Muir, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Halifax

Many amenities in the wellness center were not in functioning order.

This hotel is located in a premier location. The amenities are first rate. The gym, infra red sauna, salt room, eucalyptus sauna, vitality pool, are truly amazing. The dining at Drift is a culinary dream. Featuring delicious oysters, seafood chowder, and fish and chips. The showers and beds are very comfortable. The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming.

The Muir is in a great location. This updated, modern hotel is right on the harbor and is surrounded by dining and entertainment options. But what really tips the scale is the level of service. We were treated like royalty. I wish we could have spent more time there. We did get a chance to have an after-dinner drink at BKS, which was fun. We had an ADA room with an amazing bathroom. The view was partially blocked, but was accurately portrayed on the booking website. Biggest downsides were that parking is kind of wonky and somewhat difficult to find up front, and it's pricey. But we're not the type who would spend $150 for a bottle of rum in an in-room bar. (Although we sprang for $20+ drinks at BKS.) If you're in the mood to splurge and be pampered we would highly recommend.

This is an excellent property! The staff offer the finest hospitality. The dining is truly superb. The Wellness Centre is tops! You have a cold plunge, vitality pool, infared sauna, eucalyptus sauna and a salt room. The gym offers an array of fitness options. The art gallery is amazing.

Muir is a great spot. Sauna was not working & IMO had short hours (close early, open late) We made a point to go and sauna and steam room were both not working.

Beautiful views but not worth the price of the rooms. Shortage of parking at times, for example after coming back from eating out, there was no parking available at hotel. Also don’t ask for the free shuttle if it’s one foot over the 2 km limit! We asked to be shuttled to a concert that was 2.4 kms away and the manager gave a hard no immediately and wasn’t that nice about it. We won’t be back.

This was my wife and my third time staying at the Muir, and it continues to be one of our favorite places to stay in Halifax. The rooms, as always, are top notch. They are elegant, beautifully appointed, and thoughtfully designed. The finishes, textures, and overall atmosphere strike that perfect balance between modern luxury and warm maritime character. Every stay has felt refined and intentional. This was the first time, however, that our experience was not entirely seamless. The pool and sauna area was extremely overcrowded during our visit. Towels were left strewn across chairs and along the pool deck, and it did not seem like the space was being maintained at the standard we have come to expect from the Muir. The atmosphere felt more chaotic than relaxing. There were also a few groups who were quite loud and disruptive, which changed the tone of what is normally a calm and elevated experience. It felt out of step with the usual ambiance of the hotel. That said, we still genuinely appreciate the property, the quality of the rooms, and the overall experience it typically delivers. This visit felt more like an exception than the norm, and we would certainly consider staying again, hoping to return to the polished and tranquil standard we have experienced in the past.

Can’t beat this hotel! Love staying here. We were greeted as loyal guests and received a hand written note and chocolates to thank us for return visits. We love the spa like pool floor. We were slightly disappointed on this visit because there were several kids screaming and splashing in the pool. It would be great to have a sign indicating that it is a quiet zone to preserve the spa-like atmosphere.

We had a great stay at Muir. The rooms were stunning, clean, with thoughtful touches. The staff delivered both a piece of cake and card for a birthday we were celebrating, and a cocktail for National Vodka day. The location was awesome, and we loved all the amenities. BKS had delicious cocktails, views, great atmoshphere and service. The gym appeared to be stocked with a wide variety of good quality equipment. We enjoyed our time unwinding in the wellness spa. The only downsides were that we weren't told we had to book a reservation to use the salt room in the wellness area (so we weren't able to get in), and that we had to wait over 20 minutes to have our vehicle retrieved. All in all, it was a fabulous stay though.

The minute we arrived the service was 5 star. Check in was very simple and quick. We received a welcome package in our room, and the room itself was spotless. The king sized bed, sheets and pillows were high-end which made for easy enjoyable sleeps. Heated washroom floors, self closing/opening curtains, and plenty of towels. The in room bar was a great addition with high qaulity spirit options and beer options. The gym was very modern and spacious with high end fitness equipment. The pool/sauna area was smaller but very clean and enjoyable. We ate at Drift located inside the hotel which i highly recommended as well. A true 5 star hotel, would definitely stay here again.

Had a problem with them calling me sir for the first part of the stay. They eventually apologized and made up with a bit of a credit on my bill. Otherwise.. attendants and bell boys were very friendly and helpful. Liked the hotel overall but not really well designed for women. Not enough mirrors and lighting is just average. Room was very clean and in good shape.

Very clean and luxe rooms

What a lovely experience! The staff was SO kind and accommodating. The wellness centre is relaxing and clean. I will definitely be coming back.

This is a lovely boutique style hotel. Room was clean and well appointed. Property is only 5 floors, therefore the ‘view’ was somewhat lacking. The gym was spacious and well equipped. Nice on-site restaurant and others nearby were also good. Hotel staff should enforce the relaxation hours at the pool and spa, seems to be no difference between family hours and quiet time.

