The Bull Hotel

Liked the history and originality. Welcoming, happy, helpful. Lovely breakfasts with plenty of choice. Good size bedroom, but outside plant coming in the bathroom window. Would have liked instructions for coffee machine. Good instructions to get to the car park round the back. No lift (because of age of the building). but stairs could be challenging for any with severe mobility problems.

Stayed in the dog freindly room out near the hotel car park , My wife and i were impressed with the room and the facilities. We will return.

Parking was great and available staff were excellent. Room was clean and well equipped. Being a listed building the noice traveled from outside through single glazed windows which took some getting use too . Food was good ,

The hotel is lovely and cozy. Our room had some unique features, including a window in the bathroom that overlooks the bedroom. In the evening, we enjoyed drinks at the hotel bar, which also offered games to play. This made it a wonderful place for a family stay. Thank you very much!

Lovely stay at The Bull which was made all the better by the excellent customer service. All staff were really helpful and friendly. Great location right in the heart of Bridport with parking at the rear. Breakfasts were amazing. Will definitely stay again. Thank you 😃

The restaurant was expensive and service was extremely slow. Had to keep asking for breakfast items to be replenished. The bedroom was well appointed but the bathroom floor in front of the sink creaked noisily with any movement, annoyingly at night. The car park should be signposted to show you which turning to go down. Parking was tricky as well.

We had a very pleasant three night stay at the Bull, the rooms are all different and decorated in various styles. The courtyard is potentially a very attractive space to sit, drink, eat and socialise, however it was a tad chilly during our stay and it needed a thorough tidy up to realise its full potential. The staff were great, helpful, polite, attentive but not intrusive. The food was of a good standard and breakfast was superb. There are plenty of local attractions and interesting places to visit providing you have your own transport, however being located in Bridport itself everywhere in the town is within walking distance. One word of caution when booking establish where your room is located, - I didn’t and found myself at the most distant room, which would not be a problem if you don’t have health issues as there is no lift and lots of stairs! Thoroughly recommend a stay here.

A excellent stay at Bridport , on arrival we were greeted by Emily who was friendly, helpful and efficient. Lunch and dinner were both very good, again Emily was our dinner server and made the experience very enjoyable. Our room was warm and comfortable although we found the pillows to be a bit hard , this of course is a personal thing. Breakfast was very good and the servers were again polite and helpful. Your staff are a credit to the hotel, an enjoyable stay and hopefully not our last. Parking at the rear of the hotel was a bonus.

We stayed in the deluxe double room and it was beautiful! Hotel was great location for exploring Dorset. Breakfast was perfect and we had dinner there the first night which was excellent. Staff all friendly, helpful. Courtyard garden was lovely. Catered for my gluten intolerance. Would highly recommend

The room was amazing!! We had a great time exploring around the town. The parking was a little tricky but being there on a weekend meant we were able to use the additional parking from the business next door.

Terrible. Dirty room, uncomfortable bed, old furniture. Breakfast was slow. We left after one night. In fairness to Gemma she handled it very well and refunded the second night with a partial refund for the first and understood this property is in dire need of a refurb.

Had a lovely stay. Room was very spacious and clean and all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good too.

Lovely, clean hotel. Decent sized mugs for a cuppa in the room. Fantastic shower. Gorgeous breakfast. Quick and easy book in and out. Will definitely return if I'm next in the area.

The food meet the standard, wine do not have too much choice. We selected a bottle of Pays d’Oc for dinner. But the cleanness of the hotel room do with question. A lot of dust and I have question about when did they check the bed linen and cushion cover?

The room was not cleaned properly before our arrival and was very tired in place. Pictures below.

The property is on one of the main streets in the middle of Bridport - a nice market town with lots of quaint streets and interesting not-chain shops. The Bull is an old building. We stayed in a large room set in what was once a mews but now acts as an open air eating and drinking area. The room was large and comfortable - big king-sized bed and a large bathroom. We liked the room but the bathroom in particular was in need of some maintenance. Being on the ground floor, it could have done with some net curtains as we felt people passing by or in the courtyard could otherwise see into the room. Otherwise we had to keep the blinds and/or curtains drawn which made it feel quite dark and stuffy overnight. We also felt the cleaning staff could have been a bit more thorough: although they sorted the bed, they didn't always replaced used teabags etc. - and the vacuuming left a lot of areas with dust and bits. In general, it's a nice property but we felt that more attention needs to be paid to the details, especially given the price. We would definately go back if they sorted these out.

