Stayed 2 nights

We had a wonderful , peaceful stay at the cottage. The only issue was that it was too short but I will stay again. John and Peter are very lovely people and make great hosts. They make themselves available if you need anything. The grounds were awesome, just so pretty and I took quite a few photos of the scenery to use as reference photos for my artwork. I loved the cottage it was so peaceful

Stayed 3 nights

Not as expected. Nothing was clean and the entire place and everything in it needs serious cleaning. I picked up a glass and it was grimy and sticky. The kitchen had a musty smell. I opened the 'guest guide' and bits of cheese fell out. We expected to be able to use the wood burning stove as it was very cold and were told it wasn't available for use. There are large gaps around windows&doors making it freezing cold as well as having so many uncleaned cobwebs and spiders, even in a box of tissues. There was an electric oil heater in the bedroom which was totally inadequate particularly with big gaps and draughts in the house. The 'generous provisions' described in the listing consist of used jars of peanut butter and jam. We opened the jam and it had mould in it!! We also had the owner walking in while we were trying to sort some dinner, came into the kitchen and proceeded to get dog food from the freezer and leave again. The doors here don't lock so this was a weird interruption to have. The bathroom is accessed via going outside and crossing the verandah and has no lock. It had huge gaps in the ceiling full of cobwebs, and the shower curtain had black mould on it, which was the final straw for me. I chose not to shower in this place. We were meant to be staying for 3 nights. After one freezing night we got up early and left without showering in that dirty bathroom, finding somewhere normal to stay. I'm sorry, but this place is in no way suitable to be rented out.

Great meeting you both – I, and my friends, are captivated by your property, its history, the interesting conversations, and your generosity as hosts. I love the cottage, setting, and the wonderful change of pace it provides. All the best to you both - i will be back John
