Older building but very well maintained. Excellent location. 10 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, market and liquor stores. Free covered parking and ample unrestricted street parking. Large room with strong wifi. If someone wants a clean functional beach motel close to everything but not is the center of the action with a low rate, this is your spot. Highly recommended.

Basic for the price. Way too many steep steps to our room. A bit noisy, but it is on the Gold Coast hwy. Staff very friendly and helpful particularly the cleaners.

An old hotel. No elevator! I had to haul my two heavy pieces of luggage up and down the stairs. Rooms were decent but the bed was an uncomfortable mattress and very cold in winter. The old building also didn’t seem secure. Anyone could walk off street and access balcony doors.

We had to find a last minute hotel for one night, at first look I didn't like it, but once we were inside the apartment it was great. Super clean and comfortable. You can hear the upstairs occupants walking around very easily but that doesn't bother me so it wasn't an issue. I could have stayed here for a week without any problem.

The aircon was not cold even stuck on 18 degrees. The shower was full of mould. Looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed for a very long time. Also lots of black mould on the bathroom ceiling.

Room smelt like cigarettes, there were cigarette buts under the bed and toilet was dirty. Bed was uncomfortable and had insects in the room, sofa was grubby.

Lovely clean room. Road outside is very busy. Amazing location. Didn’t realise we would be so close to the beach! The kids loved it. Beach was easy to access. Pubs, restaurants, shopping centre easy walking distance

Very impressed on arrival for a ‘regular’ looking Aussie motel. 2 bedroom apartment was lovely and modern. Come evening time and unfortunately the place was infested with German cockroaches. The walls, floor, cupboards were covered with roaches. My bosses suitcase (which was unfortunately left on the floor) had tens of them scatter when he grabbed clothes. When I contacted the property about the infestation (as we’d checked out early to catch a flight) I heard crickets. Complete silence. Which wa disappointing, and speaks volumes unfortunately.

Glassware in room had stains in bottom of glasses where they hadn’t been rinsed out or washed prior to other people using cups had stains in them. That was very offputting beds comfortable bathroom quite tight due to configuration of doors getting in and out of shower and doorway great variety of dining options several minute walk up the road.

When we arrived at the hotel we were a bit concerned at its age and what the rooms and amenities would be like. Its an old hotel ... however the suite we had we recently renovated. Its was spacious, well decorated, fully air-conditioned and very relaxing. Wed definitely stay again.

Wasn’t aware reception closed early, our key was left out but no information around location of room. Turns out there was two rooms with the same number, and naturally we went to the wrong one first. When we did find our room the air conditioner was not on and room was about 35! Not very comfortable when getting in late at night.

Good for a 3 star motel. Lacked simple things like hand towels and a bath mat (only came with bath towels) and clearly someone had been smoking in the room before me (slight smokey smell and a shower cap over the smoke detector). The lady in reception was very friendly and helpful and went out of her way to find a park for my car and trailer.

Great location only one stop on the express bus from the airport. I found that the windows didn't do much to block out noise from the road. Bit odd to provide a microwave but no cutlery apart from mugs and a teaspoon

Had a lovely stay at Red Star, however on arrival we had a leaking air conditioner in our room. Thankfully we were able to stay in a much nicer apartment for the night so that made up for it. A short walk to the beach, cafes and restaurants, so for the price it worked out well for us.

It was perfect for my aim. The receptionist welcomed with lovely smile. The location was very convenient for dining and shopping. The main reason was to have a good rest between flights from Goldcoast AirPort and it was perfect. It is not 5 star hotel but it was a comfortable size of clean room with bathroom, verandah and carpark. I will definitely comeback for that price.

We were really pleasantly surprised by the Red Star. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The lovely sitting chair and footrest was an unexpected touch of style. The location is great, with an easy walk to the restaurants and bars at Palm Beach and Currumbin.
