This place is great, would stay again. Very cozy, nice continental breakfast with protein and healthy-ish options. Great coffee in the room. Tv worked easily and had channels. 2 clarifications included as Expedia doesn’t always do a great job reporting on these: laundry can only be done between 6-8 pm and there is not really accesses to a microwave and fridge. There was a working and large mini fridge in the room.

Great property and nicely renovated century house. Cozy and has everything you need. Parking is a challenge since there are only 8 spots and one is for handicaps. Definitely recommend.

Almost everything was good at this inn. It was clean, they left fruit in the room, the breakfast was good, the staff was helpful, the location was great, and the inn was the most reasonably priced for the idea. Also, despite being across the street from a hospital, it was quiet. My only complaint—unfortunately a significant one—was that the mattresses were quite hard. Hopefully this varies by room and isn’t the case throughout the inn. One tip—parking is not available at the inn for every guest, so book that in advance. Since the inn is near a university, we were navigating jammed one-way streets filled with students getting out of class at 4:00 on a Friday, and it took forever to find a spot.

Oldie world hotel, bedroom was ok, had bath with excellent shower. Wardrobe doors were hanging off, so left them open. Plenty of storage space, coffee maker and fridge, plus 2 bottles of water daily. What let it down? there are no lifts, from the street to the front door and from reception to all floors stairs. And no one to help with your luggage. Not disable friendly. Second thing was the breakfast, it's not cheap to stay in Canada, cereal, fruit juice, bread and bagels, boiled eggs and fruit.. I think one day there was scrambled egg, that disappeared on day 2&3, and watermelon disappeared on day 3. This was supposed to be a continental breakfast??? Worse breakfast I've ever seen. Good location for train and bus station, easy walk into downtown and public gardens and citadel.

Great place, included a wonderful breakfast. Stairwells were a little confusing, that was just the old house. Laundry available after hours. Nice bright loom with lots of space. Great Internet throughout the location. Walkable to the waterfront and tourist museums and tourist attractions. Very enjoyable stay.

Good location to walk to the waterfront (15 min). Nice breakfast every morning. We were able to do laundry in the evening which was very convenient. Limited parking so ask in advance if you need one.

Light bulbs all burnt out in room and bathroom. Heat pump no work. Things left in cupboard from previous guests (prescription boxes left with names and health card info) stain on carpet. Very old, worn out place; needs a good cleaning and maintenance! The bathroom sink would barely drain; I looked out to an old fence and garbage; air conditioner was very noisy, fan was loose and noisey, mattress was awfully old and lumpy, breakfast just cereal, toast, muffins, I could go on. Only thing good was the location.

We booked several months ahead, but they gave us a crappy basement room (102) with a small ground level window looking directly at bottom of neighbor's fence, 5 feet away. Bathroom vent not working. Smoke detector went off twice because of humidity. Staff said vent fan has never been hooked up. Paint bulging on bathroom ceiling because of humidity. Black mold growing in spots of bathroom ceiling. Told staff, but no action taken, to even clean away the mold after I told them it is toxic. "Dust bunnies" floating around under the bed. And finally, they tried to charge me for parking on check-out, even though I did not ever park on the property. I definitely WOULD NOT stay here again!!

This is a very dated property and definitely could use some TLC, the walls are blacked marked in multiple places, there is mold on the dated shower tiles, the shower curtains are in desperate need of replacement (frayed bottoms and mold residue spots are clearly visible) . They advertise that parking is available, but not until you arrive do they tell you they nay have 7 spaces available, and when those are taken (likely by staff) that you are to park across the street at the hospital, or on the side of the road both at your own expense. The layout is very awkward, we were given a room in the basement, so you walk down 2 flights of stairs and then up another set to get to the room (hard to envision) ….otherwise the staff reasonably helpful with directions to stores/restaurants

The location is great and our room was clean but it was very hot in our room and no way to control the temperature other than opening the window which we didnt want to do all night. The staff are friendly and the breakfast was okay.

Great location, very friendly staff at check in. I'm leaving early in the morning, before breakfast, and staff dropped off a breakfast to-go bag for me. My room is right at the front of the building, so it's a bit noisy with the front door, but that's to be expected with an older building like this. It's nice to stay in a place with some individual charm instead of a generic hotel room.

The outside was cute. Inside no elevator to 3rd floor; my bed was a double sized bed, not a queen plus it was on a very noisy spring frame which kept me awake all night. I was overcharged and the clerk was uncertain how to resolve.

