We very much enjoyed our stay at this farm. The accommodations are comfortable, though not deluxe. The food in the communal dining hall was good. However, we skipped what we thought was an overpriced (not unusual in Iceland) buffet, with no option for a smaller meal, such as coffee and pastry. Nice outdoor geothermal pools, including one totally natural "hot pot." We enjoyed wonderful walks along the brook. A variety of walks from easy and flat to steep and challenging. A great family place offering camping options and activities, such as horse back riding. A great place to relax.

The staff is very friendly and the breakfast buffet was amazing. They have a beautiful pool and hot tub in the greenhouse as well as a geothermal pool outside which is very soothing.

This inn (and working farm) is located in a very isolated area of Iceland, the WestFjords. It is the only inn or even restaurant for many, many miles off a gravel road so it is really a destination. The inn has a pleasant vaulted ceiling reception and restaurant. Breakfast and Dinner were delicious and reasonably priced. Our room was modest but sufficient. This inn has an indoor pool, 2 outdoor hot tubs and then another natural hot pot located on the property about 100 meters/yards from the rest of the facility across a stream (so wear your water shoes).This was the highlight for us as we had been looking for a natural hot pot to experience the true Iceland.

Super friendly staff. Property is maybe 15 minutes drive on a dirt road but is totally worth the drive. Probably our favourite stay in Iceland. 3 x hot pots on site. They grow a lot of their own food. Regrettably didn’t have a chance to try any. BEAUTIFUL surroundings. Lovely room.

Excelent stay at Country Hotel Heydalur, they mean the country part. Its set on a working farm, so icelandic horses are just around the corner from your room. 2 geo pools of different temps and another pool inside a greenhouse to help wind down a day. There is also a natural geo pool across the river, which normally is easily accesed but at this time the staff described as "complicated" due to river being so high, but was able to get to by crossing shin high water in certain spots of the river. Excelent dining options youre able to pre order and arrive at the set time for. The breakfast also had many options to start the day on. Cant reccomend this place enough if youre traveling the westfjords!

Sehr nette Unterkunft. Wir sind relativ spät angekommen, wurden dennoch freundlich empfangen und konnten sogar noch Abendessen. Es gibt einige Hot Pots, welche kostenfrei 24/7 genutzt werden können. Eigentlich wollten wir spontan Vorort eine Reittour buchen, dies war allerdings nicht mehr möglich. Stattdessen sind wir Kayak fahren gegangen und konnten einige Seehunde beobachten - eine sehr tolle Erfahrung! Das Abendessen war sehr lecker und auch das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr umfangreich und lässt keine Wünsche offen! Gerne wieder! :-)

Wonderful people, food, cleanliness, and would totally recommend. I’ll admit traipsing through a decent snowbank and mud immed before our room door with no effort whatsoever to improve this was a total downer—and wouldn’t be difficult to fix.

This property is very unique and has so much character. It's a little off the beaten path to be sure but it is so charming and the staff members are friendly and welcoming There is a talking bird (he might be the manager) and two very friendly dogs to greet you. Our room was quite large and very clean and quiet. Our dinner in the restaurant was very good. We walked around the property a bit and would have gone out to the hot pot but there were several guests enjoying it and it seemed rude to intrude on them. We did stop to make friends with some of the horses. The breakfast buffet was huge and I was sorry that we couldn't stay for breakfast as we needed to get an early start. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to friends.

This property is a farm. It smells awful. The hot tub is filled with grime and bugs. The bathroom is thinner than my closet at home and the shower has a shower curtain which is an instant fail from me - the curtain gets sucked into your butt as you shower. Shower curtains are gross

Rooms are not fancy but adequate. Food in the restaurant is very good. You have to try the Puffin appetizer. It’s really delicious. Setting of the hotel is very nice with a river and horses behind the hotel. We enjoyed playing with the “pet” fox that lives on the property. It’s fun watching the fox pester the dog that also lives on the property.

