For a long weekend stay it was a great location. However, was not made aware that there was building works being done. The pool was on the cold side and only two loungers. That said the room was fine, with coffee machine and tea facilities. Clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and polite.

Stayed here for a nearby wedding and had a great experience. The hotel was clean and had good facilities. The highlight was definitely the pool — my son absolutely loved it! It made the stay extra enjoyable. We also appreciated the on-site parking and had fun playing pool in the leisure area. Would stay again.

I really didn't like my first room 201 it was.a standard rooms but for me it wasn't up to the price tag. It was too hot not enough power points.But I did get upgraded to the club house which is much nicer. I was also disappointed the swimming pool you have to pay per session. When I chose the hotel based on a swimming pool I expected to use all the time. As a result from what I saw in the gym the pool was mostly not used.

Very quiet, comfortable and clean (apart from the floor could have done with a more thorough hoover). Pool and spa facilites were great. Although they need to have towels in the changing rooms and a costume drier.

Staff were friendly but efficient. Everywhere was clean. I particularly enjoyed the use of the gym, sauna, steam room and swimming pool all that looked fairly new. It would have been enhanced by a Jacuzzi but I am not sure where Barton could put one! One potential improvement would be if the room key could be used to operate the car park barrier to avoid having to ask reception to raise the barrier each time I returned to the hotel. But my only reason for not giving 5 stars overall was that my room was a lttle on the cramped side compared to similar hotels for a similar price.

Food was great as were staff. The room was very hot and no AC so relied on opening window. The radiator in the room didn’t seem on. Made for a difficult sleep. But overall the hotel was great and spa nice. Great with my 3.5yo son too!

Wow myself and my partner stayed 2 weeks ago. What can we say. Excellent with very friendly and welcoming staff. It was our first visit but definitely be one of our favourites. Lovely hotel with spa and pool very clean all round. Breakfast and evening meal was spot on with lovely food, restaurant not badly priced. Note £10 for the pool swim and spa but well worth it. Would definitely recommend

The property itself and staff very efficient. Pool. Gym etc very good. Though heavily let down by the room we had been put in, The Garehouse. Very clean and snart though also very much on the main road away from main Hotel, noise from traffic was shocking to say the least, we expected it to calm down later at night, No. 4am heavy artics shaking the kids phone of window cill. Horrific. Two other little annoying things, no sausages at breakfast? Go and buy some. Teo if three largers off as they had a wedding night before?. Apart very good.... On leaving the receptionist said they would spreak to manager, usually happens and never hear anything back, as per, nothing back to me as yet.

Really nice place with fantastic facilities: pool and well-equipped gym were spotless. Food in the restaurant was pricey as to be expected but very good. Only a couple of let-downs, including finger nail clippings in our room (definitely not ours!), and disabled toilet not stocked with toilet paper, no paper cups by the water cooler in the gym etc. Nothing major, but for a quiet Monday night/Tuesday morning before the school holidays, and plenty of staff milling around, these were disappointing oversights. Would absolutely come back, however.

Very clean room, very warm ( I turned the radiator down and opened the window!). Excellent dining options, breakfast was perfect with lots of options and attentive and friendly staff. I used the pool, nice. Shower was excellent.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, having booked a deluxe room with bath. The room we were allocated had no bath and was grubby. There was dust on the furniture which may have come from the building work going on at the side and back of the hotel. The carpet had not been vacuumed under the furniture or round the edges. The bathroom floor had not been swept. There were 2 of us and we had to ask for towels every day as they were removed by housekeeping presumably. Due to the building works, the exit gate was not usable. It was necessary to go out via the In gate, controlled by a barrier. To get out, we had to get out of the car, walk around the barrier and wait for reception to answer the intercom to lift the barrier On the last night, we were unable to get into the car park as the barrier was not working. Even the resident DJ could not get it to work. Eventually the receptionist managed to get the barrier to work, telling us it was a computer glitch.

My friends and I lived the place. Very clean. Staff very professional but friendly. There were a common ice machine in the corridor and tea facilities in the room. Food was superb. We wished we were staying longer as it was so nice and peaceful. Would definitely use this hotel again. Thank you.

The Hotel is advertised as a spa yet when we arrived on the Saturday there was a wedding in full swing which took over the hotel and grounds making it difficult to avoid guests and children. We were advised that this would be going on till the early hours. Also we were unable to book any treatment or enjoy the facilities as none were available as pre booked or no staff available. There was no where else to go in the hotel for relaxation or entertainment. After 6 hours of feeling hopelessly bored and trying to avoid the noisy wedding guests we gave up and decided to go home. THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE TO DO!!!! Why are potential guests not warned about weddings or facilities pre booked. They could change their weekend then to actually attend the Spa Facilities that Barton Moor professes to offer. I was very disappointed and upset that no refund partial or otherwise was offered as given the horrible experience we had with no alternatives available Plus if you charge £154 for an “executive room” make sure the view from the window does not overlook the extractor fans and vents of the whole of the kitchen roof and fire escape. Terrible view for the money paid. I will NOT be recommending Barton Moor!!!!!

Our first time staying here as an overnight stay to break up a journey from Edinburgh to London, I had booked the gatehouse. The accommodation itself was lovely with interconnecting rooms for our children, however I hadn’t appreciated the gatehouse would be situated right by the main road (which is a pretty busy road) and my children found it hard to sleep with the noise. Main hotel is nice, kids enjoyed the pool (but it is now apparently £10pp which feels a lot on top of your room) and breakfast was okay.

Didn't feel four star to be honest. Restaurant evening meal was good, if pricey, but breakfast wasn't great. Our room was very hot on arrival, but did have printed instructions on how to work the thermostat. Sadly there wasn't a thermostat in our room, so we had to sleep on top of the duvet. Walls were very thin, and we got very little sleep thanks to the noise. I asked to move to a quieter room where we might get some sleep, but was told I'd have to pay another £25. Not impressed, and won't be back.

