The Crown Inn - Rooms

I feel like the property was making an effort but it just wasn’t the right property for us and I feel I could have made that decision better if not mislead by the online advertising. Firstly, I don’t think “free parking” should be advertised just when they mean you may be able to find a parking spot on the side of the main road (by parking halfway up the sidewalk in front of garbage bins) in front of the hotel late at night after enough other people have gone home. It was my fault to be naive enough to book a Friday night at a hotel that has a live band performing until 1145pm, but it meant difficulty getting to sleep earlier. Also the bathroom didn’t have central plumbing, so the toilet was very noisy and we avoided having a shower. The room was also a bit difficult to access with several doors and stairs making it particularly hard with large staircases. There were no staff in the morning, leaving us uncertain what to do with checkout. On the positive side, the local cover band and happy crowd we listened to until 1145pm was a lot of fun (a nice pub to visit if not staying the night), the room well heated and the beds were comfortable.

Parking is road side ..but safe...I stayed one night only...rooms are spacious,clean.

Good room and hotel for the money - however there is no parking and it is on a busy road so had to park and walk to the hotel, no towels provided for the shared bathroom facility and tv in room did not work - however the rooms are recently decorated, there is a nice selection of tea/coffee and ultimately it is good value

Avoid Avoid Avoid!!!!!!!! Unless you dont like sleeping. Tried to stay here before christmas and unfortunatley had to leave the hotel a few hours into our stay. In general it was ok at best but the noise that is generated from the pub below is unbearable especially if there is a band / karaoke going on. It was so loud that the whole room was shaking and you were unable to hear the tv even at full volume. We had no warning that this was the case with these rooms not even at check in was it mentioned. In later emails i was told its all over there social media, im assuming that they have live bands on but surely this level of disruption should be clear to the customer when purchasing the rooms. We had to leave at 10.30pm and drive home as sleep was impossible. Tried to get a refund or even a goodwill gesture as this clearly isnt advertised anywhere on expedia or on the room discriptions but have been met with total unprofessionalism from both the hotel and expedia. How anyone can think this level of noise is acceptable when people book a room to sleep in is beyond me. The easiest thing to do when they have these events on is not book the rooms out and then the problem is solved. I would also avoid expedia who are totally useless. There is no protection for the customer and the customer service is dreadful. Luckily i didnt pay a huge amount for this room £80 but others may not be so lucky.

The room was clean, but basic. There was cereal in the room for breakfast, tea and coffee but no milk. The room smelled when we went in, but we got used to it. The staff were friendly. The pub has live music on Saturday night which went on until midnight. But this was expected as it said the room might be over a function room.

The building is on London Road, about 10 to 15 minutes from the bus stop (near the church). I had booked a single room but got upgraded to a double room (larger than the 2 flats I rented when I was living in Bristol!). It was just above the pub, so it's a bit noisy until 10pm but that was fine with me as there was no noise in the corridor outside the room. The room was quite warm (19 degrees Celsius) and really dry (60% humidity), the building it old, so the plumbing is a bit noisy, but there is an electric shower, so there aren't any issues getting warm water. There is a sign above the toilets saying that blocked toilets will incur a fine of £250: this is the going rate, as I learnt from a fellow renter who had to fork out £200 + VAT to get his toilets unblocked by a plumber, and is still waiting for the landlord to refund him (he had just moved into the property). The bed was so comfortable that I didn't leave the room until the next morning (I had also found a movie I'd been wanting to watch for years on YouTube) however the pub downstairs looks like a really nice place to have an evening meal, they serve Pieminster pies, and on Sunday there is a carvery, starting at £14. I really enjoyed my stay, especially as my previous visits to Keynsham (to visit houseshares) had been disappointing. The staff/owners were friendly and non intrusive. I will definitely stay there again if I am in the area.

The staff lady who greeted us was polite and courteous and allowed us to check in a little early as the room was ready. The bar area was dark but cozy. they have a beer garden but the weather was unforgiving so we could not experience it The room was fine and the bed comfortable. The bathroom had all the amenities that you would expect and was clean. The shower was a little tight but the water pressure was great. A few breakfast items such as cornflakes, and long life orange juice were left in the room for guests. it would have been nice to have a cooked breakfast as there is a restaurant downstairs.

Fantastic nights sleep, very comfortable and surprisingly luxurious for a room above a pub. I was under the impression there was a carpark but it was on the street parking and i was worried about parking there all night but no issues. I stayed in the ensuite room and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be back.

The toilet and showeroom was seperate which was annoying, so no sink in the toilet. Opposite a noisy neighbour with karoke. Parking spaces are limited but some narrow off road parking. Kettle, coffee machine, comimentary cereal, coffee and tea bags in room. There is a sink and fresh towels which are nice. There was also a fan which came in handy. The beds are on metal frames so very squeaky with the mattress less desired. Little on the pricey end, shouldn't have been more than £50-£55 per night, paid £75 as i expected on site safe parking.

