Carpets were dirty and unhygenic, whole property were smelling and i had two kids one infant and one 4 year old girl . They could not sleep whole night due to smell and unhygenic condition. I would highly appreciate if expedia could refund some sort of money as my infant and my daughter coukd not sleep whole Night due to unhygenic enviornment. Expedia should not promote such a smelly properties

I liked the free Wi-Fi, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioner worked well and the location was good but the kitchen and bathroom were dirty. Soap scum in the shower, the shower curtain smelled, the microwave and kitchen floor were dirty and the fridge had a weird smell. I'm okay with old as long as it's clean but we won't be back.

So dirty and smelly. The place just reeked of bleach. Hair all over tub and shower. Beds were not made and comforters were just sort of spread out on the bed. Should have spent the extra money and stayed somewhere else.

Pretty much what I expected based on the info and photos when I booked. The room is in serious need of a deep clean, but at least the sheets were clean. Perfectly fine for a night to sleep.

The suites should be closed until they do some work to them!! I suggest closing them and redoing the insides completely . It was so dirty….. we didn’t want to stay but we had already paid. It stunk so bad and really triggered my allergies. So I didn’t sleep. Beds were ok but the sheets are old and scratchy. The kitchen counters were clean but don’t look at the floor and corners. The bathroom was clean but the tub was dirty and stained, no one showered . There was food crumbs on the coffee table in the living room. Pillows from the 60s and family apart. Overall, disgusting!! DON’T STAY THERE!!

The room was dirty and in urgent need of repairs. All cosmetic but dirty because of uncleanable surfaces. Bed was comfy. Kitchen was okay, but lacking a few utensils like a frying pan lifter, etc.

This was one of the most disgusting places that we had ever stepped foot in. When you walked in you were slapped with a smell of age, musk, and stale cigarette smoke. Although the bedding seemed clean, the carpets were not… At all. this place was so disgusting that we decided to shower with flip-flops on… Which didn’t actually help because the drains were plugged and all of the shower water just came up over our feet anyway. We spent our entire evening looking at other accommodations for the following night and ended up checking out the following day. I recommend just paying the extra $50 to stay in the hotel down the street.

For the price? It's a bargain. I booked a standard room but in fact it had a fully equiped kitchen, living area with sofa and 42" flat screen tv, separate bedroom with tv. We booked extra nights.

Quiet adequate accommodation for the night. There appeared to be no heating in the main bedroom, but adequate blankets were provided. Difficulty experienced on check-in with payment-machine appeared to be down so needed to pay cash; fortunately I had enough cash with me

Bring your own coffee, milk, sugar and dishsoap. I preferred to use my kettle. Lots of space. Old bedspread and insulating blankets. Windows allow fresh air for decent sleep.

The motel was extremely old. There were electrical cords on the floor and strung on the walls. I would suggest detonate not renovate. Beds were comfortable. Internet access was extremely difficult and there were only 2 specific areas in the room you could get access - one of which required you to stand up. For the price, I would say NEVER stay here.

The man who checked us in was very friendly helped us with checking in and was very kind. Assisted us. The suite was good. We had a kitchenette, bathroom, living room with all the pots/pans, dishes. We bought paper towels, regular size soap and shampoo as we were there for 10 days. We swapped out the towels for more new clean ones after a few days. We had everything we needed. If your looking for a squeeky clean, new updated place this is not your stay. The beds and linens were clean but the motel room is older. If your looking for a quick and easy room for cheap this is the spot ..we traveled to nanaimo, ladysmith, tofino easily and its in a great spot near restaurants gas stations, tims, save on foods. It did the job for 10 days. The motel is attached to a trailer park which is fine, but be aware of your surroundings at night as there is some colorful charachters at night in the area. I would stay here again.

Not so good I paid for 3 nights and the motel started packing my bag after 2 nights while I was out. Before realizing I was good for 1 more night. They packed my dirty laundry in with my clean clothes, the thew my toiletries in the garbage and slippers were put in my food cooler. Before they realized the mistake they made as the room receipt was on the table. Very poor service, although they did apologize.

