It was great! Big downside was that the pool was closed the entire time we were there..but didn’t let that ruin our trip.

My family and I stayed for 4 nights, we stayed in two different rooms because we had 2 separate reservations. The 2nd floor oceanfront room was much better, we could see dolphins from the balcony in the morning. The 2nd day we moved to 1st floor oceanfront room, the frontdesk staff was able to help us to check in early to our new room but unfortunately the phone in the room didn't work, we could hear footsteps from guests on the second floor and the fridge made very loud noises throughout the night. Both rooms were clean, the housekeeper named Luz was very helpful and nice. The motel also provides a commercial washer/dryer, unfortunately there was only one unit available for the entire motel and always in used. We had to do laundry late at night to be able to use it.

The room I stayed in was nice, but the commotion from people playing music till 11 pm outside my room was ridiculous. And parking was right tight being almost all parallel parking and people driving significantly large trucks taking up two spots at a time. So was only a few parking spots available.

We only stayed for a night- but the room is equipped for long stays! Full size fridge and freezer. Ocean front with own entry. Private pool. Cornhole, and other games. Quick check in, clean property, ocean front, and cheap.

This place was wonderful! My son and his children stayed in a bigger unit with a kitchenette and a table in the room. It also had a gated patio area outside the door with another table and chairs. I had a smaller standard motel room that was just right for me. There is a grilling area, a nice pool and plenty of parking. The ocean is at the back of the property. Highly recommend this place.

Great little motel on the beach. Small parking lot, but in walking distance to many local places, short drives to stores, and less than a 2 minute walk from room to beach.

Amazing location. Not the newest or nicest, but well worth the price. If you are looking for an affordable hotel in the area then this is the one! Only complaint is I wish the pool stayed open later.

I booked here, Outer Banks Lodge, for a last minute getaway and it waa perfect. I didn't get an oceanfront room but the room was literally on the other side so it took a minute to get to the beach. The pool was big with enough seating for plenty of guests. I have already looked at dates to come back and stay here. I honestly think my favorite thing was NO KEY CARD, the locks were electronic so I didnt have to worry about losing it at the beach.

Front desk staff was very friendly when checking in and checking out. They sent texts throughout our staff about the storm that was coming in and what to expect. The place was very clean. We will definitely stay here again.

It was a great stay. I did have a cockroach in my room the first night which really freaked me out. The chain lock was also rusted and broken. However, very nice staff and perfect location right on the beach. The room was great size with comfortable beds.

Short walk to the ocean…clean room…restaurant choices nearby are good. Staff very friendly.

Unfortunately I also had an experience with large cockroaches. I tried to contact the motel to see if they were treating for these and they completely ignored me. Also offered to provide photos! Other than that the location great and the ocean front was convenient.

Check-in was easy and super nice receptionist. Room was okay, needs a deep clean. A Black glove was left on the dresser. Found gnats in bathroom. Floors were sandy

The motel was very clean and our room was beautiful, exceeded my expectations!

Place was very clean and a short walk to the beach. Beds were comfortable and towels were provided.

The bed was extremely hard on just a metal frame. The Window AC unit was so loud it kept waking up everyone in the room everytime it would cut on. The bathroom exhaust fan did not work.

Had a great stay at this property. Room was clean with comfortable bed, convenient kitchenette, friendly staff, and close to the Wright Memorial. We will definitely stay here again. Rooms looked recently updated or at least well maintained. Only a few minor conditions - 1 - some of the tiles in the bathroom were loose and turning up probably from water getting underneath them. The shower only has a small lip and if not careful much water could easily escape onto the floor. 2 - water pressure is pretty low but that’s probably more a water saving thing. 3 - we were on the ground floor and our upstairs neighbors were apparently installing new flooring, carving a new David sculpture, or training on a jackhammer all week at all hours (this is not the property’s fault…just our experience). Beach access was awesome and we were even called well before check-in time saying our room was ready. We generally arrive early and this would have been great if we hadn’t been at the air show in Oceana. The Wi-Fi was out the first few days due to storm damage. We used our hotspot for tv so I can’t comment on the internet or cable. If not for the noise upstairs this would have been one of our favorite stays thus far at OBX!

This was our first time staying at the Outer Banks Motor Lodge but hopefully not our last. The location of the oceanfront rooms cannot be beat. We stayed on the 2nd floor overlooking the ocean and the view was incredible. The room (2 Queen beds) was large and included a full size refrigerator, cooktop and sink.

The room was great! We paid a little extra for the oceanfront family room even though there were two of us. The view is spectacular. It has been recently updated. There were 3 beds a table that seats 6- a kitchen with a full fridge, sink etc. One bed was in a closed off room ( walls almost to the ceiling) for privacy to suit a bunch of people I guess. There was a tv in the bedroom and also in the main area- the main area TV was too small to watch from the bed. The beds are on metal frames and are sometimes noisy when you get in or out of bed - but this may have been just the room we had. The only issue was the door didn't latch completely- it sort of jiggled and one day we left for a few hours and came back to the door being wide open after we definitely had closed and double checked the lock. We originally booked one day but added another day at the last minute without any trouble. We highly recommend this place and would stay there again.

Perfect. Room was big, beds were super comfortable, kitchenette well stocked, and the ability to step out our door into the sand made for the best experience. Staff called 4 hours before check-in to let us know room was ready! Housekeeping kept us well supplied with clean towels, toilet paper, and garbage bags. Quiet and relaxing location.

The room was small, but very clean and had easy access to the beach. We had parking right next to our room which was great. There was a pool, but we didn’t use it. The TV was small and we couldn’t hear it when the air conditioner was on. There was no place to put on make up like a table or desk. Otherwise, it was accommodating.

