Pleasant hotel with nice room and bathroom. Limited local dining options, which meant hotel restaurant was very busy and it took a while for food to arrive. Breakfast very good. Gated parking on site. Ideally situated for a visit to the beautiful Powis Castle ( walking distance from the hotel)

Beautiful building in the heart of town. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast and Dinner beautifully cooked. Plenty parking space at the rear of the hotel, but you need to drive around the one way system to reach it. If you miss its location, the hotel provided good directions to locate the entrance.

Very conveniently sited hotel in centre of town. Parking always seemed available. Hotel is an historic building modernised as far as possible. But no lifts and steps along corridors. Friendly staff. Good breakfast with self serve starters and main meal cooked to order. Good selection of courses at dinner. But wine at £30 plus per bottle is expensive and a deterrent to ordering. Surely something more reasonably priced per bottle could be sourced.

Excellent service and a very clean room. It was a blustery night and the window rattled, but the maintenance man was going to fix it. Breakfast was excellent and also our evening meal.

The Royal Oak bedrooms need painting, doors are grubby, carpet dirty in public areas. The chair in the dining room was dirty and needed a clean. The staff were very courteous and offered a great service. Breakfast was good. Would I stay again? No

The room was spotless, spacious and well equipped. I loved the DAB radio on the bed side. Nice touch. I prefer to listen to music/ podcasts/ audio books when staying away for work. I was welcomed by the lady on reception as though I was a friend, not a guest. Certainly, the cheeriest greeting I have ever had when checking in. The car park is a little tight but there are plenty of public car parks really close. The restaurant was nice, with a good, varied menu and breakfast was top quality

I travel a lot and stay in 3 hotels a week. The room was very comfortable and clean. The evening meal was very nice as was the breakfast. All staff i encountered were very welcoming and friendly and i saw this for other guest interactions too, so i take it this approach is the norm. The reception lady stayed on the phone call till i found the carpark, which was a big help. A very nice stay and will be back again when working in the area, thanks. I dont normally give reviews, but thought i would this time, Ian

The room was spotless and beautifully furnished; the bathroom was modern with plenty of shampoo, soap etc. The hotel itself has kept the charm of its age but with modern facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly when we had trouble locating the car park. We had a full english breakfast which was plenty for us.

Beautiful hotel with super friendly staff! Room was cosy and warm with lots of lovely touches like books, board games and gorgeous toiletries. Situated right in the centre of town and car parking on site. Great value for a super stay and nice breakfast.

Nice budget hotel and for what you get it’s perfectly acceptable. Room hot but not their fault it was a nice day. I didn’t realise the road next to the hotel was that busy so quite a lot of lorries passing through the night. Good food.

Clean, modern, comfortable and quiet with tea / coffee making and biscuits in my room. Very friendly staff. Wifi was generally good. Good selection at breakfast. I ate here twice in the evening, both times delicious.

The room was far too hot to sleep, even with the radiator shut off. The window could be opened but noise from fans outside made it too noisy to sleep. Other than that the hotel was good. Staff were friendly although unconcerned about the heating problem. Breakfast was good.

Room was amazing, no faults. Staff friendly and check in had no issues. Food was lovely and good portion sizes. However zero sleep. Sound proofing was poor, traffic noise. We had a long drive the next day and needed an early night. There was excessively loud music thumping for hours which completely spoiled the stay. We were not warned the function was being held and it intruded on our stay. A pity.

The staff were lovely; professional, yet friendly. Room 214 has VERY uneven flooring…unexpected rises and dips…a bit odd to maneuver around. Hot water always was slow to arrive. Spoke with staff about it. Running the shower for 10 minutes to get hot water seemed so wasteful, but I come from a drought plagued part of the world. My final morning, when I’ll be leaving and traveling for 12 hours, there was NO hot water. I ran the water for 45 minutes before I left without showering. The night staff apologized yet I stunk the entire day. No bueno. The bar and dining were fine. No great shakes.

Great location, right on the high street, beautiful room and the dining area and bar area were very comfortable and first class. The staff were really polite and very accommodating, especially jordan, who looked after us royally and gave us advice about where to go round and about Welshpool. Would recommend the Royal Oak to anyone!! Can’t think of a single negative.

Did not receive an itemized invoice when I checked out. Was told that Expedia woukd provide that! I've always received an itemized bill with any hotel stay, car renta, etc, even using a third party. Quite rude if yiuthink about it. I have a charge I don't recognize. I'll just refuse to pay it until I get documentation!

Nice budget hotel and for what you get it’s perfectly acceptable. Room hot but not their fault it was a nice day. I didn’t realise the road next to the hotel was that busy so quite a lot of lorries passing through the night. Good food.

Pleasant hotel with nice room and bathroom. Limited local dining options, which meant hotel restaurant was very busy and it took a while for food to arrive. Breakfast very good. Gated parking on site. Ideally situated for a visit to the beautiful Powis Castle ( walking distance from the hotel)

Beautiful building in the heart of town. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast and Dinner beautifully cooked. Plenty parking space at the rear of the hotel, but you need to drive around the one way system to reach it. If you miss its location, the hotel provided good directions to locate the entrance.

Great stay at the Royal Oak very friendly staff nice room and comfortable bed. Only issue we had was the room was very warm so needed windows open consequently we were woken several times in night by noise from pub/nightclub up the road, late night revellers and traffic. Loved the area visited Snailbeach Lead Mine which was fascinating and also walked to Powis Castle.

The room was spotless, spacious and well equipped. I loved the DAB radio on the bed side. Nice touch. I prefer to listen to music/ podcasts/ audio books when staying away for work. I was welcomed by the lady on reception as though I was a friend, not a guest. Certainly, the cheeriest greeting I have ever had when checking in. The car park is a little tight but there are plenty of public car parks really close. The restaurant was nice, with a good, varied menu and breakfast was top quality

Good option for solo traveler travelling for work, Very good breakfast. Unfortunately arrived after restaurant closed (around 8.30pm) and no bar food but as in middle of town easy to find a take away . Late check out (11am) really helpful. Very good breakfast included.

Very conveniently sited hotel in centre of town. Parking always seemed available. Hotel is an historic building modernised as far as possible. But no lifts and steps along corridors. Friendly staff. Good breakfast with self serve starters and main meal cooked to order. Good selection of courses at dinner. But wine at £30 plus per bottle is expensive and a deterrent to ordering. Surely something more reasonably priced per bottle could be sourced.

Nice property in the centre of town, rooms good overall but too hot in the middle of winter. They have a bit of a capitalisation on dining as there is not much else open nearby in the evenings, but food is of good quality and cooked fresh to order including Breakfast. One minor downside after going to the Restaurant to eat at 8.05pm being told by the gentleman on Reception on 12/2 last orders are @ 8.15pm, 2 things it was five past eight not eight fifteen and nowhere on there published literature or even their own restaurant booking site does it say anything about 8.15pm - their guest directory says they serve until 9pm and their booking site says last table to book 8.30pm (!) Apart from that all good :)

The hotel was clean and comfortable. We had a very good stay. The meals were good and the staff polite. There is an issue about finding the the back car park. This is due to the town's one way system only. It's worth asking the desk staff for directions before you arrive.

Nice pub hotel located in town centre of Welshpool. We had a lovely room/ suite which we were really pleased with. Staff were great and breakfast was also very comprehensive. On site free parking was also really good.
