Was a good location for our time on the West Peninsula. We were in the new section and so the room/bathroom was quite nice. Nice to have access to lounge with tea and coffee and breakfast was decent.

Very efficiently run place. Close to the Ytri beach and local bath. Clean room. Tea and coffee was available 24 hours in the main dining area but just to have tea in your room early morning without having to dress decently would have been nice. The buffet dinner was very good, lots of variety of good. Get a taste of all Icelandic food. Worth the money.

We had a fabulous view of the mountain, Snaefellsjokull, from our room. Our room was in the new addition to the hotel, but there were older sections that I cannot comment on, but our room was clean and roomy. This hotel is known by Icelanders, too, as it has an all you can eat buffet supper that serves seasonal and traditional Icelandic foods, as well as other dishes. It was about $57 per person. The best part for me was the fact there is very little light pollution and wide open spaces. The night we were there, we went out on the balcony and saw the northern lights. There is a 9 hole golf course on the property and clubs for rent.

The hotel is set in possibly the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen. Mountains, ponds, fields, and the ocean, with the glacial mountain in the distance. The hotel was very comfortable and clean with simple rooms. Besides the gorgeous views, what was so special about the hotel was the delicious breakfast and the dinner buffet add-on. The food was delicious and plentiful with interesting variety. The cuisine was rustic and authentic with many Icelandic dishes and fresh seafood and lamb (as well as veg options). What made all this possible was the wonderful, friendly and hard-working staff especially the manager who was so thoughtful and considerate. We saw him doing everything from check-in to waiting tables to washing dishes- he was constantly moving but always good natured. Speaking of nature, there is a path to the ocean by the hotel and it was lovely to walk on the beach. A wonderful place!

Empfehlenswert sind die Zimmer im neuen Anbau. Es hat mindestens 12 Steckdosen im Zimmer, man fragt sich wofür? Denn es hat kein TV oder Kühlschrank im Zimmer. Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Frühstücksauswahl ist reichhaltig, ebenso ist das Abendessen (Buffet) zu empfehlen. Besonders die Auswahl an Fischgerichten ist lobenswert. Die Alternative an Restaurants entfällt praktisch, da kilometerweit nichts in der Umgebung ist. Es gibt den ganzen Tag Kaffee und heißes Wasser in der Gaststube. Ein guter Standort zur Beobachtung von Nordlichtern!

Comfortable and affordable option. Breakfast was amazing. We stayed in the older portion of the building so it felt like an older motel. Nothing fancy. The cleaning staff are amazing. Not a spec of fluff on the white bed sheets. The beds are comfy as well.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent especially the fresh baked breads. There was coffee and hot chocolate station available all day at no cost. Rooms were very clean with a great view. Needs to be updated. Our room was next to the common room which was very loud late into the night. Wifi was very weak and there was not a tv in the room. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Hotel befindet sich in einer schönen Umgebung. Unser Zimmer war schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen aber sauber. Beim Frühstück fehlte es an nichts. Lustig fanden wir dass es keinen Kaffeebecher und kein Teller doppelt gab. Kaffee und Tee konnte man rund um die Uhr im Speisesaal holen.

Ask for the “new” rooms in the addition. They have new bathrooms and balconies with views of the ocean and waterfalls. Great location on the peninsula for day trips. Helpful staff.

Before I get into the review, I want to note that I’ve seen how the property has responded to other guests’ concerns, often blaming guests for selecting rooms on the older, unrenovated side. I want to be clear that when I booked, there was no indication on the website that I would be placed in such a basic room—and it truly stopped my family and me in our tracks when we opened the door. It was extremely underwhelming. Pros: 1) Beautiful grounds overlooking the water and a golf course, 2) Great for birdwatchers—arctic terns everywhere!, and 3) Easy check-in and friendly front desk staff. Cons: 1) Room was extremely barebones—just beds and sheets, with no additional comforts 2) Only shampoo provided in the bathroom, and the bathroom floor became dangerously slippery after a shower, 3) No TV in the room, and the TV in the shared lounge had no sound (appeared to be set to an ambient visual display only), and 4) Dinner was too expensive for us to consider, and while breakfast had some homemade touches (like jellies and fish), we didn’t find much that was appetizing Final thoughts: Yes, we know Iceland is expensive—we budgeted for that. But this property felt overpriced for what we got. If all you need is a bed and you plan to spend all your time outside, this place may work for you. But I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or family who are looking for any comfort, beauty, or value in the room itself.

There is an older section and newer section. The older section is "basic" as advertised. I stayed in the older "basic" section (my mistake) and would not recommend it. It is run down, the bathroom has no separation between sink and shower, furniture was damaged, heat did not work, old crinkled print as art work, make-shift desk, minimal space, no black-out shades, etc. I should note, the newer section of the hotel does look very nice.

