Redwings Lodge Dunstable

Property was as expected, value for money for budget hotel. Room was clean but could have done with a fan or air-con during hot weather. Breakfast is only a complimentary free snack ie toast, cereal but ideal when on the move. My overall of the hotel was good and would stay again however on this visit unfortunately my van was broken into in the carpark along with multiple others that night

Need to install security gates..one night had 3 or 4 vans eadily broken in to

Does the job for a one night stay. McDonalds half a mile walk away. Free Parking and wi fi.

Reasonable price, friendly reception, but 2 double beds and a single in the same room left little floor room. Pity no bar or food any where near. Did have a vending machine with soft drinks crisps and chocolate. Continental breakfast okay but no fruit.

For the price this was excellent - very friendly staff, convenient location - right off main road so quite noisy but also a field with sheep in out the windows on quite pleasant. Lots of free parking and basic breakfast included. Couldn’t for more - haven’t put five star as quality of furnishings, pillows etc is not what you’d expect if you pay more but for the price it exceeded expectations and I’d return for a overnight stay

Basic accommodation, but all we needed for an overnight stay. Good sized room. Bed was comfortable. Towels in good condition. Everything was clean. Breakfast was better than expected. 5/6 options for cereals, different sliced breads for toast, jams and spreads. Individually wrapped croissants. Lovely creamy individual yogurts. Unfortunately eating in reception there are Only 2 tables (one 4 seater and one 2 seater)

Clean and friendly service. Very basic facilities (which is all we really needed). No bar or area to hang out in if you arrive early and have nowhere else to be. Breakfast was a serve yourself very basic affair also. It did the job, but I wouldn't go any further than that....

Conveniently located on the A5 and next door to a diner style restaurant. Rooms are a decent size and set up for a business trip with desk and chair. Wifi is a bit slow, depending on what you are trying to do , but OK for emails etc. You will need ear plugs if you are a light sleeper due to the traffic noise. Unfortunately the person above my room spend all evening and night until 1am running around their room and repeatedly jumping off the bed on both nights I was there, so I didn't get a great sleep. Reception staff friendly and a simple, serve yourself breakfast thrown in. There is a small area with microwave, fridges etc. if you wanted to get your own food in rather than use the restaurant.

The bread was old and moulded. Saw a mice running out of the hotel at night. Room cleanliness was average. Mattress and pillow uncomfortable.

Room was spotless and staff are great.

It's a 2 star hotel, so I could totally accept that the bed was uncomfortable because it was too old and the breakfast selection was quite limited. What I could absolutely not accept was how filthy the bathroom was. Was it even cleaned before we checked in? We found pubes and some sort of brown slime around all the taps. I had to flush the toilet before use since there was toilet paper floating in when we entered the room. The shower head looked disgusting and the bath tub was covered in dark spots. Luckily it was only for 1 night so we decided it was safer to not take a shower and we brushed our teeth with bottled water as we didn't trust the tap was clean enough.

Our room and bedding smelled musty and in need of a good airing. We left the window open to get fresh air in but unfortunately had the closest room to the A5, and were all kept awake by traffic noise. There were stray hairs on the bedside table and in the shower. Breakfast was very "amateur", just a few (3) tables set up in the reception area.

Budget hotel, staff were friendly enough and breakfast was a nice complimentary boost albeit very strongly set out at the bottom of the stairs and not in a room where you could sit down and enjoy it. There was a lot of rubbish around the grounds, particularly Yogurt pots discarded out the window from a guest and building materials left scattered around. Bin area was very unclean too. The room was neat and tidy but the floor was covered in hairs, human hairs I thought I would clarify as it is dog friendly. Bathroom was covered is very old tiles with many holes, cracks and patches. Perhaps the most annoying thing to me was no plug sockets or USB near the bed which is annoying when I like to keep my phone nearby as I fall asleep.

