For the cost this lodge is excellent. It offers the most amazing location that can be had, access to the trails, a very good dinner for a reasonable price. Beautiful grounds and large picture windows all around.

The hostel is in a wonderful position and it's a grand old building. We really enjoyed staying here. We had a private room and it was very large. The shared toilets and showers were all very clean. Our only disappointment was the food. We chose to have dinner when we arrived. You pre order and then go to the dining room at a pre arranged time. Well the fish and chips were just pulled out of a warming draw and had obviously been there for ages. Even though we were five minutes early for our alloted time. The fish was practically solid and the chips were nearer in colour to black than golden. So very poor. After walking 16 miles of the West Highland Way we were in no mood to argue. The curry was acceptable but no more. If you choose to stay here cook your own food is our advice. It's a pity because everything else was so nice. The breakfast is very basic but ok, and is very reasonable. No cooking involved so too difficult for anyone to mess up !

Gorgeous setting, helpful staff, excellent food. Only complaint is that we had to sit outside in the rain waiting to check in. Webpage says the lounge is available to guests who arrive before 4:00 pm check in time.
