Skogar Hostel

Hostel rooms nice and bathroom down hall. Very clean and well kept. Very convenient location after day of exploring south coast before heading further east. Walking distance to Skogarfoss and museum. Quiet

Nice place and location but the power went out on my second night

An okay automated check-in/check out hostel near Skogafoss. Compared to other guesthouses and hostels it feels quite a bit pricey and doesn't mean a lot in terms of location as both Selfoss and other nearby regions serve as good hotspots. The room was good in terms of cleaning, however, there were no sockets at all for electricity apart from a USB-A + C combo. This is quite bad for several reasons as it restricts devices any travelers may use, and also medical equipment. There was also a big issue with the sounds of the place, specifically the doors, were despite a mechanism being in place it slams every single door, of every tenant, hard against the walls echoing across the entire level you sleep on. Multiply this with the amount of guests and it is absolutely bonkers, as there is a huge slam every other minute, this is the biggest complaint I have, and by far the worst noise generator across Iceland stays, and severly affects the experience both during day time, but especially during nights/sleep. Breakfeast is not included. And can be bought for an extra cost, which we skipped due to the already higher price of stay. There is also a kitchen at the bottom floor were tenants can cook which seemed to have what's required. Showers were shared in closed cabins and were good, there was also toilets enough for the tenants.

good opportunity to stay for one (or a few) nights, with as well a kitchen for self preparing meals at disposal it is impressive how well it seems to work sharing the common amenities such as kitchen and bathrooms with people from everywhere, having the only commonality to stay shortly in this hostel

There was not a single 240v power outlet in the room for folks needing to have one (e.g. require a medical plugin device) which wasn't anywhere in the description. There were only a couple of USB connectors which doesn't help 240v needs. Had I have known there weren't any, I would have needed to select another lodging. Please include in the description of the lack of 240v power.
