Gray Manor Hotel

We arrived late and stayed for one night after a wedding nearby. Was so glad for the spacious car park because I was absolutely shattered and it was so dark. We stayed in a twin room with double and single bed. The single wasn't quite as plush as the double and my daughter was so disappointed she wasn't allowed to sleep in the big bed! The single was a bit hard but not too bad. I was grateful for the extra pillow in the wardrobe as they were a bit flat for me. The shower head holder was loose so it had to be hand held. The bathroom was a bit weathered though clean. The toilet took an age to refill so when all of us needed the loo, it took ages to be able to flush. Room was clean and tidy and we appreciated the kettle and hot drinks though we didn't need them this time. There was a decent English breakfast selection, with cereals, hot drinks and fruit juices for breakfast. We arrived around 9am and had to wait for several things to be refilled. Coffee was good so that was appreciated. If I was to be picky I would've liked pastries or pancakes 😁 My daughter fell in love with the two beautiful dogs who live there and she didn't want to leave. There was a playground on site, which we sadly didn't have time to explore. Overall we had a really lovely albeit short stay and would definitely come back if we were ever in the area again.

While the staff were welcoming and a good breakfast was provided, the overall ambience of the place is seriously lacking and the hotel is in need of a makeover. We arrived in the evening and almost missed the turning as the signage wasn't lit, neither was the car park. We were hoping for a drink in a cosy bar but found the whole of the dining areas and bar completely empty of people, with no curtains on windows. The whole place seemed furnished as a wedding venue and what we thought sounded like a warm and cosy hotel just didn't deliver.

Another gem of a hotel for my 1 night business stay. The staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you. The room I had was very large with a large bathroom that had a lovely power shower. There was tea/coffee making facilities. There was a very nice freshly cooked breakfast and the evening meal was very tasty and fresh cooked to order. There was plenty of on site car parking and it was just 1/4 mile from the main A303 although you couldn’t hear any traffic noise in the room at all

We stayed 2 nights. The staff there were so welcoming, friendly and happy to help. The breakfast was amazing with plenty of options from cooked breakfast to yoghurt, fruit and cereals. We had an evening meal too which was really good. The bed was comfortable and the jacuzzi bath was great. Our son loved the playarea too and the dogs were lovely and friendly. Only negative we had was that the room wasn't as clean as expected but other than that we enjoyed our stay!

We had a spacious double room in a quiet part of the hotel. The facilities were all fine and clean. The bed was comfortable and there was a stand fan for the room which was very welcome in the heatwave we have been having. Also the windows opened properly and even though you can hear the road, it was not terribly disturbing so we slept well. We had our dinner there also and sat outside ( again you can hear the road all the time). The grounds are lovely and there is a good kids playground. We saw birds of prey, and rabbits hopping about in the evening. There is a simple menu but it’s ample choice for a quick stopover kind of trip. The ribs were amazing! Staff were really friendly and very efficient.

Could not fault the staff they where friendly and happy to help in anyway they could they even arranged to open breakfast up early on our first day because of our plans for the day plenty of breakfast just needed to request extra if wanted We usually stay at the premier inn when we visit family in the area but we thought pound for pound it was just as good as value and the extra benefits the hotel as a garden you can sit in comfort for a drink and it meant the family and grandsons could come if they wanted to with them having a play area Will be looking here before the premier inn first on our next stay

I thought it was a good value. Had a big, open car park. Bar and dining room downstairs which is quite convenient.

Great staff, food great. They do have 2 dogs that roam but they are lovely and do not pester guests, they are however very approachable

The Gray Manor Hotels has a substantial business providing for weddings and wedding receptions, and this is reflected in their decor schemes and layout. Good location close to the A303 and convenient for Salisbury.

The hotels rating is a load of rubbish, the hotel needs an overhall, its dated, even though they are trying to keep on top of it with cheap, tacky furnishings, sadly its not making alot of difference. At breakfast, the tables that they are using look like they would collapse if any weight was put on them. The grounds were beautifu, despite being situated by a busy road.

Check in went smoothly. Clean Room. Comfortable bed. Breakfast very good.

Friendly staff and great breakfast. Nice and quiet and relaxing location with surprisingly little noise from the nearby A303. However, rooms are a little dirty around the edges and under the bed was very dusty along the wall - found because I was looking for a power point.

