Stayed 1 night

We had an enjoyable time. However, we felt it was not value for money. We paid for an upgrade for one of their premier rooms. We have not stayed there before so we do not know what the standard rooms are like. Ours was pretty standard on the second floor with no natural light as there was only a small window. It was too small for us and extremely hot with the temperatures outside with no air flowing through the room. As part of our stay we had booked a table at the brasserie given the reviews were good. The food was nothing special. They over-cooked my partner’s steak. For someone who does not eat meat, there wasn’t even a fish dish as they combined cod with chorizo. I ended up with no choice but have a vegetable risotto which was very poor - peas and asparagus. We spent over £400 for one night - less than 24 hours in the hotel as check-in is 11 and check-out 3. We would have expected a much higher quality of room and food for this amount of money. Unfortunately, the experience has put us off going again which is a shame as we live only 15 miles away and love the Essex Saltmarsh Coast. Back to Burnham-on-Crouch we will go. We thought we would give it a try but they failed to impress us. Sorry.