Initially I thought the room was clean and ok, but then in the evening cigarette smoke was coming into our bathroom. Our room wreaked of cigarette smoke and after complaining twice I was told there was nothing they could do!! I mean it is a non smoking lodge, so if you want to smoke in the rooms then this is the place to stay as nothing is done about it, but if you are a non smoker I wouldn’t stay here. I am appalled at the response from the management who said the next morning after we had vacated the room they couldn’t smell smoke. I had opened the windows to try and get rid of the smell. I definitely won’t be staying here again or at any of the other Redwing Lodges.

Cant fault the receptionist and the room is cery clean and a good size. Only problem is the window frame is bent so the windows dont seal and the traffic on the main road is constant which means its very difficult to sleep

Not great, room was clean, tidy and spacious. Had a family room (double bed and a single) the single bed was comfier than the double, the double was very springy, the duvet was that thin that we didnt know there was a duvet on the bed, there was no extra option of pillows. At 5 am there was noise from people walking around upstairs assuming to use their toilet but you can hear any movement. Dont pay to check out late with the intention of having a lie in because the cleaning staff seem to let all the doors in the building bang closed and you can hear every movement of cleaning being done in rooms around your own. If you need a cheapish hotel with a basic cereal or toast breakfast and arent bothered about the quality then here is your place to stay.

Good points: It was convenient. Reception on arrival was pleasant. Large free car park. Not good: Mattress was too soft. No air-conditioning nor fan on an extremely hot day. Two windows opened slightly only to let hot air in and noise from the sheep in the adjacent field and constant road noise all night. The room and bathroom need upgrading and a deep-clean - it’s all very tired... Breakfast was only just acceptable, nothing more. Disappointed.

I had not seen recent reviews of this hotel when I booked - the ones I had seen turned out to be out of date. From the outside, the hotel looked dated, and this was not helped when we got inside - a very small reception area, which we were informed doubled as a breakfast space. When we got to our room, we found out that the ties restricting the opening of windows were slightly loose, and the windows themselves wouldn't shut properly (the handle was broken). In addition, it transpired that there was no bolt on the door - people wouldn't be able to get in from outside, but there was nothing to stop young children opening the door from inside and wandering off! We informed the member of staff on duty of this and they found a different room - this had the same issues. In all, we had to look at five different rooms before we got a suitably safe one. This is NOT acceptable. The result of all this was that, having booked a room with a double bed and two singles, we had a room with just a double bed. I had to use the cushion from the sofa as a mattress and sleep on that. It should be noted here that the sofa has unrepaired damage to it (see photo). When we left in the morning, we decided not to have the breakfast that was included (cereal and toast in the reception area), but go and spend more money elsewhere. A very disappointing stay - the only saving grace was the staff member on duty who did all they could to resolve our issues with the room(s).

Clean, comfortable and quiet. Lucky enough to be allocated a room not facing the main road. Room was really clean and well maintained.

We stayed in Room 10, which was closest to the road, on a Wednesday night, during a school holiday. The traffic noise was still loud at 10.45pm and woke me in the morning. Earplugs would have solved the problem, if I'd thought to take them. My 11 year old slept through it. The sheep in the field, outside our window, were delightful. My king size bed was very comfortable but squeaked loudly whenever I moved. My son's single bed was hard but he did manage to sleep. The room and bathroom were spacious. The hair and body wash were fitted high on the wall, close to the shower fitting but couldn't be reached, if a soak in the bath was desired. It's an older hotel and the sockets are near the dressing table. There aren't any beside the beds. The king size bed had bedside tables but there weren't any beside the 2 single beds. There was a chair at the dressing table which could have been moved but we didn't want to risk putting a cup of water on a padded seat, for the night. The continental breakfast was disappointing. It's set out in the reception area, so there are 3 tables and very limited space. Breakfast is served 6 - 10am, so juice is kept in the tabletop fridge. There's only room inside for 2 jugs; milk and orange juice, so no apple juice was available. There were no plain croissants, only prepacked ones with a jam or chocolate cream filling. There were only fruit yoghurts; apricot and mango or cherry, and bread to toast or cereals. We ate in our room.

Although we didn’t have much interaction with the, staff when we did they were friendly and helpful. The room was a bit disappointing as ithad no electrical sockets near the bed so it was just luck that I could get the supply for my sleep apnea device to reach the bed.