Staff were great and very friendly, breakfast was really good and had a good variety and the property was nice. There are 2 big beautiful friendly dogs that rome the hotel, which was a pleasant surprise. My only complaint is, the carpets in the bedrooms are very dirty with unpleasant stains all over them. The hotel should consider taking the carpets out and just have hard floors instead. Otherwise a really pleasant stay.

The stay was ok for 1 night, but wouldn’t want to stay for a week. Dog hairs in the foyer. Slow to restock the breakfast buffet. The place needs a refurb. Dated and tired. Leak in foyer, but unable to find the source (been an issue for a while) Disabled parking used by non-disabled drivers and workmen.

Liked the surrounding area, property itself was outdated, room was very dusty and a bit dirty, especially the floors. Beds were not comfortable. Staff very friendly breakfast was well stocked.

Room was neglected. There were two massive husky’s waiting for you at reception so if you’re not a dog person not great. The lights didn’t work in the room. Only one of out 4 did. No bedside lights or plug sockets. Room needed a good clean and was so hot we slept with a fan on the entire night in October. Shower was tiny.

We booked Gray Manor Hotel for a short stay in Salisbury and were absolutely shocked by the state of the room. Cleanliness was completely unacceptable. 1. The carpets were heavily stained. 2. The coffee mugs still had residue from previous guests. 3. The walls were marked with smears and spattering that looked like dried blood. 4. The bathroom was in poor condition, with mould and general grime. We had also paid for breakfast for two mornings but skipped the second day — the first was enough. The tablecloths were stained, the salt pot was covered in greasy residue, and when pouring water into a glass, food particles floated in it. It was honestly revolting. The only positives? The staff were friendly and the setting was peaceful. But that does not make up for the severe lack of hygiene. I have never felt so uncomfortable staying in a hotel. We will not return, and I cannot recommend this property to anyone.

Would never stay there again. Needs a good clean. Dogs laying in way all the time. Staff to busy on there phone to welcome you or say goodbye on check out. Need lots of money to spent on it. Breakfast room has shower curtains to cut room off. Food was horrible and very cheap

I'm sure there are varying quality of rooms at Gray Manor but Rm 2 is unfortunately in dire need of restoration. The black rubber matting in the bathroom floor is something I've never come across before and the plastic sealant around the floor and bath areas looks like it was done in a hurry. In fairness it was a very hot night but the mattress and pillows weren't of the best quality and hindered a good nights sleep. I stay in 3/4 hotels a month with work so have stayed in a variety of establishments of varying quality over the years. Whilst we did experience the disappointment of Rm 2, breakfast was excellent (the lady serving the tables was very good) and reception couldn't do enough for you. Our friends in Rm 4 however said their room was fine!

Gray Manor Hotel is in a lovely setting. Our room was a bit tired, the bed was too soft for us (either by design or aged) and the bathroom desperately needed an update ... and the toilet paper dispenser moving from behind your right shoulder! The shower screen did little to retain the water in the bath area and the shower head did not sit in the mount. Honestly, not great. Positives - the staff are great, all very friendly. Breakfast was superb, plenty of choice, great products and well cooked.

The receptionists was informative and quick at checking in, the room was bright and spacious, bathroom average, but upon using said bathroom we found that the shower head wouldn't stop where you needed it, just flopped down spraying the taps,which was annoying, we had no milk upon arrival, luckily we had our own, the bed was pretty low down for us older people, the pillows where thin and soft,bathroom floor was uneven. The hotel itself is tired and needing modifications and maintenance as curtains were falling off and ceiling tiles were also in need of repair, we had to walk round the place to find somebody to serve us at the bar ....location for us was main reason for the booking, probably won't be back.

Hotel is quirky and quite tired in places. You can see effort has been put in, but really to a professional standard. Breakfast was a buffet English Breakfast which was good. Rooms were really quite hot and no Aircon and fan in bathroom did not work. Tea and coffee is supplied in the room. There are two large dogs roaming constantly, they are extremely docile but had we known before hand, we would not have booked for this reason. We were only told on arrival.

