Exmouth Beach Hotel

Clean refurbished room and bathroom, good shower and friendly staff disappointed no bar open. Great seafront location.

We arrived to be told we would not be able to park on-property until the following day. Even then we had to wait for someone to check out and then follow them to "their" parking space. Everything was OK after that, but it was really inconvenient as I had to move my car early on Sunday morning. Room was OK. Nothing great. Bed was comfortable.

When we arrived we where told the bar wouldn't be open there was no restaurant only for breakfast. No welcome leaflet about the area. Bed and shower small. Could do with a make over.

Parking has at a charge and has a blue cone to reserve space. Which works if someone had not collected them in to a pile. Wall and ceiling crack and peeling. Windows let in a draft too.

Limescale in the toilet, room was tiny, the bar only has overpriced bottled beers and restricted parking for £8 a day.

Clean room but very basic and having to pay to use the car park

There was a warm and friendly welcome. The room was very clean and so was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. It is a budget hotel, obviously rather old with idiosyncratic shaped rooms and corridors. No lift so if you are on the upper floors and struggle with mobility not for you. The hotel has limited parking at £6.00 per day. Hotel is right on the seafront and only minutes from the town centre and shops. Lounges rather basic and sparse.

We only stayed for 1 night so don't have a great deal to say.The room was pretty basic but reasonably clean. Bathroom blind was filthy! Bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were allowed to leave our car on the carpark for a couple of extra hours after we had checked out. The car park is quite small and not easy to drive around, but it was okay, and cheaper than on street parking.

Staff were cold but efficient. Bed ok not great. Hot water good but no plug in sink and shower did not drain. £6 for parking... back parking good front trouble.

I cannot add a photo. The shower overflowed so I picked up the plug. The dirt, smell, and hair attached was months/years old and physically made me wretch then vomit. The radiator and desktop in the room were utterly filthy. The receptionists response was "Im sorry about that ma'am Ill speak to housekeeping". Brushed off like it was an everyday occurance. If ypu do stay here, check closely the cleanliness of your room and shower.

What can I say….. is there a minus stars option as opposed to 1 star? Starts with sending a message about parking 2 days before which never got answered. But a message received asking when I’d be there. Probably should be my first red flag. Got there nowhere to park as it’s limited parking. Parked at seafront which is free until 9am. Got to the room oh my god bedding ripped and I’ve seen cleaner teenagers rooms shoddily cleaned rooms in disrepair and plug socket siliconed to the wall. Hairdryer doesn’t work. But the state of the bathroom oh my god disgusting. Spent the worst night in an uncomfortable bed. Got up yo complain to man who was more interested in excusing everything because it was an old building like that meant the cleaner could clean the detritus in the shower. Wouldn’t give my money back or refund anything. Told that I’d have to wait until 11 to get parkedIF someone was going. If I want a refund to contact broker. Next day got woken to fire alarms (which I’m suprised work) 2 rubbish sleeps for my wife’s birthday and countless guests filth enough was enough and left early but hotels.com are just as bad not fighting the case for there customers and take it from hotel not to refund. AVOID AVOID AVOID. And devon council go and send in Health & Safety.

On arrival the hotel was clean and the receptionist was friendly and polite. Our double room on the first floor was small but adequate for the one night we were staying. It was clean and quiet although it could do with some modernising. The en suite bathroom was compact and clean with some free toiletries. The bed with its Hypnos mattress was the best of all and we both slept very soundly all night.

Pleasant hotel and I had a room with lovely sea view. The shower was my only complaint-very small, flimsy and a lot of old mould/dirt.

The room was a good size, the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and efficient.

We stayed here for 4 nights, staff were nice and friendly and area around the hotel is nice however my partner is covered in bites from bed bugs! We lifted the mattress and found them crawling around. When mentioned to staff and showed photo evidence he said they will get it cleaned and that was it.

Bath room smelt

Overall the hotel stay was comfortable enough. The bedding was clean but the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. There's a lot that could be done to improve the general cleanliness of the rooms. The little bin in the bathroom tucks down behind the toilet quite snuggly and is clearly never taken out for a wipe as it was covered in dust and greasy marks. The tap had build up of dark hand marks on parts of the surface that could be removed easily if attention was paid to cleaning. Dust build up on skirting boards and thick dust on upper window edge. Window catch wouldn't shut properly. TV remote wouldn't work and TV itself has no control buttons on the set so couldn't use it. Car parking was convenient, breakfast was nice and there was a choice of continental or English. Staff are friendly and helpful. I'd stay again if I could get into the other well known chain down the road. Not the worst I've stayed in but a lot to do to make it the best.