Pros: - free parking - walking distance to everything - breakfast included (which we did not take advantage of) - cheaper than other options. You get what you pay for I guess. Cons: - The room was 24.5 degrees. That’s way too hot. AC does not work as there was no remote nor buttons on the actual unit itself and the temperature adjuster on the wall did not move the temp up or down. We did not complain cause it was only for 1 night. And we just opened the window, but it quickly got too cold and had to shut it. - The carpet in the room is gross. - The view outside of our window was a graveyard. - The shower partially worked. The large top shower head kept dripping cold water, so I had to stand very close to the normal shower head to avoid to cold drips of water. - The beds aren’t very good, but it’s fine for a night. I could not do a week on them that’s for sure. Overall, do I recommend? No. I will not go back. It was a mediocre experience at best. The biggest disappointment was temp in the room being completely unacceptable.

Our stay at the Garden South Park Inn was excellent, due largely to the wonderful customer service! Every staff member was incredibly kind and helpful with wonderful recommendations and friendly conversation. The room was absolutely beautiful and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We found the location to be excellent as well. We took an Uber to the waterfront for under $10 CAD and also walked to Stillwell Beer Garden one evening. Breakfast was described as continental but I’d say it was more like ’continental plus’ because, beyond lovely muffins, bagels, toast, and cereals, they offered hard boiled eggs, deli meats, cheese and crackers, yogurt and fruit. The coffee was also delicious. One note is that parking is an extra charge and not guaranteed, so one night we parked on the street for under $10 CAD and the second night we parked in the lot for $15 CAD. (Yes, this was more but we didn’t have to be concerned about adding more money to the app or moving the car at a certain time.) Overall, an excellent stay in Halifax at the Garden South Park Inn! We would definitely recommend it.

Paul at the reception was so hospitable. We arrived early morning to drop off our luggage as check-in was not due till 3 p.m. He invited us to have breakfast at their parlor & to rest if we wished. Staff at the inn were polite & helpful. Location very good.

Excellent location for us and we were able to just leave our car and walk to everywhere we needed to be. We were even able to walk downtown to the waterfront to see the sights. The surrounding neighbourhood seemed very safe at night. The Inn was very clean and the continental breakfast was well laid out. A warm, comfortable environment overall. This property does not have an elevator so we had to carry our luggage up and down 2 flights of stairs. Being 80ish, this was not so easy. Staff did offer help if we needed it. Our towels had seen better days, and we would have liked to have had extra towels in the room when we arrived. A second towel rack would certainly help keep things organized in the bathroom. The Inn’s website did not say that there was a mini fridge in the room. We were surprised to find one!

Fantastic location, easily walkable to many local attractions. Nice breakfast, it's continental but has lots of selection. The room was a little tight but the ensuite had new tub and tile, including a rain shower. Was not expecting a TV which was nice. The check-in was good, the young woman was professional and had lots of information for us regarding policies. There is limited parking so arrive early and stay on foot. We have stayed here twice in the past. We found this time that the entry, hallways, stairwells and dining room were rather overrun with decor. It all seemed rather random and not really in keeping with the Victorian feel we have experienced in the past. It was all rather distracting. An extra unusable table and chairs blocked a lovely fireplace in the dining room. Beautiful property just too much going on. Less is more.

Excellent location. Short walk from train station which is in harbour area. Very close to downtown, public gardens and Point Pleasant park. Parking was available but we did not need a car. Continental breakfast was good.

Great place, included a wonderful breakfast. Stairwells were a little confusing, that was just the old house. Laundry available after hours. Nice bright loom with lots of space. Great Internet throughout the location. Walkable to the waterfront and tourist museums and tourist attractions. Very enjoyable stay.

Oldie world hotel, bedroom was ok, had bath with excellent shower. Wardrobe doors were hanging off, so left them open. Plenty of storage space, coffee maker and fridge, plus 2 bottles of water daily. What let it down? there are no lifts, from the street to the front door and from reception to all floors stairs. And no one to help with your luggage. Not disable friendly. Second thing was the breakfast, it's not cheap to stay in Canada, cereal, fruit juice, bread and bagels, boiled eggs and fruit.. I think one day there was scrambled egg, that disappeared on day 2&3, and watermelon disappeared on day 3. This was supposed to be a continental breakfast??? Worse breakfast I've ever seen. Good location for train and bus station, easy walk into downtown and public gardens and citadel.

7:45 am is a little late for the continental breakfast. Maybe if coffee was available for those that have to leave early. I was able to park on the street with no difficulty, I can see that parking would be an issue when the winter ban is on.

Close to everything that interested us as far as walking goes. Bagels, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, coffee, juice....a good start for the day. They let us store our suitcases in a storage area as we arrived in the morning (very good of them!!)
