The hotel sits on a hill above the city. The funicular takes you down to street level with a 5-10 minute walk to the center. The views from the hotel were worth it. Limited restaurant options (fine dining or bar, which was excellent). Every corner of the hotel was a delight! The Turner suite was spacious and amazing patio and views!!! The pictures didn’t do it justice.

This property is amazing! My wife and i stayed in a duplex room and made it our home base while traveling around switzerland for 8 days. The duplex room was more than sufficient for our needs. It had great views, comfy beds and a nice size bathroom area. The staff were super helpful at every step! Whenever we needed them or asked for something they were there! The funicular worked every day that we were there as well. We walked to the chapel bridge area and train station everyday. Its an easy and safe 25ish minute walk which we enjoyed. We also enjoyed the easy trails located behind the hotel. We used them one rainy afternoon. Overall its a super lovely and beautiful hotel and we enjoy spending our trip here!

A somewhat quirky hotel that is not your run of the mill location. Popular among Amercans. Major glimmers of 19th century charm away from the bustle of Lucerne, yet very close via the funicular (or mini tram), which is charming and free for guests. A great place for gentle hikes and walking in the woods. Lucern has a clear culture of kindness. Be sure to fit in with the flow and be a gracious traveler!

The hotel is amazing with a great location. We had a perfect view of lake Lucerne from our room. The lift to go down to the main town was right next to the hotel and it was easy to get to the city from there. Our room was clean, large and spacious. There was a great restaurant in the hotel and the staff was warm, courteous and extremely helpful. There was parking at the hotel as well. Would highly recommend staying here.

I highly recommend this hotel! The staff and property were incredible and the views were the cherry on top. I loved having parking on site. There is not a fitness center or spa but we truly didn’t miss not having the two days we were there. Close to bus stop.

Beautiful hotel. Lots of character and that castle-feel we hoped for. The hotel's funicular to transport you straight to town was great. All employees were very friendly and helpful. We very much appreciated the fan provided in our room as it did not have air conditioning (typical for Europe). They offered us prosecco when we checked in which allowed me to forgive the 1 stray hair we found in the shower. We would definitely recommend.

無料で部屋をグレードアップしていただき、かなり広いお部屋でした！一泊だったのがもったいなかったです。泊まった部屋には空調設備が無かったですが、暖かかったので問題なかったです。ミニバーは無料で、ビール2本、コーラ2本、チョコ二つついてました。どれも美味しかったです。シャワーの出も問題無く流れもよかったです。

What a dream! This place is a MUST if you are staying in Lucerne, getting to town is super easy as the hotel has a tram that brings you down to the city in 2 minutes! The views can't be beat. The hotel is exceptionally clean, the restaurant is world-class and the staff couldn't be friendlier. The lounge next to the lobby is an excellent place to unwind at the end of a day of walking the beautiful streets of Lucerne and enjoy a night cap. 11/10 can't wait to go back!

Nice hotel, beautiful views, great staff, comfortable beds. Be aware if traveling in warmer months, regular rooms have no air conditioning. I find that unacceptable for high end hotel. The main purpose of hotel is to provide there guests a comfortable room to end your day with and get a goodnight rest. Can’t do that in a warm humid hotel room. Very disappointing. There suits are air conditioned only.

The Chateau Gutsch was fantastic. The food was incredible, the views were amazing and the room comfortable. Our only complaint was the temperature of the room as the hotel has no air conditioning and it was about 80 degrees in the room. Fortunately, they provided us with an extra fan and we slept with the doors open to help cool us down. Would definitely stay again.

If you are looking for a beautifully kept, boutique hotel with amazing service look to father. The front desk staff is wonderful. Free welcome drink on arrival. Beautiful restaurant, bar, and rooms. Breakfast is an added fee but WORTH IT. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. If you are a couple looking for a romantic place to stay, you have found it.

Overall, the experience of staying at Chateau Guetsch was amazing. You can't beat the view on the lower patio for breakfast in the morning, overlooking the city as the sun rises above the swiss alps. It's truly an incredible start to the day. Then, at night, you close out your day with a drink at the bar sitting on the upper patio as the city lights turn on during sunset. The history, unique feel, and modern updates make it a really special place. With that in mind, a few things that I wish we were made aware of prior to our stay... 1) The hotel doesn't do a great job of informing guests how to get there on arrival, it would be great if there was a step-by-step guide with pictures to help you out - whether you are coming from the train station, car, bus etc. We found it day 1, but it was pretty inconvenient. With two large bags, we fortunately were able to carry those in the places where there is no elevator or escalator. 2) Lucerne feels incredible safe, it's an amazing city and must see place if you are traveling to Switzerland for the first time. The only dodgy area we experienced unfortunately was right by the hotel, where you have to jump on a funicular/tram to get up to the hotel. We actually changed our walking direction the second night because we felt unsafe a few blocks from the hotel. If you go to Lucerne, you must do the Mt. Pilatus adventure, and do the round trip. i.e. Gondola, Cableway, Cogwheel, and Boat. Unreal experience, truly amazing.

The Château itself is very beautiful, as was our room and the views, however, the hotel had an event we were not aware of that had very loud music with a DJ, from around 3 PM till 10 PM right outside our balcony. It was not a relaxing stay due to this. Also, the lounge area, garden area, and some other areas were closed off to the guest of the hotel due to this event. Had we known this, we would not have booked this place as we wanted a relaxing evening. We had dinner in one of the restaurants and were very displeased with the waiter and service, he just brushed us off many times. Also, the menu is very limited and overpriced for what was received. For the price we paid with the inconvenience, I cannot give it a five star review.