The hotel is beautiful. The room was smaller then expected based on the photos. There was only one seat to relax in besides the bed, no couch as pictured, which changed our plans to use and enjoy the room longer.

The bench seating in the room was not very comfortable. It would be nice to have comfy stuffed love seat with recline or foot rests. The table in front was awkward and not conducive to relaxing to watch tv. Pillows were not comfortable.

TV was not mounted conveniently, you need to turn your head 90 degrees to view it from the bed. On checkout day the car valets were more app focused with no assistance, instead of a personal touch. Given that it is a 5 star establishment, one would think a more personal experience would be the culture. No SPA services within the hotel, the partner facilities were not accommodating.

This was by far "THE BEST" hotel I've stayed at. From the valet young men, to the doorr staff, to the front desk, and lets not forget the restaurant and housekeeping. They greet you by your name and make you feel at home. The food was 10/10 especially the chocolate chip cookies. I'll definitely be staying here again.

Service was exceptional

When we arrived, no one asked if we wanted help with our luggage or even opened the doors as we struggled with it. 3 68 year old ladies with 3 suitcases and 3 bags each. Got to the front desk and our room was not ready. Sent us to the lounge to wait and treated us to a drink. No problem. Room was ready in half an hour. The room looked great. The bar was very impressive but we did not partake. Went out for the evening and while trying to get ready for bed, discovered only 1 facecloth, 2 hand towels and 2 bath towels. There are 3 of us. Also the housekeeper had come in and did turndown service for 2. The hotel knew there were 3 of us, why couldn’t they prepare for that. We shouldn’t have to call housekeeping for things that should have already been supplied. It was late and we made due with what we had. Breakfast was a fiasco. Sat down, got water. Had asked for coffee but it did not appear. When waitress took our order, we ordered 2 coffee and 1chai tea. One person got coffee. Waited about 5 minutes then went and got a coffee for myself. Chai tea never came even though we asked again. Food came , my order was wrong and my companion decided to just order regular tea. It arrived shortly. Everyone liked their meals. Paying the bills took a bit of time as they had to be sent back to be altered to agree with what we had ordered. Machines weren’t working properly so more waiting. I realize the waitress was new and trying her best. I have to give her a break on that. She was

The hotel was amazing but I did back and forth with member of concierge as we were arriving on day of my partners birthday. I asked if they could do something special in room for him which they agreed and nothing was done for him. I even said I’d pay for it. That was very disappointing but rest of stay was nice.

Service was exception, above and beyond even for a 5 star hotel. Rooms are refined and thoughtfully put together. Hotel offers numerous amenities.

The closest thing to a Four Seasons experience. Hats off to all the staff, especially the gents at the valet parking. The little things matter and the fact that you greeted us every time by our name is at the heart of your extraordinary service. Beautiful property, fantastic amenities are nothing without top shelf people. Very well done!

The staff were outstanding. We had a baby and a three year old and all staff were above and beyond welcoming, kind and helpful. Way to go team Muir!

The Muir is in a perfect location within the city as it was right on the boardwalk. There were so many shops, restaurants and things to do right from the hotel. The staff paid attention to every detail and were incredibly polite.

Excellent modern new hotel right in the heart of the action in Halifax Harbour. Fantastic room with great views of the Harbour and great amenities. Would definitely stay here again.

We would recommend the Muir to anyone wanting to stay down by the harbour, the staff was so friendly and quick to help if anything was needed, you are walking distance to anything by the water.

It’s pricey, but in my opinion, it’s one of the best, if not the best, hotel in Halifax. Right on the waterfront boardwalk, numerous dining options within easy walking distance.

Everything about this hotel was outstanding From valet service, door man, front desk staff. And the house car driver All amazing Wasn’t able to use the amenities as it was just over night stay but am definitely going back for a weekend stay! Just returned from the Muir Hotel and WOW! This brand new waterfront property has the best location in Halifax with stunning harbor views. The Queen's Marque area feels incredibly safe and walkable with dozens of restaurants nearby, plus their own excellent Drift restaurant. Facilities are pristine and modern - everything is brand new. Staff was exceptional and you're walking distance to everything while still being peaceful and scenic. Will definitely be back! Traveled as a couple in August 2025

Highly recommend the Muir. The entire staff were wonderful and made my trip extremely memorable. Dining at Drift was definitely a highlight. The food was amazing.

Avoid Drift restaurant We don't mind the price but the portions are ridiculously small. So many other restaurants

Staff were welcoming and kind. Location is so good. Rooms exuded that east coast style. Restaurants and the speakeasy were delicious/fun. Can’t wait to return.

This hotel is beautiful and the staff is top notch. The restaurant food quality and service was fantastic as well. Professional and friendly, never pretentious. We will definitely be returning for another visit!

The hotel and surrounding area is beautiful. The rooms are lovely and modern. The restaurant drift left us very underwhelmed, and the restaurant staff were not nearly attentive enough for the price point and style.
