The information we received prior to arrival was excellent but I wasn't able to check in in advance using the on-line system. The hotel was situated in a very central location, but was quiet and felt very secure. Reception was in the Hotel Victoria ( a few doors down). The staff there were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the Victoria was good and they were able to store our bags for us won the last day before we flew home. The facilities listed for the Matheu (coffee shop, bar and restaurant), were situated either in the Hotel Victoria or, in the case of the restaurant, was a public restaurant between the 2 buildings. Unfortunately, although our room was clean and the bed comfortable, it was shabby, very small, and not al all as shown in the picture. I estimated it to be 8ft square which, by the time you add a double bed, a wardrobe, 2 adults and 2 suitcases, left VERY little room for manoeuvre. To make things worse the small window in the room had a dreadful outlook which discouraged us opening it or even looking out of it. We kept the curtains closed most of the time. The room felt very claustrophobic. Other rooms we saw looked much better. Sadly not the cozy retreat we had been promised.

Posizione spettacolare, ma non può bastare. Camera tripla minuscola, per poter passare dall'altra parte della camera, bisognava passare radenti al muro. Io sono uno che ama l'essenzialità e non ama troppi fronzoli ma qui è troppo. Nessuno alla reception, in nessun orario del giorno e della notte, il check-in va fatto nel vicino hotel Victoria, aria condizionata senza telecomando, la temperatura te la imposta un ragazzo che fa le pulizie, non c'è un telefono in camera, non c'è un frigo bar tanto che alcune cose comprate ho dovuto lasciarle conservare alla reception dell'hotel Victoria. Insomma, nonostante la posizione fantastica, una scelta che non rifarei.

Es la primera planta de un edificio compartido. La recepción se hace en el hotel victoria 4 que está unos pasos más adelante. Aconsejo aparcar en parking Santa Ana antes de ir al hotel,son calles donde no se puede aparcar. Está muy céntrico y andando y en metro visitas todo sin problemas. Todas las calles con muchos negocios y cerca de un 100 montaditos en definitiva opción de precios. El desayuno se hace en el victoria a precios muy buenos para lo que hay en el barrio y comer te hacen descuento por estar allí hospedado. Hemos pasado unos días perfectos y contentos con todo. Hemos estado en las habitaciones 9 y 10 y eso que dicen de ruidos solo un pequeño sonido a música, nada que no se soporte. Lo único que no me ha gustado es que el parking el último día salimos en 16 horas y me cobraron la tarifa del día entero,pero si quieres aparcar cerca es lo que hay. Repetiría sin problemas

Chambre donne sur une rue trop bruyant jusqu'à 3h du matin , clim commander par l hotel chambre glacée les serviettes sont changées qu a 50% il y a 1 seul chaine de tele pas de frigo dans la chambre, nous avons eut beaucoup de mal a trouver l entree de l hotel car c est un immeuble transformer en hotel il faut chercher les clefs de l l'immeuble a l hotel victoria a 500 m ceci est indiquée nul part . Malgre tout cela hotel bien placé en plein centre ville personnel sympa.

Hostel Matheu is a part of a bigger hostel chain called Victoria 4. You still need to check in at that location if you want to stay at the other hostel. The staff are very friendly and know Spanish and English. The location itself is around a bunch of restaurants and shopping. It is also about a 12 minute walk to the palace. I only got to stay here for one night, but it did the trick!

Only book this place to store your luggage or if you have bad hearing and don’t care much for hygiene. A club under which plays loud boring music all night and walls as if of paper. You hear every step and whisper by neighbors around. Mould in the bathroom and bedsheets not clean. It was a “cheap” option in an expensive city, but it’s better to allow yourself a good rest after a day in this amazing city. Hopefully you can afford not to stay at Matheu.

Stayed for 2 nights. Location is very convenient with a lot of dining and shops. Really walkable. Reception at Hotel Victoria was smooth, staff were kind and friendly. The room is ok for the 2 night stay. Comfortable, however I would have wanted the bathroom to be more clean as I saw some hair on the sink and tub. Room can get noisy if you are a light sleeper since restaurants are outside, although this did not bother us. I would still stay here the next time aim back.

El personal muy atento, la limpieza y el lugar muy bien, excelente ubicacion, sin embargo el ruido fue excesivo, nada mas y nada menos que una discoteca debajo del piso y varios pubs en frente que generaba un ruido terrible.