The owner/operator was challenging to communicate with both in person and by phone. Very old property with some maintenance so not completely run down but definitely not in good shape, in need of serious upgrades. Beds were reasonably comfortable, no offensive odors and we didn’t see any bugs so that was good. The trailer park behind the room was totally sketchy with people up and about all night long, although they didn’t make a lot of noise, it felt very unsafe. You must check in before 8pm and the office smells terrible. The pictures look better than real life. It would be worth a few more dollars to stay elsewhere, we will not return.

Positives: Fairly clean, comfortable bed, heating was good especially during cold season, very affordable, staff member at reception was friendly, most kitchen appliances were useful. Negatives: Bad smell during the first day (with good ventilation and heating on, it went), shower did not work to begin with and when it did water was freezing.

The host was not very polite and seemed in a big hurry to check out for the day. The bedroom was hot as A/C didnt reach the room. The bed was comfortable enough, but the suite looked straight out of the 70's. We were provided with enough clean towels and kitchen equipment and he was quick to replace the broken toaster. I'd never been to Port Alberni, but the neighborhood was older, but safe enough. The cost did not reflect the quality and I'd probably not return, unless I needed a quick rest stop.

This property is squarely in the worst part of Port Alberni. Surrounded by a dilapidated trailer park. Locals mentioned to us that it is often rented by the hour. Staff booked us into a room that was already occupied by another guest. Checked us in at 12:00, but cut could not get us in early (we traveled to PA for an afternoon birthday celebbration) and when we returned later in the evening, we discovered the double booking issue. Had to bang on doors for over a half hour only to be told to go awa. Had to refresh the person’s memory that it was he who had checked us in earlier. After an hour we finally got a room…and let me tell you it was not worth the wait. Stay away from this property at all costs. Scraping underneath the bottom of the barrel.

It is unreasonable to expect a 5 star experience at a 2 star price. For the price, Sunset is a good deal. The room was large, clean, had two beds in the bedroom and a cot in the main room. It had a kitchen, which we didn't use. Previous comments complained about the neighboring room and her dog. The dog is intimidating but actually friendly, as was the neighbor. There was a lot of noise from the adjacent mobile home park but closing the windows eliminated that

The host was not very polite and seemed in a big hurry to check out for the day. The bedroom was hot as A/C didnt reach the room. The bed was comfortable enough, but the suite looked straight out of the 70's. We were provided with enough clean towels and kitchen equipment and he was quick to replace the broken toaster. I'd never been to Port Alberni, but the neighborhood was older, but safe enough. The cost did not reflect the quality and I'd probably not return, unless I needed a quick rest stop.

This property is squarely in the worst part of Port Alberni. Surrounded by a dilapidated trailer park. Locals mentioned to us that it is often rented by the hour. Staff booked us into a room that was already occupied by another guest. Checked us in at 12:00, but cut could not get us in early (we traveled to PA for an afternoon birthday celebbration) and when we returned later in the evening, we discovered the double booking issue. Had to bang on doors for over a half hour only to be told to go awa. Had to refresh the person’s memory that it was he who had checked us in earlier. After an hour we finally got a room…and let me tell you it was not worth the wait. Stay away from this property at all costs. Scraping underneath the bottom of the barrel.

This hotel is a great value for the area. It was great to have a kitchenette. It was not fully occupied despite the No Vacancy being displayed. The property is rather dated though - only plugin in bathroom is only for a razor and too high up for useage.

Everything was great but guy at desk was kinda unhappy fellow. Air conditioner was great in the living room kitchen area but still a little warm in the bedroom room. All in all All worth the 116 incl tax. Super close to casino,eating places including fast foods has stations etc.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we arrived later in the evening. We were unable to check in. We knocked on the door and phoned with no response. As a result we had to find alternative accommodations 10 pm that evening.

It’s a great little affordable place. It’s an old fashioned spacious apartment with everything you need. We love motels and will stay again when in Port Alberni. 5 star review 10 out of 10