Love the area staff very friendly and helpful room little small to what we are use to but that’s my fault just booked a standard could do with fan in room as was very warm and u can’t open the window wide due to lock on it

The room was clean and spacioys shower powerful. The staff was amazing polite and very helpful. Literally opposite the beach Had to pay parking on top when we got there but was only £8 The breakfast was decent and so was the coffee

Lovely location! However poor nights sleep due to noise from slamming doors, cars driving past in the night and a very noisy lift opposite our room. Room was very warm so fans would be ideal. Bathroom very small but reflected in the price. Wonderful view from our Sea View room. King bed would have been much better however the room was too small to have accommodated this.

The hot water smelled funny, meaning I didn't use the shower as I was put off it. There was a constant humming noice coming from some kind of fan which kept me up.

Told I was disabled, so put us on the “ground floor” which had four or five steps. No offer to help. There was no tea or coffee and milk in the room.

Always a lovely place to stay in Exmouth. A great place to stay right on the beach front! Staff are friendly and super helpful. The rooms are always clean and have great amenities like tea, coffee and shower gels. I'll definitely rebook for whenever I visit.

I checked into EXMOUTH BEACH HOTEL for a one-night stay but had mistakenly booked for the following night instead of the intended date. I had travelled from London and hoped the manager would be understanding enough to change the booking. Initially, the manager refused to help because the booking was made through hotels.com. He advised me to contact hotels.com directly. Fortunately, hotels.com was helpful and promptly confirmed they could refund my room and change the booking. They said such changes are common if the hotel agrees, and they’d call the hotel to get their permission. As I waited, the manager at the reception refused to change the booking, saying I’d have to book twice and lose £60 I’d already paid. Despite my pleas, he remained adamant, citing the non-refundable nature of the room. Since there were rooms available for both nights, the choice of the night wouldn’t have mattered. However, I had to return to London without accommodation and missed work the next day because I couldn’t afford double the cost for a single night. This was an innocent mistake, and I’m sure anyone else would have been sympathetic and moved the booking. I’ve never received such cold and dogmatic customer service. I wouldn’t recommend staying here while this manager is still in charge.

Excellent stay - staff were more than helpful.

The service at this hotel was fabulous. They were very attentive, even when not expected. Our party of three adults asked for permission to use the common lounge area to meet up with two other friends and it was no problem. We didn’t ask, but they supplied us with wine and beer glasses as well as plates to share our nibbles. The family room was clean, spacious enough for three adults and it looked like it had had a recent facelift. We were very happy with our stay, considering we had read some not so favourable reviews and were initially a bit nervous about our three night stay. We x also didn’t realise this accommodation is on the beach front with lovely views from the dining room. Well done Exmouth Beach Hotel.

Sea front location

Great location.

Overall good experience, but shame about the size of the en suite, which was a little cramped. Slightly tired in appearance, needing one or two minor improvements. Staff very supportive when needed. Hotel in great location overlooking the beach. Close to all facilities. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A very enjoyable break.

I did not expect my stay at Exmouth Beach Hotel to be as good as it was. I was impressed with what I got for what I paid. Very affordable. Right on the beach front. Close to shops and dining. Nice cozy room with very comfortable bed. The staff was courteous. As I was waiting for a ride after checkout, they permitted me to wait in the lobby. A very nice stay. Would definitely recommend!

Very friendly staff, excellent welcome, didn't have meals but that was by choice. The hotel offers breakfast and dining area is very well laid out and spotless. Had superior room with fabulous view over beach and seafront. Room was well decorated and clean. Plenty of hot water, tea and coffee in room. Nothing was too much trouble and staff were very courteous.

We Loved it the staff are very good the buffet breakfast at £12 each is the best I've had location opposite the beach and within walking distance to the town a Hreat Holiday

The room and staff were fine but there were surprise charges for parking and breakfast. The location is great as it's right on the beach front with easy access to shops and the sea.

Nice pictures on wall in bedroom and the sea view was great. No welcome folder in bedroom. The 'private bathroom' was a tiny shower room which not straight and the towel rail not fixed to the wall properly. There were no bedside lights. Door at top of stairs was filthy. The website says 'breakfast available' with no indication of the charge for it, similarly for parking but that was very limited and on a first come, first served basis.

The staff were very friendly with a cheery welcome. Being place just a few yards from the beach all the usual attractions was excellent. They only provide breakfast as an option. This is self service and bordering on hot when we went down. The rooms were clean and tidy. Bathroom consisted of a small corner shower and a maserating toilet. Would I go again. Yes it's convenient and would say it's 3 star rating is about right.