The staff are really welcoming and friendly. The condition of the accommodation is very poor and in need of desperate attention. There are clear signs of damp where the walls are peeling. There was a strong smell of damp in the room which was very unpleasant. There was no headboard on the bed, so there is staining on the wallpaper from other people’s heads which is unhygienic. There are cobwebs on the windowsill so the cleaning is not done well. There is no where to store your clothing in draws or hangers, and the clothes hooks had fallen off the wall and not been put back up. Under the sink was thick with black dirt and clearly not been cleaned, maybe ever. The WiFi is poor and I switched back to using my phones 5G as it was just unusable. Unfortunately there was an alarm going off in the room next door in the very early hours of a Saturday morning. It did not stop and I called the out of hours number. When leaving my room, the room next door appears to belong to someone affiliated with the business as there wasn’t a room number, rather a sign about gaming. Makes it even worse to be woken up at 5:30 on a Saturday morning for over 30 minutes by someone who is representing the business. Do not stay here. I was trying to support a small business but should have stayed at a Premier Inn, or anywhere else.

Room was very dirty with insects in the lights, on the window ledges etc and a few bugs creeping around the room itself. Damp around the shower and broken sockets etc - room is very much in need of a refit. I opted for the family room so I had an en-suite so this wasn't exactly a budget option. No cooked breakfast option just a prepacked croissant and pack of cornflakes with a communal fridge for milk. Parking was also on a very busy main road and a very good chance of someone clipping the car - managed to find some parking on the estate behind but get drenched walking to and from the car. Didn't opt for dining at the pub as it seemed more of a rowdy drinking pub when I checked in.

If I could leave a minus star I would. This ‘Hotel’ is a disgrace. Black mould in multiple rooms (we had to move) wallpaper falling off the walls, exposed wires, broken doors, some random dog barking in one of the other rooms through the night and very early in the morning, poorly trained staff with even poorer attitude, dirty bed linen and general shocking standards throughout. I have photos. How this Hotel has gained a score of 7 or even 3 stars is beyond me. Steer clear, stay away avoid at all costs !!!

My room was nice, clean and warm. The TV was not working so I watches Netflix on my ipad which was dissapointing.

Very clean. Good to have complementary food and drink.

Clean room

Horrendous smell of sewage through out the rooms and a dirty shared toilet. A let down as you can see the cleaners add a nice touch trying to make the room feel personal with filter coffee and snacks.

Staff were great. However, beds were really unconfirmed as the mattresses were really thin and squeeky on metal, spring bases. The room hsd a very string smoky smell which was definitely not a one off. The carpet was old and smelly. I used a baby wipe on part of the walls and you can see that they desperate

A great stay at The Crown, room 3 this week, back of the building so very quiet. Way exceeded my expectations of a pub stay!

A very old building (300 years old!!!), with character, but nicely adapted to the modern life, still maintaining its character. However, the heavy smell of smoking... was not very pleasant, at least for me. Despite being on very busy road, the noise of traffic was very well insulated, which was absolutely amazing.

I could feel every spring in the very cheap mattress so slept very poorly. The shower wasn't attached to the wall and just produced a pathetic dribble of too hot water so unusable. The cup/bowl wasn't cleaned during the day, or muesli packet replaced so i got half a very cheap breakfast and half a juice box per day. Its a budget place, but not that cheap so i expected mire. its the same price as a travelodge which offers a lot more and is actually comfortable. The staff are nice and friendly and the location is fine for a cheap visit to Bath, but I'm certainly not coming back.

The bed was comfortable and the bedding nice. I had tea and coffee making facilities with lovely biscuits. The shower worked well. The double glazing made it really quiet. The staff were really friendly as always

Let me start off saying the staff is great. They were curious, kind, and as helpful as they could be. The unmentioned shared bathroom, inoperative WiFi the staff didn't know how to fix, and fleas where not great. I've done shared bathrooms and even shared rooms, so it's not that it has a shared bathroom. Willfully withholding information on Expedia is what is so disappointing. I chose this lodging over another because the other had a shared bathroom! I ended up paying more and traveling further away to stay here. The property is for sale, so I doubt it will get any better.

Second time staying there... rats in the attic, broken toilet seat, no heating and it was freezing last night. What a difference a week makes, i had said itbwas 5 stars when i was in room 3 but room 2 was a disaster. I did raise these with them but their response was somewhat lacking in substance or empathy.

