and there were a few stray hairs! The pipes running along from the radiator were really dirty. The shelves in the bedroom were dusty too. It’s a shame because other than that the place was nice. The chap in charge was charming - I just think a good clean and hoover in the stairwell would benefit the experience- oh and maybe 2 pillows each rather than one. Breakfast was lovely though!

Couldn’t fault the service. Very friendly and attentive. The bar area is lovely but the rooms are a little dated and the cleanliness let the place down.

Although I had a cooked breakfast, it consisted of one sausage, a small piece of bacon and ‘bulked up’ by beans and sliced potato. This was rather poor. The room could have been improved very cheaply. The bath mat had holes in it. There was only hand wash in the shower and a good mould remover was badly needed.

Quite good value. Needs a bit more love and attention. Small TV, Small hard towels. No mirror in bedroom. Some black mould in bathroom. Broken blind in bathroom. Lack of pressure and temperature from shower. Owners pleasant. Breakfast nothing to write home about

Very friendly service. Room was a little tired but great value

The room was small and that was okay. But within the bedroom and bathroom, there was a single outlet for plugging in my computer and/or other electronics.

The shower was not great you either froze or were boiled, the room looked bigger in pictures compared to reality.

Stayed in the family room which was fabulous!!! Had 2 rooms with a double & 2 single beds in the other with connecting door. Lovley big bathroom too. Breakfast included & for £85 it was an ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!!!!! Quite a bit of road noise but you get used to it

On arrival we were greeted in a polite cheerful manner, and shown to our room. The room and onsuit facilities were clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and approachable. The food was great, well presented and apatising. Overall a friendly welcoming establishment. We would definitely stay there again.

He offered to lend me towels to dry it off. Not many places would have gone that extra mile. There is nothing really close by to walk to. But friendly people decent food and service is all I really need when im away. Id stay again

Charming inn with a hardy full English breakfast. Jeff was very help in helping us coordinate our travel in the area.

Needed a single night stay for a local training day. Staff were lovely and accommodating and the room was perfectly clean. Breakfast was also included.

The Owner Geoff is Fantastic, Tried his freshly cooked food it's excellent and he uses local produce. Pippa the assistant couldn't do enough to help us, great local knowledge,pleasure to chat with. The only downside for myself and the wife was we thought we had booked a room with a bath, one of the reasons we selected this hotel, but unfortunately,it's only the family room that has the bath not the double, We would definitely stay here in the future and book the family room We had a Cozy sleep, Not much traffic noise, we gave the cooked breakfast 5* for value and quality of local ingredients.

I had a one night stay at the pecking Mill and I arrived around 9:30pm. Even though the other guests had all gone to bed and there was no one in the pub, the landlord was friendly and accommodating, he was willing to cook me some chips as I hadn't eaten much that day. We had a good chat about travels also. The room was clean and comfortable and I have no complaints about staying there and I would stay again. Thanks Jeff!

We had a nice time at the Pecking Mill. It was clean, the room was extra large, with a double bed and two single beds. The breakfast was cook nicely and was hot. There were cereals, yogurts, toast, orange juice and hot drinks. A lovely place to stay.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. Asked for a quiet room at the back and got one. Excellent location for our needs and the breakfast was very good. Would definitely return.

Geoff was an amazing host. So welcoming and friendly. Knowledgeable about the area and further afield. The food was lovely ate both nights of our stay as food was very tasty and the deserts were awesome. Breakfast was good with a variety on offer. Thank you for a great stay and we will definitely return.

Absolutely wonderful stay , food was amazing had the sirloin steak and garlic mushrooms which were cooked to perfection , breakfast was wonderful , sausage was amazing , really good value and owner was so helpful and went the extra mile , would highly recommend

Subpar place to stay & most expensive of this 28 day trip. I thick it was the owner was the only other person I saw during my stay. He was a nice enough chap. Perhaps near retirement. Stayed in Room #4. 3 nights in late-March 2025. Negatives: The towels were dirty, like old rags actually. When called out in the morning, he replaced... with more of the same!!! The silverware both in the room and in the restaurant during breakfast had a sticky film on them. Dirty! The "English breakfast" itself was barely that & fair at best with everything being straight out of the can especially the beans. Yogurt was had only with fruit out of plastic container "pure sugar bombs"! The toilet seat was not clean. The shower area was tiny and had the pull thing to activate it from outside the shower. The faucets at the sink were too stiff. Wi-Fi issues with connectivity and speed. No USB power. Lastly, the room had the whimsical 1800's style door lock, you know the kind that you can peep through. Which means you need the key to lock it from the inside. That's really a major safety hazard in a event of a fire, I recommend leaving the key in there. These are illegal in the U.S. Positives: Check-in was easy. Lot's of free parking (especially when your the only one there). Quiet.

They went above and beyond for my dietry requirements and nothing was too much trouble. They checked everything with me before serving and even got me some gf bread and sausages. The room was perfect, clean and bright. The bed was so comfy! The staff were so friendly welcoming and id definitely return if passing this way.

Provided you give advance notice they are happy and willing to provide gluten free breakfast and advice on dining options too. Nothing was too much trouble.

An excellent and pretty property with everything you could need in the room. The host was exceptional in making us feel welcome and cooking delicious breakfasts and evening meals. We will definitely stay there again next time we’re visiting the showground for the antique fair as it is situated so close to it.

Highly recommended staying here. The man who runs it is extremely pleasant and approachable. Food is amazing. Only down fall was the cleanliness of dishes. Bed was extremely comfy and had a great night sleep.
