Comfort Inn Charleston South

Hopped in the pool before realizing it was fully of bird feather and the bottom was filthy. No point in having a pool if it’s going to be that gross.

I purposely book this hotel because we’re picking up our grand children from North Carolina and taking them to Ohio to stay with us for the week. I wanted the kids to be able to swim in the pool and get some energy out halfway through the trip. It rained earlier in the day and the staff said they couldn’t open the pool because it had rained. Even though the rest of the evening And the next morning were perfectly beautiful and sunny. They refused to open the pool. It was in the high 80s.

Great option if staying in the area. Easy drive to downtown or Vascular surgery center at Hospital. Shopping center close by has a Kroger’s, dollar store, Lowe’s, and a few restaurant. The hotel was very clean, their free breakfast was great. Lake front view included in price, plenty of parking, and a pool. There is a McDonalds about 200 feet away. Great stay.

room was good. clean. staff was attentivde. only problem, they only have 2 carts. check out there were none to be found.

There wasn't coffee or juice for breakfast. The elevator did not work due to power outage. Kids running around in the room above us. Manager did not take care of this as promised. Asked for a discount from the very high $150 we paid and got none. Not a $150 hotel.

The hotel was easy to find and check in was quick. The rooms were clean and well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. There is a large selection of dining options just down road (within walking distance), but there are also a lot of homeless people in the area, so I don’t know that I would recommend walking around too much. There were six of us in two rooms and we had to make multiple trips down to the car with our luggage when we checked out at 5:30 am because there were no luggage carts to be found anywhere. When I asked at the counter the lady shrugged and said that if they weren’t around the corner then other people must have taken them. We checked all 3 floors in our building down every hallway and still couldn’t find one- Very disappointing. There was a lot of noise from the hallway with doors slamming and people talking and yelling, but it finally got quieter around midnight.

The person that greeted us at check in was very nice. Downtown Charleston was easy to get to since the highway was right there. The pool was very sad looking and a couple of the spots in the building could use some updating (the elevator scared me a bit).

Having the swimming pool in the middle of the parking lot, beside a McDonald’s drive through was not appealing. The hotel should take better advantage of its position beside the river. The small “patio” built in the middle of the parking lot serves more as a smoking section than a relaxing patio. Otherwise our stay was quick and comfortable. Thank you for the breakfast, too.

Bed bugs

Sat on the bed and noticed a STRONG urine smell. Pulled back the comforter and found a large urine stain. When moved to a new room, noticed ants crawling (even felt one on me when I slept), one bed had some type of crumbs, and then there was another bug of some sort the next morning. The receptionist "checked the beds" to make sure they were good, but didn't feel the crumbs when moving us to the new room on a different floor. She blamed it on "new housekeepers" and apologized, and told us she would inform the manager/owner who would be upset and would likely take care of us/everything in the morning. On checkout, the guy at the desk said he was the desk manager at that time and we informed him of everything. He said to contact Expedia for any type of refund since that's how we booked it, and he had an "I don't care" attitude. The second room didn't have a urine stain at least. But honestly I've been in a hotel and found bedbugs, which I thought was the worst hotel experience. This one was the worst, I was absolutely disgusted. Biohazard beats bedbugs.

Roaches Roaches and more Roaches .

Very clean and well maintained with a nice breakfast!

Staff was super friendly. Rooms smelled bad. Power went out. Sheets were dirty. Bathtub wasn't clean.

Had a handicap room and it smelled and was dirty. We had to take a standard room and that was a bit better but still smelled.

I was about to go to to sleep and a roach decided to hang out with us on the night stand. He was way too comfortable so we decided to leave at 1 am to go to another hotel. We notified the front desk when we were leaving and the attendant was too high to even speak in understandable sentences, so she definitely wasn’t any help. She told us they exterminated the building next door but didn’t believe there were any roaches in that building even though we had photo evidence. Save your money!!!!!!

We were surprised on how dirty the room was. We found hairs in the sheets and the bathroom smelled like urine the entire time. The lobby was clean and so was the breakfast area. We only stayed one night. Was a bummer.

Bed and pillows comfortable and room quiet. Shower was spotless! Overall I give it a rating of 3 only because dusting was not done in inconspicuous areas and woke up to sweet ants on nightstand. I did have a cup of coffee with sweetened creamer in their defense but still? Advised main desk and response was quick and polite. Breakfast area clean and friendly staff. We would stay again but had similar quality in Rock Hill for 50.00 less? We thought it was a little pricey for experience and age of hotel.

Pros - excellent service, room was very clean, really great water pressure, no random weird smells or noises Cons - drink vending machine had the change and bill slots taped over to only accept bills at a 6% tax, but it didn't matter because it was completely sold out. Breakfast was disappointing. Completely hilarious, but might be helpful to others - the bed in my room was pretty high, like waist level. I'm 5'4. I had to move the ottoman over to the bed, and use it as a step to then get onto the bed. Picture a little kid climbing a jungle gym, go ahead. Laugh. I did. Oh, and every morning I would have forgotten about the height, so just picture a toddler going down a slide.....

The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was too small. The TV needed repairs. The vision was blurry. The USB plugs needed repairs.

It was just ok. Old TV model and the screen was so distorted. Thin walls and lots of noise from the adjoining rooms. Cheap enough for one night but we won't be going back.

