Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Airport

Convenient for an overnight stay for early morning flights.

This is the second time I stayed at this location and will definitely be the last. First walk in it doesn’t look that bad but when you get to the room. It was dirty and not maintained at all. Plumbing was leaking in the bathroom where it was leaving puddles of water on the floor. When my wife call downstairs to notify them of the situation and asked for a room change , they said they were none available. Then I went downstairs to complain. There was another person complaining about the exact same issues. They gave him some extra towels to put on the floor and told him they were booked up and cannot change his room. After I spoke with a manager, they ended up giving me another room, but asked me to clean up the water and to leave the room exactly the way it was when I first checked in. (i’m assuming to give it to the next person that checked in) Also, I found it very strange that they have a sign at the front desk . Saying no smoking cigarettes or marijuana. But they have a smoking area right outside the side door. That night I went outside to smoke.(marijuana.) About a half a dozen other people were smoking cigarettes. I was confronted by one of the staff. While I was outside in the smoking area. That she didn’t want me smoking marijuana because she can’t stand the smell. I don’t like cigarettes nor do I want to get cancer from smoking or secondhand smoke from cigarettes. Amsterdam is known from marijuana usage. I felt like I was being targeted.

Bad breakfast, nothing left when we came, and nobody filled more. Tables not cleaned, and dirty cups. Airport transfer didnt arrive when it was supposed to because driver had lunch, so we was 30 min later on the airport then planned.

Room was nice but lighting was very poor, couldn’t read a book without a flashlight. The shuttle service they advertised was very confusing, we ended up taking a taxi after waiting for one hour. Apparently the bus broke down and the sent a little van without proper identification for what hotel. Very disappointing.The morning shuttle had a very grumpy driver.

Very helpful staff at check in that helped me with parking when I could not find a spot