I missed check in by 5 hours as I arrived at 3am! I was welcomed warmly and shown to my room despite the time. The room was great, so warm and comfy and the in room cereals and snacks were fantastic, and the bathroom had everything you could possibly need in - chain hotels should take note!

The staff was working in the bar aswell, We asked to turn on the heater 3 times, but they never turned on. At the end we need ro leave the hotel. Never gonna cone again. If they don’t to turn on the heater then can tell us hut the lady says always it will be on in 5 minutes. Very wrost customer service and the lady thinks we were fool.

Booked through Expedia, the info and photos are well out of date. The photos show beer on handpumps but they are no longer in use. "Breakfast for a fee" is replaced by cereal and croissants in the room. No hot food available in the morning. There was no DVD player as listed, which we wanted for a particular reason. "Daily Housekeeping" didn\'t happen as no-one came into the room during our stay. I had to take our dishes to the kitchen and collect clean ones. None of the 3 lamps worked in the room and we had to wait to have them all replaced and we had to ask for the heating to be turned on as it is on a timer. None of this good for a man having treatment for cancer, travelling to attend a funeral. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and the snacks we had in the evening were nice. In my opinion, this is accommodation for workmen.

Great value in a good location.

A great budget option. We needed to find somewhere to stay whilst attending a concert in Bath and this was perfect for us. Accessable by bus to both Bristol and Bath so was really convenient. Would stay again in visiting the area.

Mixed experience. Breakfast consisted of a UPF croissant but no milk for tea or coffee, no fruit. They forgot to give me any breakfast the second morning. Friendly staff. I was glad they saved my bag which I'd left downstairs. Very noisy with the window open on the main road. I was glad for the sink in the room and the towels. Food was basic, manufactured pies. I would have liked home cooked pies. The broccoli stalks were old and shrivelled. Not good. But cheap to stay.

Quirky pub next to Rugby club in Keynsham. The building is over 300 years old so some rooms do not have mains plumbing (we were in Room 2, the quad room) and have saniflows. This isn’t too bad but does mean the bathrooms smells (we didn’t use it for anything that might smell). The shower cubicle is tiny and shower very weak. But otherwise the room was good. Bed was huge and comfortable, room clean with nice pillows and a wireless phone charger. One point to beware of the Breakfast. During booking on hotels.com, I was offered breakfast for two at a cost of £12. Which I took as it seemed a good deal and I often find pub breakfasts to be good. When we checked in, we were advised that everything we need for breakfast is in our room…individual cornflakes, sealed croissants and jam etc. I was disappointed as this isn’t clear on booking. In addition, signage at the hotel said breakfast was £5 each, not 6. We didn’t eat here but did have a couple of beers before going out out. Staff were very friendly but the pub is tiny so I could see it getting crowded later on at night. Overall a nice place but don’t expect premier inn style rooms, it’s quite dar away from that standard. I would expect a little more for £120 a night (noting we had the biggest room).

What a little gem. 15 mins from town. £15 in Uber. Friendly staff and lovely room. Will definitely will stay again

I was dubious about staying here but there was no need , quirky lovely pub - the staff were super friendly, and the room had some lovely little added things , like cotton buds in a pot , bottles of shampoo / shaving gel etc. I was in a twin room overlooking the rugby club so a quite nice view - the road was right under my window but that didn’t bother me. Bar downstairs was well stocked and I ventured into the garden and had ordered a burger with a glass of wine - wow the burger was outstanding !!! Superb food Comfortable stay in my room - I did not use the WiFi as did not know there was a code until the am before I left - code is on the room key 🙂.

This hotel was firstly extremely good value for money. However the low price does mean it come with a few shortcomings. But there are also sufficient positives to provide adequate balance. Shortcomings: bed not very comfortable. Communal shower and toilet looked tired and could do with refurbishment. Breakfast was a croissant and cereal and as such knit very exciting. Positives fresh filter coffee, instant coffee and choice of teas. Apple juice and bottled water. I’m unlikely to use this hotel again because of the bed, and lack of a cooked breakfast. That said it remains good value for money and would appeal to those on a tight budget.

Food on choice was excellent a very varied menu at a reasonable price

Very disappointed after arriving we were told that there was no food available for the evening also the pub was closed at 7pm that evening. We were also told that they no longer did breakfast but yet you were still advertising “breakfast available for a fee” ???? Through the night we were disturbed a few time what sounded like a water bubbling from a boiler ??? We had to go along the landing to get milk from a small table top fridge which was shared by everyone!! Our main concern was if anything was needed ie toilet paper etc nobody was around to ask. I can go on but I have to stop now so our rating is not very high at all Sorry 😢

Unexpected light breakfast in the room

The centrally heated room was very comfortable bed,good shower and visibally clean rooms.Breakfast only continental no cooked available! Limited evening menu due to staff holidays.