Stayed with my falling of 6. Had 2 good size rooms with large beds. Carol the manager was very nice and greeted us well. Over all the price was great and the room was clean. We’re not big breakfast people so we were happy with what was on offer. Would definitely return. Thanks again redwings very good budget hotel .

The service was okay but could have been better. Staff were not too friendly. Simple courteous gestures make all the difference and these were lacking. For example, when we arrived there was nobody at reception and we waited ages until we got fed up and shouted, "Is anybody there?" A voice came back, "I'll be with you in a minute." but she still took a long time to appear. However, the worse thing about this was that when she finally arrived at reception, desk we received no, Sorry to keep you waiting." On leaving, a different receptionst dealt with us and there was no simple courteous gestures such as "Thank you for your stay. Have a safe journey home." As a customer , that feels like they don't care whether you were there or not. Attention to detail was lacking regarding room prep. A large dead moth was on the windowsill and it would have been nice if it had been removed before our arrival. Also, we had booked a room for 3 people and had a double & single bed, yet they only gave us 2 mugs. The breakfast arrangement was lovely and if they take their customers reviews seriously & humbly, Redwings Hockliffe has the potential to become a charming little place to stay.

Just returned from a good stay at Redwings Dunstable. We used the hotel as a base whilst attending the British GP. The hotel was clean and tidy and served as a good base. The staff were friendly and welcoming would definitely return and stay again

What can I say!!! Had a fantastic weekend staying at this hotel. The staff were welcoming, Danielle & Chloe (I think, sorry) were extra helpful by helping us carry our luggage and stuff to the hotel. Because of back problems they did give us loads of pillows without question. Emma was fantastic in the evening and was soooo accommodating with everything we asked. The location was perfect to where we needed to be so 💯 just what we needed in a hotel. Great weekend had ❤️❤️❤️

Clean room and friendly staff.

Check in was good gentleman was very polite. Evening time all you could hear was a couple arguing outside our window this went on for most the night and early hours of Friday morning which kept my son awake. The 2nd night again the couple arguing in the early hours of Saturday which woke me up. Then early morning someone in the room above us was allowing their child to run around jumping. Then jumping on the beds and then off of them which woke us up. I spoke to the gentleman at reception who admitted to knowing the couple was arguing both nights but did not stop them and allowed it to carry on. As I was leaving there was then a couple sitting outside the front right by the entrance smoking weed. Safe to say I won't be staying again

Ideal location. Good parking. Free Wi-Fi. Staff friendly and helpful. Had a problem with a missing tv remote but soon rectified. Catered for me being gluten free for the continental breakfast. Pity next door restaurant is still shut. Price for our dog was £15, which I think is high. Stayed here a few times and will again.

Room was clean but dated furniture needed changing bed ok but the sofa was dire . Bathroom ok but would have been better with just a shower . Very good value for money though ideal for Luton airport

Redwings is ok just wish they would fix there windows they are in such poor condition you can hear traffic, road noise all night. Other than that it's ok room was warm there's plenty of hot water, tea coffee and tv.

Just an overnight stay en route to the airport, but with 4 of us in one room - the family room offered a double bed and 2 singles which was so much better than a sofa bed. very pleased with the room and cleanliness. Breakfast was pretty basic but the price was very good.

Was not expecting the ritz at the price we paid. Check in was fine,room where good had a family room and had I king and two large singles,king size mattress was soft but but if that’s what you like fine. Shower was brilliant good power. Breakfast was a bit weird as stated Continental, which is basically cereal, croissant or toast or yoghurt. This is located by the stairs very tiny lol. No room to sit in and eat so took it to the hotel room. Overall got what we paid for. Ps thank you to laundry man trying to fix his van at 7:30 in the morning by smashing the hell out of it with a hammer.

The room was basic but clean. Shower didn’t work. Took a bath but no non-slip mat and no floor mat made the process very dangerous No soap available at the correct height when using the bath. Electricity kept going out which was irritating. Breakfast facilities very poor. Food choices poor, I am gluten free and there was no option even though I paid for breakfast. I do not think customers should be made to sit in the very small reception area to eat . Staff were okay. Heating worked