This is a beautiful property in the sense it is comfortingly decorated and the hospitality of the staff is lovely. You can walk to the ocean. The breakfast was lovely. The dinner buffet specializes in fresh and local fish, which we didn't realize when we booked, and which is not a favourite of our group. The rooms are renovated but small. As a group of 3 adults we were quite cramped in our unit.

J'ai pris le repas du dîner à l'hôtel. J'ai mangé des moules, mais elle n'étaient pas bonne du tout (et je me suis faite mal à une dent en croquant dans quelque chose de dur). J'étais située dans la vieille partie (là où sont la majorité des chambres). La grandeur de la chambre est correcte, mais la salle de bain est minuscule (et la douche encore plus). Les portes de la douche ne ferment pas jusqu'en bas, ce qui fait que j'ai pratiquement inondé tout le plancher même en faisant attention. Étant situé dans le corridor qui mène au restaurant, ce fut bruyant. Ma chambre donnait sur le stationnement extérieur et tous ceux entrant dans l'hôtel passaient vraiment tout près de ma fenêtre. Je ne recommande pas pour un séjour tranquille.

The room was very clean. The bathroom was tiny and had a plastic shower curtain which allowed water to wet almost the whole bathroom. The location was very good for exploring the Snaeffelsness peninsula. Breakfast and dinner were fine.

Staff great, amazing buffet. Weather was horrible, all of them helped get me out of car, wind so strong i was trapped. They also took great care of unexpected bus tour, the tour group challenging but they were professional whole time. Amazing for such young people, worked well as team.

This is a great place to stay if you are looking to be away from city lights so you can try to see the Northern Lights. We were fortunate they were visible on our night here and it was a highlight of our trip. The staff is friendly, but they are not available at all times. This property is 4mins to ytri tunga very cute aesthetically and has free parking which if you're in Iceland is very important.. my stay got upgraded so I got a nicer room that had its own balcony with a view of the ocean... they have breakfast included.. you can pay for dinner separately which is a buffet style I wasn't going to be around during their dinner times so I declined but when I came back to the hotel there was still food out and it looked really good kind of wishing I got to have some LOL

Staff were extremely helpful on all aspects of our 2-night stay. We had a rental car issue which they even helped us with. The evening buffet was excellent with tremendous variety with several different (for me) foods that I really enjoyed. And seeing the Northern Lights from our balcony made the visit even more special.

They upgraded us for free and changed our room so it had a double. Free coffee and tea was great and the staff was very friendly. Great place to stay after flying into Reykjavik early in the morning and driving around all day!

Was a good location for our time on the West Peninsula. We were in the new section and so the room/bathroom was quite nice. Nice to have access to lounge with tea and coffee and breakfast was decent.

Ubicación fantastica para descubrir la península y el entorno del hotel precioso. Cenamos el pescado del dia y estaba buenisimo, la cocina excelente. Hubiera sido perfecto si el tiempo nos hubiera acompañado, pero pillamos un dia con mucho viento y aun asi pudimos ver las Auroras boreales desde la habitacion.

Buffet dinner was very delicious Icelandic fare: lamb meatballs, curried halibut, trout poke Asian style, pickled red cabbage, home made rye bread, pickled beet root and fish soup. Ask for the “new” rooms in the addition. They have new bathrooms and balconies with views of the ocean and waterfalls. Great location on the peninsula for day trips. Helpful staff.

We decided to splash out a bit and have their buffet dinner on our second to last night in Iceland. It was outstanding!! Full of freshly caught fish, seafood and lamb dishes. We were surprised at the wide variety of items they presented and very impressed with the amazing flavours of all of the dishes we tried. Dinner with a view of a volcano, the ocean and a glacier cannot be beat. This is not to be missed! Staff at this hotel were lovely and really cared about our experience there. They should all be commended for their part in our great stay.

Very efficiently run place. Close to the Ytri beach and local bath. Clean room. Tea and coffee was available 24 hours in the main dining area but just to have tea in your room early morning without having to dress decently would have been nice. The buffet dinner was very good, lots of variety of good. Get a taste of all Icelandic food. Worth the money.

Hotel was fine, but dinner buffet was definitely overpriced considering there is nothing else around, and it wasn't great. After a day of driving through mountains, you don't want to go out again to eat. But the area around was beautiful and we walked a bit to the beach and back. Breakfast buffet was ok and it was free.

Sweet hotel in the middle of nowhere as are all the hotels on this peninsula. Very kind and helpful staff. Hotel is located perfectly for 2 days seeing all the sites on the peninsula. Very close to seal beach. Rooms are small but that was expected. Very clean. Restaurant food was delicious. Loved the dinner and breakfasts! Right on the golf course!
