Would have been good to know we couldn’t park on site before arriving. Lots of roadworks next to hotel and gas to park in multi story car park next door at cost of £13 for 2 nights

Under repair and no parking not good had to find own park ( which holiday inn should pay for as there carpark closed

There is renovation work being done. This means their car park is closed. There is a public car park next door, but its a bit of a hassle parking on the street to check in and then having to move your car afterwards. There were no signs saying when the car park will re-open and I only knew it was closed when I arrived - no prior notice was given.

Was angry on arrival as it did not say on the website of any building work or the car park being shut

Parking outside hotel is currently suspended so I had to use the multi storey car park next door and pay for parking. Not easy when you are disabled.I would not have booked this hotel if this had been flagged up straight away

Scaffolding around the building, additional floor levels being built, also no car park facilities

No water at hotel in morning. Staff kept saying it would be back on in 10 minutes Never came back on. Breakfast obviously effected, no shower, toilet facilities Now waiting for a full refund

Hotel was great, high standard and service. Only issue was outside had scaffolding around the building and the car park was out of service. Would recommend.

Super value for money. Everything clean, breakfast well run and all staff very nice.

Very clean and comfortable beds

There was no Shower gel in bathroom. There was no dental kit. Room service basically just fixed the duvet on top of the bed without fixing the bedsheet. No AC remote. Coffee mug from last night was just kept as it is.

The reception area was nicely decorated for Christmas, the room was big, and the bathroom seemed newly renovated. However, the loo seat and the inside of the lid had splash marks that had not been wiped, the shower gel container was empty (so we had to wash with shampoo), the couch in the room had many dodgy looking stains, and the cleaning staff knocked at our door bright and early on New Year’s Day(!), despite still having over an hour before checkout. And the breakfast times were set for midweek times, despite being a bank holiday.

Had a very pleasant young lady welcome us. Room had everything we needed. Trying to sleep all I could hear was woman shouting "Get off me, get off me. I was concerned until I heard children running around. This went on for quite a while. Bed was comfortable, not so the pillows. Breakfast was tasty, but could have been hotter. Didn't appreciate people coming coming to breakfast in their nightwear, they are NOT at home.

Our aircon was noisy, and couldn’t be adjusted. Then the ceiling unit started to leak on to the floor. We had to change rooms late at night, when we were in our night clothes, but were offered no compensation.

First room allocated was very noisy but staff moved me and it was all good.

We arrived after a long day of travelling to find the car park full. When I walked to reception I was told I would have to park in the multi-storey car park behind the hotel and it would cost me £7. This was hidden in the listing of the hotel and should be clearer. It was about a 3 minute drive to the car park as there was a road closed, not ideal after a long day. The car park was well lit and had security cameras, still felt uneasy about leaving the car so far away. We were given a room right by the road and the road noise was loud, we only found out the next morning the window latch was broken which meant the window wasn’t fully shut. The room was clean but the plug in the sink was stuck down, something housekeeping would have known about. The double bed was not very comfortable and sheets weren’t very soft. Nice touch to offer different pillows and also various toiletries for free (including sanitary) if needed. Breakfast the next morning was free. It was hot, well cooked food and much appreciated after a rubbish night sleep. Above the coffee machines were takeaway cups so you could have a coffee to go. We told staff when we left about the issues with the room, they were very apologetic and said they would get it sorted. Not sure we’d stay here again but it was good enough for what we needed.

3 rooms for a 1 night stay - 1st room - main light switch (card operated). cover came away and wouldn't stay in place, making all the lights in the room inoperative. Moved fairly swiftly to 2nd room - block drain in bathroom basin. 3rd room OK, but why do Holiday Inn put in such a small double bed, not even king-size. NOT a good nights rest. Reception dealt with issues efficiently. Not sure what they would have done if they has been fully booked. Previous experiences with Holiday Inns, Milton Keynes and Liverpool rated as 5 starts, but this one fell well below. 2 stars and that's being generous.

Asked for a twin bed which we got. TV we were unable to get any reception. The phone didn’t work so had to go to reception I was given the excuse it was the weather!! No solution sorted until I asked if there was another room available. There was a double bed and sofa bed. The worst nights sleep in a hotel. The sofa bed was the worst.

Hotel was fine. The car park is quite small and there is a charge to use it. Get there early or you are walking from the multistorey next door. Cheeck was easy enough. Room was fine and wifi was good. Had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and borh were nice. View from the restaurant is depressing but thats no fault of the hotel. Check was quick.

Stayed here as we’re going to a concert in London but did not want to pay the extortionate London prices! The room was modern and large. Good shower pressure and a lovely, comfy bed. Lots of shops in the immediate area. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge choice of hot and cold dishes and fresh fruit. Would recommend if in the area

Staff were polite and very welcoming. I stayed on a Sunday and arrived after 18.30. I parked in the Water Gardens which is less then a 5 minute walk and paid 50 pence for overnight parking.

Really great team keeping the hotel running perfectly. The welcome by Aspasia and the team was super-warm, and the flexibility of Mihaela in sorting our bed configuration was massively appreciated. I really would recommend this hotel to anyone considering it.

Rude staff

The staff are particularly wonderfully friendly and helpful: it has been a wonderful experience.

I didn’t get the best nights sleep as the mattress was too firm so tossed and turned all night. However, arguably that’s down to personal preference. What isn’t excusable is the fact that they had no running water in the morning so no showers. Instead of being at the front desk dealing with the guests the manager was nowhere to be seen. The lady on the front desk promised the manager would call to rectify but still waiting.

Hotel is a good base for visiting nearby North weald Aerodrome which is 20 mins drive away. Car park is too small for the hotel and 24hr charge of £5 applies. If you arrive late there is no spaces available. Hotel bed was comfortable and reasonable facilities such as a tv, kettle and wi-fi. The aircon in the room is a pain though and complicated to use. Spend a good 25 mins trying to switch it off before bed! Breakfast is a buffet affair and a really good choice including a take out bag if you have to leave early. Hotel is in the town centre so it was a bit noisy in the room facing the street outside. A good hotel - nothing exceptional but can be pricy as I noticed the day rateon the recption wall was £249!!

Average budget hotel...clean and quiet...pleasant staff...location is very run-down...feels unsafe at night no private parking....very dodgy public multi-storey next door is only option...badly lit area and groups of youths hanging about. Won't be staying there again.

The service was amazing and the beds were so comfy, it was like sleeping on a cloud! The breakfast was also amazing

The hotel is fine, but lots of work going on in the original bus station.. The only negative was mattress was too soft, and only felt firm because of the wood base. Hot breakfast limited if you don't/can't eat pork sausages and bacon

Had a great 3 nights. Usually stay at travelodge but from now on it will be you guys. Fabulous breakfast. Deffo would recomend to anyone.