Not the best or the worst place we’ve ever stayed - just average. The ac unit was extremely loud.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean but utilitarian. Those are the positives. On the downside, the property is showing its age, as evidenced by the attached photos. The air conditioner in our room was so loud that it drowned out the television. The sidewalk in front of our room was uneven (see photo). If I had known these things beforehand, I would not have taken a room.

I was in Room 215, second floor, ocean front, and I loved it. You could see and hear the surf 24/7. The room had a full-sized refrigerator, a small cook top, microwave, a kitchen sink and basic utensils, which I appreciated. Parking was convenient, and there were dining options within a very short walking distance. For the price, I found this to be a very satisfying stay for the money. I would definitely return.

Could have used one chair in the room. Maid didn’t knock before entering in the morning. Made for an awkward moment. And then 5 minutes later another maid walked in on us! We didn’t have a do not disturb sign on the handle. But I still think they should have knocked before entering. Check in staff and kiosk. Staff were excellent.

We had higher expectations based on the reviews. We were checked in by a virtual assistant and my room card envelope said room 109 and we tried getting in that room for like 20 minutes and we couldn’t and there was no real staff available at around 10 PM. Then I got a text message that said my room was 121. It was very frustrating. Ok stay overall.

My stay went well until someone broke a sprinkler head in front of my room. It poured into my room so much that I could not stay that night. I put towels by the door. I called the front office line multiple times as well as the emergency number. No one returned my call until the next day around noon which I was already scheduled to check out. Service was absolutely terrible for not getting back to me. I am sure I was not the only one calling.

The worst hotel experience ever!!! We called to let them know we had been delayed due to an accident… stated they would leave our room key in lobby. Arrived and no key no number no security no room. Checked the room # he gave us and nothing. Kiosk in lobby broke. Looked for onsite anything and nothing. After having the local police and a guard from neighbor hotel look for a live person we sat in the parking lot until 9am the next day. Upon talking to the rudest manager ever whom said she could care less she then said we were in the wrong for being so upset. Mind you we had our 76 yr old mother who had health problems and they didn’t understand our issue! Not even an we are sorry that shouldn’t have happened or we made a mistake… NOTHING! This was all after they took the money days before the check in when it was stated a pay at check in. Then there was a $480 fee we never figured out. All of this while her desk had Narcan and fentanyl testing kits for the guests she said! What a nightmare period. The property wasn’t kept. Towels and to in the lobby for whomever to use due to no staff after 11pm. No security or good lighting. To top it off she said she didn’t like mine or my sisters attitude and we could find other accommodations 😡. Which we did and the staff at those hotels were amazing and saved our vacation. I would stay in a box under the pier before this place.

Our stay was really good. The motor lodge is very well kept and you can tell it has been updated. They have done an amazing job with the updates too, but what shines most about this place is the service. The staff is amazing. So friendly and so accommodating. They go out of there way to say hello and carry on conversations with you, showing that they really care. I don’t have anything negative at all to say and the only reason for a good rating and not excellent is that the beach access is so great and convenient, however it is a struggle to climb over the dunes. I wish they had a walkway but I do understand that they are doing the best they can with Mother Nature. My rating is only for travelers that may have a hard time with mobility. Other than that I highly recommend this place. Thank you to Linda for her hospitality and all the staff.

I was called the day of my reservation letting me know my room was ready early! Such a personal touch. At check in, the owner was fantastic and friendly. The room was spotless. The view AHHHMAZING! I will definitely stay here again when coming to OBX.

My wife and I love this place but if you book a room here go ahead and get ocean front it will be totally worth it! This place literally sits on the beach and the manager that works here is really nice and she'll do whatever she can to help make the perfect stay.

The stay was good. My only complaint was that the staff was non existent. I never saw a single staff member from check-in to check- out. Not one. My check in material was on the desk at check in. When we left… no one. I went to the office to get more coffee on the second day. No one. Very strange.

Beachfront was very nice. If you want a view from balcony, go for 2nd floor...1st floor, the ocean would be hidden by the dune. Overall, very nice and would stay here again. Biting flies were very bad on the beach, so pack DEET. Maybe it was just this time of year (mid-May).

What a great stay especially for the price! Everyone was super friendly at check in. They are right on the beach and there is an amazing restaurant right across the street. No need to spend money on the big chain hotels this is the place to stay!!! The room was nice, quaint and clean. There want much water pressure in the shower but it was enough to do its job. They have a new Kiosk thing for check and out. It was super awkward coming up on zoom at check out but other than that a really nice place.

We loved our little recently renovated room. After many days on the road it was refreshing to have a clean and comfortable room. The self check in was easy and convenient. The location was great for walking to nearby restaurants. Millers was great for breakfast and American Pie was great for a pizza dinner. It is right on the beach so made for a nice relaxing time.

Everything is convenient and one step to the ocean! The room is clean and cozy. It was especially nice that the kitchen has everything you need to cook food - from forks and cutting boards to stoves and pans! 👍 But you can also skip cooking, and go across the street and eat in a small restaurant!

Front desk called us early to let us know room was available for check in, the room was very clean upon arrival. Kitchenette had pans, dishes, everything we needed to make dinner a few nights, including full size refrigerator. Pool is nice for kids, plenty of chairs and loungers. Short walk to beach from the court yard. Quiet even though other guests were out and about. This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here. Great value for the money, close walking distance to restaurants.

On a beautiful beach. Plenty of parking. Dining options including a homemade ice cream and pizza shop across the street. Nice size, clean efficiency room with comfortable beds.