The exterior of the hotel looked quite tired, with broken planters and many dead plants, which didn’t make for a welcoming first impression. Around the premises, there were numerous hotel-related items such as bins and gas canisters left in plain sight, which added to a general feeling of disorganisation. Our room was functional but clearly in need of updating. The carpet had seen better days, and the bathroom floor felt uneven due to loose flooring beneath the lino. The bathroom itself had mismatched tiles and noticeable black mould in the grouting, which made it feel neglected. Breakfast was adequate, but not as described. While it was enough to start the day, there was no fruit, jams, marmalade, or Marmite as advertised, which was disappointing. On a more positive note, the hotel is very dog-friendly, and all the staff were welcoming and helpful, which we really appreciated. For the price we paid, the stay was just about acceptable, however, had the hotel matched its advertised standard, we would have been more than happy to pay a little extra. With a bit of care and attention to maintenance and presentation, this hotel could be a lovely place to stay.

Staff were very friendly. The room was very spacious and clean. Quiet area. Breakfast was varied and generous. I appreciated they had oat milk, as not many places offer these.

We weren’t given the key for the main door. When we got back at 11pm it was locked. We knocked and phoned for 40 minutes until we got it. We were told we should have been given a key for the door and then told us we didn’t try ringing the doorbell (we pressed it 10 times and phoned 10 times)

After a bit of a shambles on check-in, being given the wrong room, not being told the right room number and even not having a key to the room I was given.. Everything else went very well. Upon discussing this check-in shambles, the Manager couldn’t do more to make it up to me, and I felt like he really cared. Something you tend not to get in larger, chain hotels. As a wedding venue hotel, this is a cute and well styled hotel. Despite the fact it could do with a little modernisation, this only serves to add to its charm.

We found it a bit tricky to find but once we did find it we dropped a marker pin into our sat nav so we could find it again much easier. Lovely friendly and helpful staff with 2 adorable doggy meeter and greeters at reception. The bed was spotless and very comfortable. The hotel has generally needs a bit of TLC and updating in areas but for the price with breakfast included and free onsite parking what more can you expect?! The staff were exceptional and couldn't do more to make us feel welcome.

A lovely little hotel, in need of a little tlc in some places but this doesn't detract from the overall experience. The staff are fantastic, can't do enough for you and always help immediately if required, which was the only downside as there was never anyone at the bar to take food and drinks orders the 3 times I went to it. Also, breakfast buffet had no eggs or hash browns when I went down but I thought I'd have toast and coffee first and they would bring more out during this time. Unfortunately after almost 15 minutes I had to go to reception to ask for some, and the lady was straight onto it with a smile, but you shouldn't have to look for staff for these types of things. I feel mean mentioning this, as the staff are wonderful but I was left feeling like the organisation was lacking. I stay at hotels every week and if this hotel could get the organisation right it would be a 10/10 rating easily!

A quirky little hotel conveniently located just off the A303 near Amesbury. Ample (free) parking. Excellent buffet breakfast (full English or continental).

Conveniently situated near a main road but unaffected by noise from it. Large comfortable rooms with a generous breakfast. Ample choices for evening meals at the restaurant and drinks from the bar. Friendly and accommodating staff ensured that the overall experience was top notch.

Stayed overnight as we had a party in Salisbury which was 11 miles away, early 2pm check in was great to freshen up and the hotel was set in a peaceful quiet area, no noise at all, comfy bed, tea & coffee making facilities, nice breakfast area with fruit juices, yogurts, cereals, toast & jams, waffles and full English with lovely quality sausages and bacon, would normally stay at a chain hotel/motel when in this area but this will now be my in place to stay

It was a decent hotel, which we needed close to Thruxton race track(5minute drive), breakfast was good and the staff are really friendly.

An elegant property close to Salisbury, Stonehenge and Andover. Once a new TV cable was fitted, reception was perfect. A large car park and a good cooked breakfast. I would have liked a fruit bowl, but when I enquired there were just apples and bananas brought out.

Food was great both dinner and breakfast. Room although some attempt has been made to bring it up to date more work is needed.

great location, the breakfast was poor quality but adequate with the dog we were greeted by two giant akita dogs who phased some of the visitors - no water outside for the dog by the way. Floor for breakfast in dog friendly room was dirty and the table cloth had stains. for the money it was ok but would noy stay again. Staff nice but the hotel needs attention - pillows poor quality so was the bed and bedding with a couple of tweaks it could be great.

One of the worst hotel I have been in the UK. The food is horrible, the bathroom is shocking, do not order the curry unless you want something out of a jar. Avoid at all costs
