The breakfast was good, however they would not deviate from the menu. I asked for an omelette, however I was told this was not possible as not on the menu - bit disappointed. Spa was so relaxing, could have stayed longer than the 2 hours allotted. Infinite pool - perfect. Dinner at night did not disappoint lots of choice and beautifully cooked. The only down side was the room cleaning. The bed in the room would be made up however if there was a used mug it was not cleaned, it was just left. Again minor but disappointing.

Fantastic stay the shepherds hut, which was much larger than expected and beautifully appointed. The facilities in the hotel are excellent. The restaurant was great and the spa and outdoor pool was fantastic. The massage by the Spanish lady was one of the best I’ve had. We also took the ferry over to Tarbert one afternoon, which was 20 minutes away and just glorious. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

Had an overnight stay in a lodge room and wished we could have stayed longer. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet with views of the Loch and surrounding countryside. There's a decent restaurant overlooking the marina and nice leisure & spa facilities on the complex.

The whole stay was amazing. Staff were really friendly, the spa was incredibly relaxing, and the cabin accommodation was perfect and in a really scenic spot. The only fault was the outdoor pools were pretty cold, but the weather was chilly generally during our stay.

Lodge room was very comfortable, clean. Bit of a walk to get to restaurant from it if you want to have a drink first or have mobility issues. But top marks to hotel reception they organised a pick up from room & back when finished by a very pleasant & helpful young man called Pete. Only issue was my steak at dinner, it wasn't good & don't think it was rump either as said on menu Other than that food very good

We stayed in Lodge 5, the room carpet and bathroom floors were really dirty as was the kettle and some of the furniture. We mentioned to housekeeping staff member and was told someone would contact us. This never happened and by time we checked out we still had not had any contact.

Fantastic stay in Portavadie for our anniversary. The lodge rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Food in the Marina Restaurant was lovely and staff were warm and friendly. Spa facilities were an added bonus, we loved the outdoor infinity pool with stunning scenery. There was a card and chocolates in our room wishing us a happy anniversary. We thought this was a lovely touch and we would recommend and stay again.

Enjoyable stay at Portavadie. Lodge room was spacious and clean. It was chilly at times and there was no way to increase the room temperature. There was an out of service toilet adjacent to our room which was smelly and detracted from our experience. It was a fairly long walk (or drive) from the reception and the restaurant to our room and further still to the swimming pool and spa. The restaurant was good for both dinner and breakfast and the staff were very pleasant. I was not impressed by a member of staff at the reception desk at the spa/pool who ignored us for 2 minutes as they processed something on their PC. A ‘hello, I will be with you in a minute’ would have sufficed. The heated outdoor infinity pool was lovely given the views it offers. Overall a pleasant stay but not a luxury experience and not great value for money.

The hotel is described as a 'Luxury hotel and spa' - the room was fine, but I wouldn't describe it as 'luxury'. The bathroom and shower were quite small and the room just had one small window. The breakfast food was very nice, but the coffee was instant - which I wouldn't expect in a 'luxury' hotel.

The overall location and facilities were gorgeous and check in was extremely smooth. We used the spa facilities and had treatments however, felt that we were rushed towards the end of our treatment and the staff were mopping floors before we had even come out of our treatment. It made us feel that we had to get out and upon reflection, perhaps treatments shouldn’t have been made available at that time if staff were looking to get away. When we had dinner at the restaurant we weren’t advised of what wasn’t available to eat due to being sold out and while we were waiting to be seated, we weren’t offered a drink or a menu. We stayed in the lodge and there was zero soundproofing so could hear people coming in and out of the building and those in the room above. The mattress was also uncomfortable and there was only body wash available in the room which seemed strange for somewhere that promotes their spa - would have expected body lotion, shampoo/conditioner etc and for the body wash to be detailed of what it was.

Bedroom noise from corridor doors was horrendous. A mixture of people coming and going and the rattling of squeaky doors was really bad. Apart from this it was a nice place. Dinner and breakfast was good, and scenery was very nice. Lodge Room number was LR02 for info.

Sadly we were unable to enjoy the break as much as we would have liked. Absolutely nothing to do with the resort. Quite the opposite! I unfortunately took unwell. Peter, the First Aider could not have been more attentive and dialled 999. He stayed with me until the Paramedics arrived. I was Blue lighted back down to Dunoon and kept in overnight. Once I had seen the doctor again the following morning and released from hospital. Portavadie sent Josh, a duty manager the 1.5 hours down to pick up me and my wife and return us to the resort. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such care anywhere else in the past.
Sadly we were unable to enjoy the break as much as we would have liked. Absolutely nothing to do with the resort. Quite the opposite! I unfortunately took unwell. We had a wonderful 3 night stay, the studio apartment, dog friendly was perfect for us. Only couple of tiny maintenance issues. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, they made our stay special. Food was good for breakfast and dinner. Our only disappointment was Tarbert was totally closed! Got the ferry over which was lovely, but not even a cafe open so came back in next ferry.

