Le Bouchon Brasserie & Hotel

Had a top floor room with no air conditioning, it was a hot day & evening and the room was so hot it was unbearable.

Very comfortable stay at Le Bouchon. Staff were so attentive and helpful. Well appointed room with wall aircon for comfort. Pod coffee maker was a nice touch and to make a change the TV was of a good size to be able to sit up in bed and watch! Breakfast options were so varied and it was all made freshly. Downsides - there was no USB ports in the plug sockets - i luckily had a power bank with me to charge a phone. The toast for breakfast was dry despite butter.

Lovely hotel and the food was excellent. Particular call out to the bar staff and their excellent cocktails. Only downside was the very small car park, which was tight to get into as the restaurant was full.

We had One night getaway - top class hotel- beautifully decorated throughout with no extras in the room scrimped - chocolate - shoe shine and needle kit included! Fab comfy bed and a gorgeous bathroom with a huge shower space! The service was attentive and all areas that a guest would want for a stay provided. The hotel has a romantic boat ride where they provide drinks to the mooring - delightful hour ride up and down the black water and chelmer navigation waters- ala carte food is well priced and we spotted an afternoon tea which looked divine … breakfast was excellent! Can’t wait for my next stay!

This hotel is a real find. It is 5 star. From Clare at check in, with Aron who carried our bags up 2 flights of stairs (the building is 300 years old and the owners cannot get permission to install a lift!), to Piotr and Aron who provided excellent service during the evening meal and last but not least to Emma who looked after us at breakfast. The selection of dishes on the evening meal menu was excellent and the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen was second to none. If you are visiting the Heybridge Maldon region for any reason stat in this hotel!

Really friendly people. clean room and restaurant. Would have liked a heads up that we had to book restaurant separately.

Nice place, looks recently refurbished as rooms were very comfortable, new carpets etc. Does not do food on Mondays and Tuesday, but good restaurants locally. Staff pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay again

Booked a room with a king size bed, bed and room were not very big. There was a hazard of a step between the room and the bathroom - not clearly highlighted as my fiancé caught his foot! And also dangerous when going for a wee in the night/dark as I found out. It was noisy in the morning as we could hear people talking in the hall way. Going up/down the stairs and coming/going out of the main entrance. There was old looking water stains on the ceiling and on the wall - room needed a paint. When booking I asked for something special as it was for my fiancé’s birthday but nothing special was done in the room - a little disappointed as they said they could put rose petals and chocolates on the bed. The restaurant looked really nice but did not get a chance to eat in there.

Friendly staff, clean and welcoming. Two things let our stay down, bedroom was small so bed pushed against wall with access on one side and unfortunately our room backed on to the boiler room that had something cutting in and out all night . A different room and all would have been good .

My 5th time of staying here and a very different experience to all previous visits. I travel with for work so being able to work from the room is extremely important. I always choose to stay here as the rooms are clean, well proportioned and there is usually a desk or table and chair to work from. On this visit I was allocated Room 6. Although it is classed as a double room it was tiny (you would struggle with 2 people in there) There was a small dressing table but no chairs. Hardly any plug sockets meaning I had to attend an online meeting perched on the end of the bed. Downstairs in reception / restaurant they were playing music so loud it could clearly be heard in the room. There are only so many times you can listen to the same tracks on repeat. This continued until 9.30pm and restarted at 8am the next morning. Fortunately it didn't wake me as the extremely loud kitchen extractor, which seemed to be under my window, came on at 7.15am and did the job of an alarm clock perfectly. Worth noting also that the room was incredibly cold. I would of mentioned the above on check out but there was no one there. All previous stays have been fine but probably wouldn't stay again unless I was sure I wouldn't be allocated room 6.

The evening meal, the bed and above all the staff were exceptional. A special mention to the American lady at breakfast time. A few details may need addressing : no plug for the hairdryer near the dressing table in the Junior Suite and not great lighting for doing your make up…maybe a desk lamp… The whole place is immaculate. Would definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic stay at Le Bouchon. Our room was lovely and clean with a big bed which was very comfortable. Full english breakfast in the morning was one of the best I have had! All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

All staff were really friendly from reception to bar/ restaurant staff. Rooms clean and tidy and food good, with a good selection

From the moment we arrived the staff were warm and welcoming, they showed us around the hotel and stored away our luggage ready for check in later, as we were off out. When we went to our room, we was pleasantly surprised with the facilities and everything was spotless. We dined in the hotel and and the food was exceptional. A great stay and will definitely return.

Great stay here at Le Bouchon. Clean room but very small room & bed for 2 Adults. Dining option for dinner & breakfast were very nice. Would definitely stay again but would ask for bigger room.

Hotel came highly recommended and it was very good, the food options and what was served were great!! Well done Chef. The only minus point I have is the bathroom being cramped as I'm 6'2 and literally had to crouch or lean to go to the toilet and have a shower. Minor things but otherwise all the feedback is all positive and we would both recommend and stay there again ourselves.

The friendliest welcome ever at reception and the exceptional service continued from there. Dinner at the hotel was also amazing. Can’t fault it.

Arrived to be told restaurant closed, felt as if we were unwanted relatives who had turned up without warning. Will not be staying again.

Absolutely fantastic place and enjoyed a first class meal in the restaurant. Staff were unbeatable and very knowledgeable in every way. Ours was a late booking and staff were exceptional to make us welcome and comfortable in every way. Will certainly stay again and can't rate the staff and hotel as it's defiantly 10 stars and should be a 5 star plus. Many Thanks guy's for a great welcome and stay. Mike And Rachel. X

Just booked this last minute as we were at a music festival just down the road from second one I was met with the most friendly staff I was shown round everywhere then taken to my lovely room perfect. When we arrived back we were again met with a lovely staff member and our sleep was amazing highly recommended must stay here if your in the area

On Sunday evening no restaurant availability and no breakfast on Monday morning. Also, although we were told reception was open up to 11.00pm, we were locked out at 8.55pm. Luckily I remembered the key code.

It is convenient for me and my commitments. I also find it very pleasant and atmosphere and when the restaurant is open, the food is very good.

Hotel is located 15 minutes from the High Street. Our room was beautiful and well decorated. We particularly liked the 4 poster bed. We didn’t dine at the hotel but the restaurant looks very nice and a couple of our friends said the food is divine.

Beautiful accommodation, superb breakfast and classy dinner , within 2 minutes of peaceful walk along the canal, we will visit again , I’d recommend it to others too.

A very enjoyable stay. First class treatment from reception on arrival and departure and an enjoyable evening meal in the restaurant.

Very good breakfast menu, nice rooms and friendly staff

Amazing staff, food of a high standard. Rooms especially windows need repainting, updating .Noisy if windows are left open. But I would highly recommend. Will be staying again.
