Goldmine Lodge

Goldmine Lodge was a great place to stay and so much more than expected. The outside was a motel design, but was really rustic looking and charming. There was a nice garden to sit in and watch birds (we came to Big Bear for birding) and barbecue grills. We had booked the Superior room for two with 2 double beds, but were given a wonderful upgrade. It was 2 rooms: on a 2 bed bedroom; the other a combined lovely rustic living room with open fireplace (wood available for purchase) and kitchen. The furnishings and design accessories were so cozy and charming and gave one a real mountain lodge feel. The kitchen was fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave, dining and cooking utensils. There was a television with Roku in each room. The location on Moonridge Road is lovely and by the ski area. We would love to stay there again!

The hotel had a few positives—clean sheets and decent beds—but overall, my experience was disappointing. The biggest issue was the dustiness; the room felt like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The equipment is very outdated, and the heater may not even work, as I couldn’t get it to turn on. The walls are paper-thin, making it hard to sleep due to noise from neighboring rooms and we are talking about hearing toilets flashing and people walking. Parking is limited, and to make things worse, I was woken up at 10 PM and told to move my car to "no parking" spot—something that was apparently allowed but no one told us that at check in. Between the lack of upkeep, noise, and parking frustrations, I wouldn't stay here again though proximity to the lifts is favorable.

Its a cute, quiet place with a little grassy area in front. Playground needs an update and so do the rooms. Showers have hot water. Has somewhat of a cabin feel. Cute lights hanging across ourside. Front desk lady or the guy inside didnt greet me, she was rude and wasnt paying attention to what i was saying. I had to go to a diffrent hotel to chrck in and no one was at the gold mine hotel for me to check out.

Spacious 2-room with kitchenette, fireplace and huge TV. Very quiet, sets back from highway, with walking trail behind location. Picnic area & BBQs on site. Just a mile from zoo and great Moonridge coffee shop. Supermarkets & restaurants within a mile. A wonderful find.

Great place for families with spacious family suites available. Our kids loved the little playground and grassy area and we appreciated the quiet, beautiful area and the nearby walking path.

Really old. Noisy wall-heater. No a/c. Bad electrical outlets. Needs an update!

Number one, it’s outdated old property with no air conditioning, number two they charge $30 fee per dog per nighg and third no one is in the office until 2:30 pm so there’s no early check in ever. You can call the number and they will inform you to come back between 2:30-3pm Outdated old furniture, dark brown old carpet that’s ripping in places, very very hot but don’t have air conditioning at all Outdated old furniture and the stay feels super uncomfortable non cozy at all! If we know about the 3 things in the beginning we would have stayed with a nicer place because we ended up paying the same when they decided to charge us $60 per night for our small dogs

Overall, it's a great value. It's on the city shuttle route and is walkable to Browne Lane parking for the snow summit. Everything is spotless (only the shower curtain needed to be washed). My only issues were that the mattress was too soft for me, and I could hear people talking in other rooms—which was not an issue after 10 p.m. Parking is almost in front of your room - excellent - and could use gravel, so one is not stepping in mud. The lodge has an oversized lot and benches for enjoying the outside. I would stay again if I could get a room with a firm mattress and only one adjoining room.

Very cute rustic hotel, was clean and quaint. Had a good sized mini fridge , microwave. Could sit outside your room in the am -bench outside rooms or go downstairs. Surrounded by trees, a nice getaway.

Room was very clean. Property was clean the room was nice had a little kitchen with working fridge and stove. Only con was walls were very thin and I could hear my neighbors next door

Our room smelled so badly that we had to go to the grocery store for room deodorizer, the carpet was stiff like it had been shampooed and not cleaned correctly, there were cobwebs and dust on the baseboards. there was nearly no parking and when we checked in we had to go to a secondary location to do so, and checked ourselves out via phone call.

They don't clean their rooms well. There was something streaming down the wall from the bathroom light switch. The mirror wasn't cleaned. They really need to wipe all of their walls. They do not dust at all. The chair in the room had stains on it. They have carpet, but they may need a better vacuum or it may be time to shampoo the carpet(although it wasn't visibly dirty). The coffee pot wasn't clean. The sad part, is that it's a really nice place, just dirty.