We stayed one night on our way through to NC. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was on the first floor and was clean and very comfortable. The sheets were amazing for a hotel bed! The walls are a bit thin and we could hear the room next to us talking briefly. The worst was that they were up at 2:30am getting ready and we could hear the shower go off and on as everyone was getting ready. Would not have been an issue if it was a more normal time in the morning. The breakfast was typical continental with the waffle station, pastries, and cereal. They did offer scrambled eggs and sausage as well. There was an attendant so every thing seemed to stay in stock. We would stay here again, but knowing we are taking a risk with who we end up next to.

Comfortable beds, nice and clean

The front desk and breakfast staff were all friendly and competent. The hotel was clean and well taken care of. In the future, some updating of the rooms would improve the quality of the hotel.

Walls and ceilings are thin and noisy. Plumbing/pipes rattle, knock, bang. Probably won’t be staying here again.

Hotel is dated and tired. Words I'd use to describe: drab, unwelcoming, mediochre(sp?). It was "okay" but we're used to more.

Nice breakfast. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a room overlooking the river which runs behind the property. It was a nice view.

One front desk staff was super nice. The rest were beyond rude and unhelpful. Tried returning as a guest to be talked to so rude by a man with a severe complex named Matt I just walked out. Would not recommend.

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted very nicely by Matt! He went above and beyond our expectations!! From helping with check in to recommending sights to also accommodating my medical ice packs! What a wonderful employee!!! The hotel was updated, clean, secure and well lit. The breakfast was big and delicious! We totally would recommend this great hotel!

Usually when I check into hotels late in the evening the staff aren’t really friendly but the staff here were super friendly and polite. The room was also very clean!

Staff was friendly and helpful. From front desk to cleaning staff, and breakfast hospitality staff. It was a wonderful experience!

The reception lady when checking out was very rude and spoke so harshly even after I being calm and explaining her the bill details were wrongly charges as I was promised when I checked in by the other receptionist or check in person, very very unprofessional. No Manager on the property to report the issue, never recommending anybody at this place :(((

Check-in was easy/ friendly efficient staff who provided list of local restaurants. Shower was excellent except low water pressure/ not uncommon these days. Beds very comfortable / quiet rooms, Brft was std/ nothing special except coffee Mach offered mocha latte's & expresso choices - unheard of in mid-range hotels. I would definitely stay again when future travels bring me to this area.

Check-in clerk was professional, friendly, and efficient. The furniture and fixtures are in great condition. Each side of the bed had two electrical outlets AND two USB outlets.

Staff in breakfast knook could be nicer. Tables not to wobble.our last night power went out. Stayed out 12t hours. No emergency lighting on second or third floor. Scary. We stayed the night but I did not sleep. When I told person at front desk about it. She just said ok. To me it was more of a safety concern. They said it wasn't’ there hotel outage and no comps I will not stay here ever again. I was traveling with my family.

This hotel has no curb appeal however our king room was clean, comfortable and staff was responsive. They have a breakfast bar w/ a waffle iron, scrambled eggs, cereal and more which is enough to start the day full. The property blended into an old part of town that left much to be desired. It had a combined parking lot with the adjacent Quality Inn. They could do more to make it appealing upon arrival. There was a pool in the parking lot... would never want to swim there if for no other reason, the location. There was no information about the area provided in the room such as nearby places of interest of places to eat, shop. There are no restaurants around...only fast food. Really, it was difficult to find any restaurants in the whole of Charleston. Great for an overnight turn around but I would n't come back to this area.

Despite being close to the interstate was quite quiet. Lots of eating options around and a nice view of the river from the room.

Easy access to the highway and lots of dining choices in the area. Clean, comfortable room.

Stayed one night on a quick trip. Hotel is conveneint to I-77 and very clean and quiet. Good value for the price. Staff is friendly

Nice place inside. Clean rooms. Nice riverfront view. Surrounding area a bit industrial but quiet room away from the highway was perfect and convenient

The Comfort Inn was clean, comfortable, and the breakfast options were delicious!

Clean comfortable, up to date. Slept great! Breakfast was REAL food. Eggs, sausage all tasty instead of those powdered and sawdust filled poison that other hotels offer. Great hotel with a reasonable price!

Everything was perfect….the room was spotless, the parking close to the room, check in was amazing, and the breakfast excellent.

Not a smile from front desk at checking in, the staff were coughing and smoking all the time, around area isn’t safe and nice, pool was good breakfast was not fresh they didn’t even replace fruits or anything, so bad , the same every day, so boring. I would never stay there again, I had to bet to clean the room after 3 days staying in there :( I saw the woman who serves food pushing the trash and shaking it and then went to organize the food, without washing hands or sanitize them, so bad, no wonder every one is coughing and sneezing in there.

People friendly and room clean. Do NOT expect a decent cup of coffee. Awful machine making watered down lukewarm beverage that barely resembles coffee. Bring back drip ground please.

Trip from Ohio to SC and up the coast This stop was on our way home Very nice and clean Close to I-64 without the highway noise Breakfast very good Made to order coffee excellent, reminded me of the machines at the Marriott in Paris France😋

Breakfast on the weekends arent until 7am, so if you are making the trip for spring break and this is your half way stop, just know you have to make a McDs run if you want to hit the road early