Disappointing stay, both rooms not clean dust so thick could write in it. Room not cleaned entirely before arrival other peoples rubbish in bin and throw on bed had tissue stuck on it and tissues on the floor under desk. Tried to order avocado on toast as per menu not available on 2 days we were there. Inconsistent cooking one day spinach seasoned next day wet no seasoning running water into rest of food inedible. Breakfast items either over or under cooked on same plate. Poor quality ingredients. Generally hotel needs renovation doors all scratched on room marks on walls sold as renovated master room yet showing signs of needing repainting and holes in the carpet. Great shower and bathroom Good location with parking. Needs better check in area. Not value over priced for condition.

When we checked in we asked if the room was small.The guy said yes it was snug. Yes it was very snug and not ideal for getting ready to go to a wedding. There was no dressing table and mirror to see my outfit. you could hardly walk around the bed, for £180 we were very disappointed. We asked if we could upgrade but they only had a family room at £300 per night so we refused this.

We were given room 108, which was hot like a furnace as I understand it’s above the kitchen. I couldn’t sleep for two nights in a row because of the heat. What was best in this hotel was its staff. However, on the last day, we preebooked a table by the window for four guests and were moved into a cramped space at the back of the room. The rooms we were in also were in great need of an update.

Our rooms badly needed an upgrade. One of our rooms was 108, which was above the kitchen and was so not we could hardly sleep. Most rooms overlook the patio area, which can be noisy, and most rooms are overlooked by the rooms on the opposite side.

Nice hotel in great location. A few minor issues with the room. Room was hot but they do provide fans. Overall would recommend

Food was incredible. Staff were very nice. Only things we didn't like was how noisy it was and the bed wasn't particularly comfortable for us. Not a good combo for sleep.

Such a charming old inn, with brilliant service and excellent hospitality. The pub was convenient and delicious, and the room was perfect for our family of three; loved the decor.

Fantastic hotel, staff were amazing - especially Gemma from the front desk, was very attentive kind and helpful, especially with our 2 boys. Hotel location is insanely good for food and drink options, the room was beautiful with fresh supplies of coffee and chocolate topped up daily a real nice touch. Lovely feel for the history and age of the building, sometimes it’s nice to stay somewhere that isn’t all right angles and perfectly smooth surfaces!

Lovely hotel ideally located to see Bridport and to travel to the coast.

Fantastic couple of days. Carnival weekend so such a great atmosphere. Close to a wide range of shops fairly easy walking distance to beach if you are relatively fit but regular public transport. In summary great location. Comfortable, clean room with very friendly service. I would definitely recommend

The hotel car park is small, down small roads and hard to find without the name of the road to put into the GPS. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the hotel/bar area/restaurant was extremely busy. We couldn’t find anywhere to sit so we went outside for a wander. The hotel is right on the Main Street and within walking distance of several pubs. After a drink and wander we arrived about an hour early at the hotel and they were very accommodating with an early check in, which was very much appreciated. The hotel room was extremely small, just enough room to walk around the bed, a tv and desk although the bathroom was actually a good size and big in comparison. The windows are wooden pull up/down windows and the wood was wearing. The room and bathroom were very clean although the shower seal was mouldy in places and in need of replacement. The shower was double size, so very nice and spacious and warm although i did notice the pressure the following morning wasn’t the best. The hotel was extremely noisy at night until almost 11pm when it finally quietened down. I must admit we were concerned about how noisy it was, banging of doors, people shouting and some other very random and loud noises. But it did go quiet about 11pm and stayed quiet until the extremely noisy seagulls in the morning! The breakfast was impressive, freshly cooked, with flexible options very enjoyable. They had a small buffet of pastries, jams etc as well which was very nice.

A great hotel in the middle of Bridport

The Bull is a great place to stay: steeped in history, but furnished with all the quality facilities that the discerning traveller could wish for: friendly, efficient staff, great master bedroom, super food & excellent location!

Great location just a short drive from the beach. Plenty of shopping in walking distance and a nice farmers market on the doorstep when we were there. Helpful guide in the room detailing local activities and pleasant staff working throughout during our stay. The room was also well equipped and the bed super comfortable

An attractive old coaching inn with a relaxed atmosphere. The bedroom was characterful and very comfortable. Unfortunately, the TV controller's battery was flat. It didn't bother us on this occasion, but it might another time. Dinner was very good and well served. The wine list was a bit limited due to a change over to a new list, but an appropriate one was found. Breakfast was particularly good.

Lovely room and comfy bed. Very responsive to issues with the toilet. Breakfast- hot food took a while and on one occasion cold for 1 member of our party. Overall we'd stay there again