To make things worse the small window in the room had a dreadful outlook which discouraged us opening it or even looking out of it. We kept the curtains closed most of the time. The room felt very claustrophobic. Other rooms we saw looked much better. Sadly not the cozy retreat we had been promised.

El hotel es muy malo en general, lo único rescatable fue la chica del check in en la noche, una habitación vieja si, pero podría haberse rescatado, pero no! El ruido es insoportable, la gente entra azotando la puerta, gritando, borracha y haciendo escándalos, y nadie les dice nada, porque no hay nadie para decirles algo, pedimos un cambio de habitácion y nos la dieron, pero la habitación no la limpiaron como tal, una toalla y una de las camas sucias y tenían rastros de cabellos, olían a sudor las almohadas, la verdad es un fiasco este lugar, nada nada recomendable.nunca nos limpiaron la habitación, y eso que lo reportamos.

Stayed for 2 nights. Location is very convenient with a lot of dining and shops. Really walkable. Reception at Hotel Victoria was smooth, staff were kind and friendly. The room is ok for the 2 night stay. Comfortable, however I would have wanted the bathroom to be more clean as I saw some hair on the sink and tub. Room can get noisy if you are a light sleeper since restaurants are outside, although this did not bother us. I would still stay here the next time aim back.

We requested two twin beds and were notified well ahead of time that the hotel received that request. We notified the hotel well in advance that we would arrive late — after midnight. It turned out there was no room available with two beds. But we were told the room had a king size bed. When we got to the room, we saw that it was only a double bed. There were no cups or glasses in the room. We appreciated the air conditioning in the room. We were uncomfortable during the night for the two nights of our stay. On the second morning of our stay, the bread was stale; otherwise the breakfasts were okay.

Dit is een hotel voor jongeren, die alleen gaan om te slapen . Dit hotel past niet bij ons als echtpaar. De service was uitstekend men zag zelf dat dit niet voor ons geschikt was en we werden de volgende morgen met hun hulp overgebracht naar hotel Espaje, een onderdeel van het hotel!

Hostel Matheu is a part of a bigger hostel chain called Victoria 4. You still need to check in at that location if you want to stay at the other hostel. The staff are very friendly and know Spanish and English. The location itself is around a bunch of restaurants and shopping. It is also about a 12 minute walk to the palace. I only got to stay here for one night, but it did the trick!

The information we received prior to arrival was excellent but I wasn't able to check in in advance using the on-line system. The hotel was situated in a very central location, but was quiet and felt very secure. Reception was in the Hotel Victoria ( a few doors down). The staff there were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the Victoria was good and they were able to store our bags for us won the last day before we flew home. The facilities listed for the Matheu (coffee shop, bar and restaurant), were situated either in the Hotel Victoria or, in the case of the restaurant, was a public restaurant between the 2 buildings. Unfortunately, although our room was clean and the bed comfortable, it was shabby, very small, and not al all as shown in the picture. Es la primera planta de un edificio compartido. La recepción se hace en el hotel victoria 4 que está unos pasos más adelante. Aconsejo aparcar en parking Santa Ana antes de ir al hotel,son calles donde no se puede aparcar. Está muy céntrico y andando y en metro visitas todo sin problemas. Todas las calles con muchos negocios y cerca de un 100 montaditos en definitiva opción de precios. El desayuno se hace en el victoria a precios muy buenos para lo que hay en el barrio y comer te hacen descuento por estar allí hospedado. Hemos pasado unos días perfectos y contentos con todo. Hemos estado en las habitaciones 9 y 10 y eso que dicen de ruidos solo un pequeño sonido a música, nada que no se soporte. Lo único que no me ha gustado es que el parking el último día salimos en 16 horas y me cobraron la tarifa del día entero,pero si quieres aparcar cerca es lo que hay. Repetiría sin problemas

Very nice place to stay for the price. Clean, safe, and right in the middle of everything. That was the only down side though too as people were partying until 5am and it was not quiet. Great breakfast at the Victoria hotel nearby.

The hostal has a great location . To check in you need to walk to another hotel and they will check you in . You need to go upstairs no elevators to the first floor where you will find the hostal door entrance . The room is extremely small for 3 people . The beds had only 2 sheets as cover and the sheets were stained and ripped ( I will attach a picture ) . There was a cockroach in the entrance of the building one night . I paid almost $800 for 3 nights definitely not worth the money . Definitely I do not recommend it .
