The Seagate

The hotel is close to shore and handy for enjoying walks. It is a friendly homely hotel and the staff are very helpful and obliging and very importantly it is dog friiendly and their every need is catered for. I would certainly stay there again.

Great place to stay! Very dog friendly. Room was very nice with nautical theme. Staff were excellent. Appledore is a lovely little town with great views and old fashioned streets to explore. Highly recommend this hotel

Friendly service. Comfortable room. We had a nice meal in the pub. Good news if you're coming by car: there is free parking along the quay.

Our hotel Seagate was amazing. The staff very helpful & polite. Our room was fantastic 4 windows with views from all windows of the estuary. Even had parking. Would highly recommend.

The Seagate was on the estuary in lovely Appledore. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We stayed here before and after a trip to Lundy. The first night was in room7 which was spacious and you could just about see the sea. The second night in room 9 which had a completely frosted window and was small. The pub food was good. I particularly liked the ceasar salad . Would return.

Better than expected. Great accommodation but also a great pub. The food was excellent and cooked breakfasts set us up perfectly for the day. The staff could not have been more helpful and helped to make our weekend perfect.

Lovely stay with nice food, comfortable, clean accommodation, nice bar and great staff. Negatives encountered: WiFi kept failing in our top floor room so had to go downstairs to get a signal. Car park was small but we were lucky to get a space. No spare loo roll in room - presumably an oversight but I had to throw some clothes on in the morning to go downstairs to get more!

Great place, BUT the Rooms need remodelling. Our room had massive amount of water stains and a hole (gòod size) in one of the walls.

Spacious clean modern room (room 19) overlooking the estuary. Short walk to pub for breakfast/food. Beautifully appointed with amenities, hairdryer, heaters, coolers, tea coffee biscuits etc. Easy access to great walks, shops at Bideford etc

We had a family room which was very luxurious for two people. Comfortable, spacious and with 3 windows overlooking the quayside. Everything clean, with well thought out design in bathroom etc. Highly recommended.

Such a lovely cosy stay. Staff all very friendly and happy to help with anything. The room was immaculate. Lovely local touches to the room. We did have a family room for a couple well worth it, And lovely view over the water.

The downstairs of the pub was lovely and had a great range of food and had a lovely feel, had really high hopes for our stay. Some of the staff were great and very welcoming, but did have to wait a while to be checked in and out as some of the staff were busy messing around behind the bar rather than serving us and other customers. Room provided was not like any that were displayed on the listing photos which was really disappointing. It’s was a lot lower on the scale of modern or done up but there were still some nice features about the place. The room was covered in ‘fixes’ that were done poorly and not fried properly, and there was a lot of damp in the room, showing drip marks and wet patches on the walls and giving off a slightly musky smell. There was mold in the bathroom too and the plumbing for toilet and bath was quite poor as didn’t drain, which was a shame as apart from the above it looked really lovely. The bathroom was well stocked with good toiletries which was appreciated. Quite chilly in the evening as the windows didn’t close properly and the electric heater in the room was broken. The bed was not too bad, it was presented nicely but was rather uncomfortable and there were hairs in the bed when we first checked in. There were hairs in the bedding when we first checked in too. Some nice aspects of the place but was a shame there were so many smaller things that made it not the best stay.

We checked in at The Seagate for a twin bed room which we believed we were booking and paid for. The staff member who checked us in, then told us that the room is a short walk away. She took us to the room and left us. Outside the building it was written the Quay Hotel, Appledore. I cannot tell you if The Seagate and The Quay hotel is the same thing but we were not awarded. The room and bathroom were not very clean. The toilet roll has not been changed, in fact the toilet paper ran out in the evening and we had to use our own tissues. The shower screen has not been wiped and rude words appeared when the screen steamed up. The sheets appeared clean but I found two small insects running around. The room was very warm and there was no fan, we could not open the window as it faces the pavement and people could see directly in, we had to leave the shutters close for privacy and safety for the night. It was very noisy till very late in the night. To sum up, we were very pleased that we were leaving first thing the next morning. We did not have much interaction with the staff apart from a brief check in and check out, so we could not comment. We had breakfast before leaving and the breakfast was fine.

A lovely place to stay, staff very helpful and happy Room was lovely and clean

Stayed in room 14 the Quays, which was designed for disabled persons (we weren't) , which we question as not much space if wheelchair used. The sink was small and low down which was not very good for hubby at 6 foot+. The room was kept clean and serviced daily. The only real down side wasinternet access which was intermittant at best and only at certain times of day, you could not use 2 devices at same time. Overall stay was great and gave us a nice break.

Overall the room was clean and tidy,Bathroom needed the grout seeing to,other than that everything was fine.

Excellent value for money and great location. Staff very friendly and pub downstairs is nice. Room is well equipped with a lovely bathroom and shower, and nice big bath towels. Room comfortable. A little warm as windows don't open.

Lovely hotel and always stay there when down. Service is exemplary and rooms in very good condition. Unfortunately certain rooms face the side street with bright lights and neon shop signs and the room blinds do not block this out. Also a very windy night sees the windows rattle all night.

Parking was safe and easy. No central a/c or heating in room, just a small fan.

Lovely few days away, Hotel staff were very good, food was great, good selection of drinks. Only disappointment was the room got exceptionally hot and stuffy, even with a fan.

Staff, very friendly and great service. The rooms are beautiful, with great facilities. However, the beds are the hardest I have ever slept on, which resulted in broken and painful sleep. I did not rise refreshed. Breakfast was really good but sausage was very tangy (maybe male pig) so I was unable to eat.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble if they could help you in anyway they did. We have stayed there a few times and its just got better would not hesitate in highly recommending The Seagate..

A lovely quiet hotel overlooking the sea front. The staff were friendly, going out of their way to help. There was a good variety of food, especially for breakfast. Only downside for me were the stairs, but the exercise did me good ! Would like to return in the future, thank you to all the staff.

Fabulous welcome from the manager, he went above and beyond to give us the best experience. We had a very nice roon with a beautiful view of the estuary. We enjoyed a very nice evening meal in the restaurant and drinks from the well stocked bar. All staff were super friendly and happy to help. I totally recommend the Seagate!

We had a brilliant stay here we were made to feel very welcome and felt relaxed and chilled. The location is wonderful by day and by night. The atmosphere is friendly.

Feel additional charges for cooked breakfast and coffee somewhat steep at 17 pounds Also dog charge at 15 per night . Good service and food

A very nice stay in Appledore, one night of a longer trip. The staff is exceptionally professional, and nice. My room was clean and comfortable, and dinner in the Pub delicious!
