Great pub with great access to the coastal path, amazing food comfort room with amazing views

Lovely accommodation with a balcony which had lovely views. The pub was lovely, the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The area is very pretty - nice for a walk after dinner We would definitely recommend this lovely pub

We stayed 2 nights with our dog. Very clean room, super breakfast and very friendly staff. Just a note please replace toaster at breakfast. Out of 6 slots only 3 work.

We booked Stifkey Red Lion for 1 night as we were at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, the pub was fairly easy to find and had ample off street parking, the room was very clean and check in very straight forward. It was quiet and relaxing and the bed was very comfortable, teaa/coffee making facilities are provided as are the bathroom towels etc.The breakfast menu which included toast and cereals had a very good choice of dishes, all topped off with fruit juice and tea/coffee. We would definitely stay again.

Overall good experience, breakfast was nice too, my only negative would be that the balcony decking needs replacing but if that was done I would have no hesitation in booking again.

Lovely little rooms tucked away from main road and super breakfast options, all freshly cooked. Staff really helpful too. A little attention to maintenance of balcony decking needed and bathroom floor tiles loose, with extract fan not working.. listed as only bath so no shower or even over bath type curtain available.

Very cosy room, easy parking, lovely food

There were a few cobwebs, but on the whole the room was clean.

We enjoy our nice and clean room and the rest of our stay.

Lovely stay at The Red Lion. Wonderful food especially amazing cooked breakfasts. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Nice clean room. Very comfy. Stairs up to room so may be tricky for people with mobility issues.

The bedroom block was poorly presented - exterior walkway unswept and badly maintained. Mis-matched and cracked tiles in bathroom, discoloured grouting, damaged mirror, inadequate shower bracket making it unuseable, dirty shelf and window surround, loose toilet seat. Drink splashes on walls, outdated furniture with several damaged areas, dirty tea tray. Holes in corners of duvet cover. Paintwork excessively damaged. The room needs a complete refurbishment and was not worth what we paid. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly and helpful but the bedroom fell very short of what was advertised compared with what was available elsewhere for the same price.

I have mixed feelings for this property hence the 3 star overall rating. Pros: Friendly, welcoming staff Room balcony (this was the star of the show!) Pleasant contemporary room decoration Location, excellent access to salt marsh walks Cons: No cooked breakfasts on a Monday (was not informed when I booked) Food was mixed, out of 4 meals at dinner, 2 were excellent, 2 were poor - the poor ones were the polenta with burrata, a whole fridge cold mozzerella lump was placed on top of the cooked polenta. The coldness of this did not suit the meal and let the whole thing down. Had it been warmed a bit and even better allowed to melt a bit it would have changed it all for the better! The second poor dish was the chocolate and orange choux bun, my husband described it as though it was cheaply shop bought, and cooked several days ago and then heated up. Very disappointing. However, in contrast, the smoked salmon at breakfast cut sushimi style was the best I've ever had! The floor of the room had lots of seeds from outside foliage that had flown in and a dead bug and this was not cleaned up when the bedding was changed which would have been nice. No shower cubicle/curtain and the shower not attached to wall. Had to shower sitting in the bath...I did not notice this when booking so will look harder next time! It's a shame about these few things as it is a lovely place and the location is excellent and staff lovely. I think we just got unlucky with the meals we chose!

I was disappointed with the quality of the accommodation at the Stiffkey Red Lion. I found the level of cleanliness and quality of the room to be below par, and the room clearly was in need of refurbishment. Most notably, the window blinds were ineffective and consequently it was very difficult to sleep, the mattress on the bed was of poor quality and the bathroom was not fitted with a shower.

The accommodation block looked unpromising as we approached it but the rooms were good, clean, comfortable etc and a balcony with views a real bonus on sunny days (we had rain!). The tray of coffee/tea etc had great selection including much appreciated decaf and good quality wrapped biscuits Breakfast was first class - everything spot on. Congratulations. Maybe be best to avoid Tuesday nights. We thought we were under siege soon after 6am with orange lights flashing and loud hailer sounding instructions. It proved to be a bin lorry reversing!!! Despite this, a great stay.

Great little pub and restaurant. The room was quite small and exceptional warm (but the weather was great). A fan was provided (personally not keen on them ) to cool the room. We had the door to the balcony open but there was quite a bit of noise from traffic leaving the car park. There was some confusion about the opening times/days of the restaurant but that was the fault of Hotels.com not the hotel staff. The food was delicious and freshley cooked to order as was breakfast which was equally as good. A little out of the way (further from Wells next the Sea, than i thought) but the night sky was worth that.

A simple hotel with all basic necessities in the room. Room was a reasonable size with a lovely little terrace outside. Bathroom is a good size though shower very small and door didn’t close. Lovely bar area and conservatory for breakfast. Breakfast was good food hot. Unfortunately no gluten free bread available. Best bit was the staff all unfailingly helpful and friendly. This is a little gem of a place.

Food was not great at Evening. Breakfast faultless. Shower err! No wall fixings so my partner had to shower me. Not what I want. No shower door or curtain. Water everywhere. Water hot and on demand so a bath was possible but I just need to shower without my partner spraying me.. Jury out on this one. My partner argued with bar staff about dinner quality. Brancaster Mussels where disappointing.

Great service, friendly staff. The one downside was no overhead shower, just a bath with a handheld shower. As the accommodation isn't very old (unlike the beautiful old pub) it was a little disappointing but not a deal breaker.

The best thing was the staff, they were very polite and helpful nothing was to much trouble. We thought the location was very good for getting about, it made for a good base. We enjoyed the food especially the breakfast. All in all we would definitely stay here again.

What a lovely hotel, such a friendly and efficient service and lovely staff, general areas of the hotel ate beautifully decorated and the rooms very comfy

Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and did everything possible to make our stay a good one. Facilities overall were very good, though room would’ve benefited from having a proper fixed shower unit. Food was also excellent if a little pricey, and couldn’t fault the service at all, staff were fantastic.

Our room was spacious and comfortable. All the staff were exceptionally welcoming and did their best to make sure we enjoyed our stay.

The welcome and customer service were outstanding. An example being the item on the menu my wife hoped to have for dinner was sold out and the waitress and chef combined to provide an excellent alternative. would have liked to have a shower facility in the bathroom and the bed mattress was softer than we prefer

This visit was my first time in Norfolk and the Stiffkey Red Lion was an ideal location for Walsingham, Wells and the numerous nature reserves in the area. The walks from the Red Lion to the sea or inland are excellent. I strongly recommend this hotel. The food was very good.

Quite a pleasant place to stay. Lovely breakfast in the morning. Staff were very friendly. Didn’t eat there at night. They were fully booked on the first night. Couldn’t fit us in. Never mind booking, there ought to be some form of auto reservation system for paying guests. We drove into wells and had fish n chips on the front!!

This visit was my first time in Norfolk and the Stiffkey Red Lion was an ideal location for Walsingham, Wells and the numerous nature reserves in the area. The walks from the Red Lion to the sea or inland are excellent. I strongly recommend this hotel. The food was very good.
