Well located for Dumfries house only 7 minutes this is by Far the best hotel in the village with a good restaurant and bar. Even though there was a wedding during our stay we heard nothing and had an excellent night's sleep

Visiting southern Scotland , this hotel met our expectations. An older hotel , its remodeling was quite stunning . The rooms / restaurant/ bar were all very inviting. I felt its price was appropriate and I give it a 3.5 star rating personally. It’s a bit off the beaten path but I’d recommend highly if your trip planning takes you in that direction.

This hotel was beautiful, clean, friendly and had a fabulous food in the restaurant. The staff were only to happy to please, we were going to a wedding so stayed here for one night before the wedding. We asked for a late checkout so we could get ready and they said yes with no extra charge or problem. We were running a little late so phoned down for an extra 1/2 hour and again they were only to happy to accommodate. I will be returning, one of the best stays in a beautiful hotel thank you

Arranged a late check in of 1am due to being at a wedding on day of check in. Arrived, and was sent to a room which had not been cleaned - bed was made, but there were cans and glasses, dirty toilet, stain on wall and spillages. Went down to let reception know - they said they could check if they had another room but would come and clear the glasses. Moved to another room at the time; the only option at the time as we just wanted to go to bed having been out all day. Other couple we were travelling with had used sanitary towels in their bin, which had not been emptied. Next morning, they let us know that they would not be charging us extra for the upgrade. Emailed manager later, who said as we accepted the room upgrade and they discounted our stay by £10 that they wouldn’t be providing a refund.

Beware. This hotel has issue with Soil pipes. Our room was unbearable in the bathroom and had to have the door closed. Unable to use the toilet because of the stench. Reported to hotel staff - who advised ‘Yes we know - the cleaner forgot to put a plug back somewhere’ ?!?!?? Was then advised an ‘Operations Manager’ would call to discuss - 5 days later still waiting……… despite me calling to chase. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Staff really helpful. Room nice. Good choice of food. But the thing that let the stay down was the Internet was no terrible. I needed it as I had work to have ready the following day, but was unable to get any of it done. I did go and talk to the receptionist and they said that they would re boot it. Had no affect.

This hotel was beautiful, clean, friendly and had a fabulous food in the restaurant. Lovely hotel with friendly, welcoming staff. Our room was huge with a big sitting area and an enormous bed. Our only mishap was at dinner when I was served chicken tempura instead of vegetable tempura.
