This hotel is really good. Check-in was welcoming and the staff very friendly. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Our room was in a lodge (22) was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The view was fabulous. The chateau was amazing. The place is elegantly furnished and decorated to a high standard, spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive. The small bar was limited but ok! Breakfast was very good, plentiful and of a high standard. Parking was limited at the front of the hotel but we were ok with the overflow car park at the back right next to our lodge. All in all we had a great stay

We stayed in a self contained apartment in the stable block. Spacious, well equipped. Views from the hotel lounges were beautiful & comfortable relaxed environment. We ate in the restaurant one night & food was very good. Staff friendly & helpful.

It's no doubting it's a five star visual experience and we were fortunate enough to virtually have the place to ourselves. I would guess 7 out of the 27 rooms were taken and this is the end of July! However it's the service that lets the place down, from the minute we walked in, they don't do lunch of any form - which I've never heard of in a hotel- so you have to wait until the evening and that's £70 for a 3 course meal - which we couldn't stretch to as we'd already paid £230 for the room, we encountered a pretty vacant receptionist, less than helpful, never heard of the gazelle hotel (even though it's less than a mile up the road, great views, top food) asked about taxis and was just given a card (twice!), also got taxi to Menai £5. Concierge is mentioned but he didn't even help with my wife's small case when taken to our fantastic room. The Bar: There is no waiter service so you have to stand around with others waiting for somebody to turn up or ring the bell! Garden Area: fantastic views but it's let down by bits of rubbish lying around, it's not been well kept, it looks like it's been disregarded. Breakfast didn't happen due to a power cut, received bar Tab :£31 off the bill with no apology, we also had no water, but we were lucky already had a shower, but then the toilet wouldn't flush! All in all pretty disappointing as it was my wife's 60th birthday, and yes we would go again, for the peacefulness and the astounding views of the Menai strait.
