The hotel was amazing!! After a week of hard hiking, I had a quiet morning, so I took my coffee and went to the clubhouse, started a fire, in the electric fireplace, shot pool, and watched the sun rise through the giant glass doors. It was perfect!!

This place is in a great location and has a lot more to offer than your typical road-trip motel. The retro motif is a lot of fun and each room has a different theme (ours was Return of the Jedi). Theming aside, the rooms were spacious, clean, and equipped with refrigerator & microwave. There is also a fun common area with various activities (billiards, ping pong, PlayStation, etc). The breakfast had some unique microwave items (pancake-wrapped sausage on a stick) but got the job done. Front desk staff was great- friendly & helpful. Would love to stay here again.

Everything was clean and well maintained. Great amenities including game room and laundry. The outside area was inviting and we sat out and spent the evening enjoying the company of several other guests.

We loved staying at this cute, quirky and fun inn. Beds were really good and the front desk clerk was very friendly. As far as the grounds around the inn, they need some TLC. If we ever return to Cortez, we would stay again.

This is a very economical yet cozy inn. Diamond in a rough, i would call it. High value. It can use some improvement but, it has was consistently clean, quite and had a good breakfast selection l. My goto when traveling towards Texas from the northwest. Biggest complaint is that certain rooms has suboptimal parking spots. Not good if you have a large maintenance truck. However, if you talk with the receptionist they can advise to park in a better spot for larger vehicles.

The retro deco is a nice change from the chain hotels. Our bed was comfortable. The game room was a bonus. Having a washer and dryer on site was very convenient. The staff is very friendly.

This place is sooo cute! Room numbers range from 1950 to 1986 and each room has that year’s theme and decor. There are laundry facilities and a clubhouse with a pool table and foosball machine. Not to mention, the outdoor ground chess and ping pong table. Loved my stay!

This inn is great. It has a playground, game room, laundry facilities, the people are friendly and it's ten miles from Mesa Verde NP. The restaurant across the street and perhaps the town of Cortez closes at 9p. We enjoyed our stay. One downside is that you could hear others' showers running. Other than that, I would stay again.

Retro Inn promoted it's vintage vibe, and did not disappoint. What we weren't expecting was the size of the unit we were assigned -- more of a condo than a motel room, including a full kitchen, with access to a great back yard patio, BBQ area, and fire pit surrounded by porch swings. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Cute concept but needs updating and better cleaning. Our shower walls were dirty with red soap scum and mold. The hot water handle was loose. There were multiple broken floor tiles in the room. Breakfast was nothing special not sure what others thought was great. It was some pastries, toast items, cereal and frozen items like waffles, burritos and sausage pancake sticks. We tried to eat but the lack of protein options caused us to stop shortly down the road trip for food. It was a great price but I just wish it was a little better condition. We are split on whether we’d return as the beds were comfy

Room was good. Linens clean. Bathroom clean. Deep cleaning needs help. Was not happy with w staff smoking right outside front door as we entered to eat breakfast. Not so sure about overall safety of key to enter room.rooms back off road isolated.

The property had a 60s feel to it. The break room had Old diner style chairs and tables. Elvis was sitting on a bench for a photo op next to an old style camper. The rooms had pastel colored doors with metal chairs and tables to match. The room was very large and was exceptionally clean.

Great retro feel; great front desk staff and breakfast decent; but…bed sheets didn’t fit; walls paper thin so heard the neighbouring room guests until 12:15 am; shower head excellent but no counter in bathroom. Air conditioner made noise of dripping water all night. I would not stay again.

The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The A/C worked but it worked hard and was very noisy and the temps outside were not extremely warm. The area felt safe but there is only a door knob lock and the door knob to our room moved around quite a bit. You cannot use the deadbolt unless you are inside the room. It was fine for one night and close to Mesa Verde..

The place definitely jad a retro feel! Room was spacious and clean. Amenities were satisfactory - I got what I paid for. Only issue was noise...neighbors sitting out front (this is a motel) yapping away. Sounded like a group of bikers came through as well. Staff were super friendly. Breakfast was decent- again, i got what I paid for.

My girlfriend and I stopped in here for the last night of a long road trip. We got in late and wanted to hit Mesa Verde in the morning so we were planning a quick in and out night. Front the second we started chatting with the concierge we could tell that the people here genuinely took pride in their work and their motel. Atmosphere is fun with lots of little secrets to find. Our room was clean, comfortable, and conveniently right next to our car. The shower was somewhat divisive (I love that a monsoon rained down on you though) Other than that the only piece to mention is that this is certainly an older building. Beds were a king so those were fine but the bathroom was a little tight. I’m 6’3 and (admittedly) clumsy so I knocked into the bathroom quite a bit. Really no big deal but worth considering if anyone in your group is a larger. Breakfast is a classic continental but somehow more memorable than your usual best western. Can’t get a corn dog at a Holliday inn express.

Was given the noisiest room on the property, right next to the street. Was told on the phone by "Vera" that there was no pet fee. When I go there they charged me a $21.87 pet fee.

Fantastic place to stay. We got a king bed room and it was very spacious. The host was super nice at check-in and also when we couldn’t get the tv on. She came immediately and fixed the problem for us. We have stayed at The Retro 3 times and will continue to choose it when we are in the area.

The front staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was not. I found half-eaten food inside at the table, I had to ask for paper goods and towels from front office. Door locks were loose and I felt insecure leaving anything in the room.

The property was quiet and has a lot of restaurants in walkable distance. The rooms were spacious and everything was clean and good. They had a good retro theme throughout the property. We paid only 70 dollars for a double queen room. It was a extreme value for money deal as they had included breakfast too.

Fun theme hotel. Clean and comfortable rooms. Comfy bed. The room number corresponds to the year it will be decorated. We had the Star Wars room with a glow-in-the-dark Star Wars mural. The breakfast is basic continental, but they keep a supply of cold bottled water available all day. Nice/fun game room.

What a cute and friendly place! They told us that they served a continental breakfast, but the had delicious hot burritos for breakfast among the usual options. What a treat! Would have enjoyed staying longer.

Good selection of breakfast no eggs except for hard boiled but still better than Hilton With the horrible eggs lol This is an old motor inn that means built for auto traffic before the big highways It is immaculate clean ! Comfy Plenty of hot water Great heat and I guess air in warm months If you pass it up for one of the big names you lose out

The room was simple but spotlessly clean! I was in a Marilyn Monroe room that sparkled. Breakfast was plentiful but, as usual in hotels, sparse on items for a celiac (gluten-free). Even so, I got my fill on yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal and was on my way to more adventures. I'll be back!