Booked to stay as we were attending the wedding of our nephew. Early wedding so had to leave our bags in the car until after 2pm check-in. Not really a problem but would have been nice to hang my extra clothes earlier. Staff polite and helpful. Room OK but no aircon so quite warm. There was a desk fan in the room so that helped. Breakfast was good with a variety of continental and cooked breakfast. Refreshed regularly

Our room was next to the lift. It wasn’t until we turned the lights off to sleep that we heard the noise of the lift every time someone used it. We were kept awake till 1am and then woken up at 5.30am by it. I thought about contacting reception but the thought of moving rooms in the middle of the night in my pjs was not an option.

Family room was good with nice decor, tge downside being its proximity to the A6. Large trucks going past on the road caused a light fitting to ring like a bell. Only stuffing clothes into the light fitting made sleep possible. Breakfast was also good with reasonable options.

A little underwhelming. Asked for a non slip bath mat twice in 2 days it never arrived. Had to wait 8 minutes for car park barrier to be raised. No lemon for G&T. Seemed to charge extra for everything. Just disappointing.

Not impressed, and won't be back.

Without any other thoughts, it's been a while since I have stayed in a hotel that maintains high standards and service that is reasonably priced. Especially reception day and night, customer service second to none. If you can stop even for a night you won't be disappointed especially the value for money side.

So many good things about this hotel but the service in the restaurant was charmless at breakfast and non-existent when we wanted to eat last night. We waited several minutes to be seated without so much as a nod, so I asked at the bar for a table. Three staff then went back and forth past us without acknowledging us at all. It was a Sunday night, there were only two other tables busy, that I could see. I gave up and left.

We booked this hotel as an overnight stop off on the way to the Lake District. The staff were amazing and came out in the rain to help us in with out bags. They couldn't do enough for me or my child and even gave my daughter a little present as she was leaving. I wish all hotels delivered this level of experience

Great welcome on arrival. Reception very busy but made my check-in as simple as possible. My visit was part of an extended business trip and the stay was a welcome R&R stop. Didn't get chance to use all the facilities on offer, but the restaurant provided a relaxing, enjoyable hour or so to unwind. Compliments to the Chef(s) the food was excellent and the attentive restaurant staff completed my dining experience. Will be making this venue a regular stop-over when I'm next in the area.

Our first time staying here as an overnight stay to break up a journey from Edinburgh to London, I had booked the gatehouse. The accommodation itself was lovely with interconnecting rooms for our children, however I hadn’t appreciated the gatehouse would be situated right by the main road (which is a pretty busy road) and my children found it hard to sleep with the noise. Main hotel is nice, kids enjoyed the pool (but it is now apparently £10pp which feels a lot on top of your room) and breakfast was okay.

Staff were friendly but efficient. Everywhere was clean. I particularly enjoyed the use of the gym, sauna, steam room and swimming pool all that looked fairly new. It would have been enhanced by a Jacuzzi but I am not sure where Barton could put one! One potential improvement would be if the room key could be used to operate the car park barrier to avoid having to ask reception to raise the barrier each time I returned to the hotel. But my only reason for not giving 5 stars overall was that my room was a lttle on the cramped side compared to similar hotels for a similar price.

The property itself and staff very efficient. Pool. Gym etc very good. Though heavily let down by the room we had been put in, The Garehouse. Very clean and snart though also very much on the main road away from main Hotel, noise from traffic was shocking to say the least, we expected it to calm down later at night, No. 4am heavy artics shaking the kids phone of window cill. Horrific. Two other little annoying things, no sausages at breakfast? Go and buy some. Teo if three largers off as they had a wedding night before?. Apart very good.... On leaving the receptionist said they would spreak to manager, usually happens and never hear anything back, as per, nothing back to me as yet.

New upgraded bedrooms excellent. Restaurant food Poor standard which was a shame. Beer and wine served warm. Small improvements would make this a lovely place to stay. Considering the new investment a quality head chef and restaurant manager would make a big Difference.

Hotel accommodation very nice. Good room, comfortable and clean with a small, but serviceable bathroom. Nice touches with coffee and tea dispensers. Less impressive was the dining, we only had breakfast which was poorly run on both days. Sunday was done on a cook to order basis but there was no menu, eventually food sorted but coffee and tea came with no cups and saucers or milk, toast didn’t appear at all, the non cooked items were in a buffet which was short on content and variety. Mondays cooked buffet was available but with some items also available to order, once again no idea what as no menu. Poor management, training and supervision clearly needs to be tackled.

It was a nice looking hotel but i would not have awarded it 4 stars. We stayed for 3 nights and had 3 breakfasts, all of which were mediocre. The cooked food was cold and a bit undercooked and the choice of continental was very poor. We were shocked when asked to pay £10 person for 90 minute use of the pool and spa which in any other 4 Star hotel would have been included. The staff were lovely but the room was tired and needed upgraded. We would not consider staying at this Hotel again.

Wow myself and my partner stayed 2 weeks ago. What can we say. Excellent with very friendly and welcoming staff. It was our first visit but definitely be one of our favourites. Lovely hotel with spa and pool very clean all round. Breakfast and evening meal was spot on with lovely food, restaurant not badly priced. Note £10 for the pool swim and spa but well worth it. Would definitely recommend

A handy hotel for the motorway but the room was very tired and ready for a refurb. No hand soap in the bathroom and no loo brush. It was clean and the bed was comfy although the room was very warm. There were no voiles at the window so I couldnt have the curtains open as it was overlooked by houses and the garden.