Fantastic stay in Portavadie for our anniversary. The lodge rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Food in the Marina Restaurant was lovely and staff were warm and friendly. Spa facilities were an added bonus, we loved the outdoor infinity pool with stunning scenery. There was a card and chocolates in our room wishing us a happy anniversary. We thought this was a lovely touch and we would recommend and stay again.

Absolutely BRILLIANT our stay was better than we could've imagined. Hotel and spa were fantastic. We had booked the spa for 4pm but got lost on our journey. I called the hotel and they said don't worry we will change it if possible for your arrival and they did. The restaurant was fully booked too but again the staff came good and managed to fit us in. Next day when we were leaving and I was short on petrol the staff came to the rescue again and we were able to buy fuel from the marina.Just to let you reviewers know I was riding a motorbike. The food was excellent both at dinner and next day breakfast. Only word of advice would be book early for the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Really can't praise the staff highly enough. I will definitely be going back. Brilliant hotel in a fantastic setting and second to none staff.

The whole stay was amazing. Staff were really friendly, the spa was incredibly relaxing, and the cabin accommodation was perfect and in a really scenic spot. The only fault was the outdoor pools were pretty cold, but the weather was chilly generally during our stay.

Enjoyable stay at Portavadie. Lodge room was spacious and clean. It was chilly at times and there was no way to increase the room temperature. There was an out of service toilet adjacent to our room which was smelly and detracted from our experience. It was a fairly long walk (or drive) from the reception and the restaurant to our room and further still to the swimming pool and spa. The restaurant was good for both dinner and breakfast and the staff were very pleasant. I was not impressed by a member of staff at the reception desk at the spa/pool who ignored us for 2 minutes as they processed something on their PC. A ‘hello, I will be with you in a minute’ would have sufficed. The heated outdoor infinity pool was lovely given the views it offers. Overall a pleasant stay but not a luxury experience and not great value for money.

Had an overnight stay in a lodge room and wished we could have stayed longer. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet with views of the Loch and surrounding countryside. There's a decent restaurant overlooking the marina and nice leisure & spa facilities on the complex.

The hotel is described as a 'Luxury hotel and spa' - the room was fine, but I wouldn't describe it as 'luxury'. The bathroom and shower were quite small and the room just had one small window. The breakfast food was very nice, but the coffee was instant - which I wouldn't expect in a 'luxury' hotel.

The overall location and facilities were gorgeous and check in was extremely smooth. We used the spa facilities and had treatments however, felt that we were rushed towards the end of our treatment and the staff were mopping floors before we had even come out of our treatment. It made us feel that we had to get out and upon reflection, perhaps treatments shouldn’t have been made available at that time if staff were looking to get away. When we had dinner at the restaurant we weren’t advised of what wasn’t available to eat due to being sold out and while we were waiting to be seated, we weren’t offered a drink or a menu. We stayed in the lodge and there was zero soundproofing so could hear people coming in and out of the building and those in the room above. The mattress was also uncomfortable and there was only body wash available in the room which seemed strange for somewhere that promotes their spa - would have expected body lotion, shampoo/conditioner etc and for the body wash to be detailed of what it was.

But top marks to hotel reception they organised a pick up from room & back when finished by a very pleasant & helpful young man called Pete. Only issue was my steak at dinner, it wasn't good & don't think it was rump either as said on menu Other than that food very good

The breakfast was good, however they would not deviate from the menu. I asked for an omelette, however I was told this was not possible as not on the menu - bit disappointed. Arrived to find sofa bed did not have bed linen. Went to reception to be told the hotel no longer had sofa beds but jayzee single beds. Assured receptionist I had booked a room with large bed and sofa bed in a room for my daughter and I and there was definitely a sofa bed there that just required bed linen. Opened out the sofa bed to discover crumbs, chocolate buttons and a previous guest’s Young Scot card. Room service guy turned up with a jayzee single bed but informed him that there was a sofa bed so could he please just bring us bed linen and vacuum the bed. Nice guy did this. It was like a scene from Fawlty Towers! Carpets in the Lodge rooms need renewed or a professional steam clean to get rid of stains. The changing rooms in the spa area were dirty. Breakfast was lovely and staff at breakfast were friendly. Need to have a TV in the communal lounge area of Lodge accommodation. Messages coming from staff was that the new hotel management was woeful with staff placed on zero hours contracts and many of them leaving in their droves. Would I book again! NO!