Very quiet and cozy. Felt like a home away from home. Staff was very accommodating. Rooms were very cleaned and kept up. Would definitely stay again!

These rooms were extremely dirty and there was extreme dust sitting on everything. Sheets were smelly and it was obvious they have not been washed. It’s worse experience with cabins and I will never go back. I wasted my money. The floor was not vacuumed or mopped. There were huge amounts of dust on everything table, couch, tv, it was horrible.

Goldmine is clean, rustic, and charming. Check-in was quick and easy. Room and bathroom were clean, water was hot and plentiful, fridge and microwave functioned properly, TV and internet were fast and glitch-free. The surrounding area was quiet and shopping dining was within walking distance. I recommend.

Horrible check in experience. Was told room was ready, went to hotel. No one there to check us in. Was told will be there in 15 mins never showed. Had to pick up keys from a different hotel. 5 teenagers behind lobby counter. Mildew banana side of bed. Sheets not washed.

It was such a cute place to stay and very clean. It had everything I needed...microwave, large TV, large refrigerator, and a lot of little special items... such as very nice shampoos, lotions, and treats like popcorn, coffee and cocoa. I would definitely book it the next time.

Hot water took a long while to arrive. The television worked but had no source for broadcast, or cable. Bed was comfy. Only slept and showered in room was gone the rest of the time

Great place for families with spacious family suites available. Our kids loved the little playground and grassy area and we appreciated the quiet, beautiful area and the nearby walking path.

Tucked in off the roadway, it was a cute little place. Noisy still, not sure what was making noise all night upstairs. Beds were short, I’m 5’11” and my feet hung off the bed with my head against the headboard.

This is a lovely little rustic diamond in the rough. The property is beautiful and our apt type room amazing!! It was spacious, clean and nicely updated. The kitchen had everything. The front desk awesome and view great!

Goldmine Lodge was the most affordable hotel we could find in Big Bear when we were booking a last-minute weekend trip. Not super fancy, but the bed was very comfortable. The only minor complaint is that the toilet and sink were very low

Gave our room away so when we arrived at 9 pm we had no where to stay. They wanted to book us a room at the local hostel which I hear has bed bugs and is dirty. Make sure you arrive early or you may not have a room.

I would not recommend staying here. Every establishment I've interacted with in this town is hiker friendly. Not this one. They want $20 to check in early. We're hiking thru on the PCT and have nowhere to go or put our packs. Do we just sat outside until someone showed up. That's correct, no one is even here until check in time. And as far as I could tell, we were the only ones staying here. One partial roll of toilet paper. Shampoo but no soap in shower. Fun. But the worst was at 9 am the morning of check out. The guy just opens our door. Check out is 10. He closes it, then opens it again. We say, "hello?" He closes the door again and knocks. We go to the door and he's holding his phone telling us what time it is. We tell him check out is 10. He leaves and we close the door.

Hotel staff was extremely accommodating to our late checkout request. We traveled with a dog and she did great in the room with us.

This review is for the "cabin" rental, not the hotel with shared walls. Going into it we knew this was a budget location, so our expectations weren\'t high. To start with the positive, the bed was extremely comfortable and we got great sleep. The place is poorly constructed so expect loud and uneven 2nd level floor boards, not great lighting, 1st level bathroom with 2nd level bedrooms, super narrow staircase, loose bath faucet, no clocks\' time match... this place could use some TLC. Oh yeah, and there was a hole in the exterior siding so there was a bird family living inside the wall of my kid\'s bedroom and it woke him up every morning because it sounded like a bird was flapping around in the room. My kid didn\'t mind... I guess it\'s charming? Having a full kitchen was nice, but it lacks the utensils and proper kitchen gear to really cook anything. We appreciated the field next door where our kid could play. Location is close to Snow Summit and Vons. Do I recommend it? If it\'s to save a few hundred dollars and you don\'t have high expectations and your wife is cool with it, then yes.