Stay for more than 1 night! I returned to Heydalur after visiting last year. It’s such a beautiful comfortable haven in Iceland. Who doesn’t want homemade bread and jam with breakfast, go for a horse ride followed by a soak in a hot pot? Most comfortable bed I had in all of Iceland. Staff is lovely. Hope to return soon.

It is certainly "off the beaten path", but well worth a visit. While there is plenty to do at the Heydalur site itself, we used it as a base for day trips to other parts of the area. The valley is just beautiful. And the Country Inn, while a bit rustic, has everything you need. Rooms are comfortable and equipped with all you need (including wifi). The staff could not be better - personable, knowledgable and willing to accomodate special requests. We had dinner there every night and it was delicious - from freshly caught trout to Stella\'s delicious stuffed chicken breasts.

This inn (and working farm) is located in a very isolated area of Iceland, the WestFjords. It is the only inn or even restaurant for many, many miles off a gravel road so it is really a destination. The inn has a pleasant vaulted ceiling reception and restaurant. Breakfast and Dinner were delicious and reasonably priced. Our room was modest but sufficient. This inn has an indoor pool, 2 outdoor hot tubs and then another natural hot pot located on the property about 100 meters/yards from the rest of the facility across a stream (so wear your water shoes).This was the highlight for us as we had been looking for a natural hot pot to experience the true Iceland.

Exceptionally place full with authentic Icelandic nature, people and mountains. If move hiking then you are in right place! Lots of beautiful places and views! Can get to glacial Cap if walk a day! Natural hot springs to relax at night, sauna and pool and fjords and seals and horses! Fresh bread from Stella and jams made of wild blueberries! Highly recommend trout for dinner! All made in house and yummy

It is certainly "off the beaten path", but well worth a visit. While there is plenty to do at the Heydalur site itself, we used it as a base for day trips to other parts of the area. The valley is just beautiful. And the Country Inn, while a bit rustic, has everything you need. Rooms are comfortable and equipped with all you need (including wifi). The staff could not be better - personable, knowledgable and willing to accomodate special requests. We had dinner there every night and it was delicious - from freshly caught trout to Stella\'s delicious stuffed chicken breasts.

Excelent stay at Country Hotel Heydalur, they mean the country part. Its set on a working farm, so icelandic horses are just around the corner from your room. 2 geo pools of different temps and another pool inside a greenhouse to help wind down a day. There is also a natural geo pool across the river, which normally is easily accesed but at this time the staff described as "complicated" due to river being so high, but was able to get to by crossing shin high water in certain spots of the river. Excelent dining options youre able to pre order and arrive at the set time for. The breakfast also had many options to start the day on. Cant reccomend this place enough if youre traveling the westfjords!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this farm. The accommodations are comfortable, though not deluxe. The food in the communal dining hall was good. However, we skipped what we thought was an overpriced (not unusual in Iceland) buffet, with no option for a smaller meal, such as coffee and pastry. Nice outdoor geothermal pools, including one totally natural "hot pot." We enjoyed wonderful walks along the brook. A variety of walks from easy and flat to steep and challenging. A great family place offering camping options and activities, such as horse back riding. A great place to relax.

Rooms are not fancy but adequate. Food in the restaurant is very good. You have to try the Puffin appetizer. It’s really delicious. Setting of the hotel is very nice with a river and horses behind the hotel. We enjoyed playing with the “pet” fox that lives on the property. It’s fun watching the fox pester the dog that also lives on the property.

Wonderful property and charming character! Lucked out, as right after checking in there was an arctic fox just outside the doorway. The breakfast was one of the best I had during my trip in Iceland. Their smoked salmon was, by far, the best I had.

Really lovely place to be. The interiors are rustic, and feel like I'm staying at a someone's house. Not a bad thing at all though! We also enjoyed being greeted by a friendly cat (the cat was the star of the show). I would LOVE to come back and stay again. The area is beautiful and this would be a lovely place to use as a base to explore from.
