While the host was fantastic and made a lovely breakfast. The bed and room is very comfy... It would be nice to have a bit more than a hot water kettle or microwave for a small warm meal after traveling in the cold all day. I was really glad to have had a cup of noddles. as I did not want to drive to another "hotel/guesthouse" for dinner. I had planned a head and am traveling with some groceries for easy meals on the ring road... as you cannot always depend on restaurants.

Kind manager who provided a lovely breakfast. The heart waffles were delicious! The number of washrooms at times could be a little annoying, but having a sink in the room was such a help that it was quite bearable.

We booked this guesthouse through Hotels.com which indicates that you need to call in advance as there is no reception staff. We had a hard time getting our call through by using the phone number indicated on Hotels.com website. It took a long time and two attempts to get someone on the phone, and we were told that someone will be there at our arrival. We got to the guesthouse, but no one in sight. We tried again to call, but to no avail, and started panicking as we were far away from any location where we could have found other accommodations! We noticed two different phone numbers on the door. We called the first one, no answer! We called the 2nd one, and finally we got someone on the phone. So, the check-in nothing to be impressed with! The property: The exterior made us wonder if we had made the worst decision in terms of accommodations for our two-week trip to Iceland. The photos do not reflect the reality. The stairs badly need renovations. The building is old. The room: regular, shared bathroom. We didn’t appreciate the idea of tiding the shower/bathroom, as we think that THAT is the host’s “prerogative"! Kitchen can’t be used by guests, breakfast - nothing special, with few things available, small quantities, 30 minutes to help yourself while others are waiting in line behind you AND eat!!! The host stares at you all along, and makes you uncomfortable while you eat or pick up food as it's time to leave as per her rules! We didn't feel comfortable nor welcome!

Une nuit passee en hors saison qui a permis d'avoir la salle de bain commune quasi privative. L'accueil est sympa. Les chambres sont très propre. Le petit dejeuner est simple mais bon. Par contre la propriétaire n'a pas ete ravie de laisser la cuisine a disposition pour que l'on se fasse a manger contrairement a ce qui etait indiqué. Elle nous a finalement autorisé a utiliser juste le micro-ondes.

Kálfafellsstaður Guesthouse is a quaint, quiet B&B about 20 minutes NE of Diamond Beach. The property is clean and picturesque. Thora's breakfast was delicious and diverse. There's a sweet church next door and a cemetery that produced some lovely photos. She has a no shoes inside policy. No problem, but I would have brought slippers if I'd known. The room is small and it is a shared bathroom, but when we really needed to go and another guest was in there, Thora said we could use another one downstairs. The only other downside was not the property itself. It is a long way from restaurants and they close early compared to the U.S. Even the 24-hour gas station stores were closed. So if you stay here, I'd bring some energy bars or frozen dinners and put them in the downstairs fridge just in case you can't find a place that's open. It actually might not be a bad thing if she sold something like that for people who weren't about to pick up dinner. Overall a lovely place to stay. I would definitely stay there again if I have an opportunity to go back to Iceland.

The room was cozy, comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious, BUT they have a lot of rules that we didn't like, for example complete silence and you can't shower after a certain hour (we arrived after a long hiking day and had to sleep dirty) plus they only have one shower and one restroom for the whole floor. Wifi was weak and didn't work in some rooms.

This guesthouse was amazing. The shared bathroom was kept immaculate all the time. Beds were very comfy. Nice to have a sink in the room. Thora was a very welcoming host and her homemade jams at breakfast were super tasty. Very comfortable. Perfect location off the ring road very near the National park and glacier lagoons. Very pleased with our stay.

Sehr schönes Zimmer mit bequemen Betten. Das Gemeinschaftsbad war immer sauber. Das Frühstück sehr lecker. Alles was man braucht - Brot, flakes, porridge, Waffeln, Kaffee, Tee, Käse usw. Die Gastgeberin ist super nett und bekommt von uns 5 Sterne plus. Die Unterkunft ist zu empfehlen. Wir waren zwei Nächte hier.

We enjoyed our stay very much! The host Thora is extremely nice and accommodating. Check in was easy, Thora met us and provided all necessary information. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very clean. Although there are shared bathrooms they were very clean and there is a sink in the room. She made an amazing breakfast with homemade jams. The property is beautiful.

The hostess was very helpful and amiable. She provided a modest breakfast in the morning that was very well done. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. We appreciated that the washroom and shower were separate from each other. Both were very modern and bright. Access to the kitchen area to chill out (both in the evening and in the morning) was very nice. The guest house was situated on beautiful grounds which was the site of a former church. Negatives? None. Would definitely stay here again!

This was a room only, shared bathroom and kitchen stop for us. The lady owner waited for us to arrive up to a late hour, and prepared sandwiches for us to leave before breakfast, thank you. The room for 3 was on a really small side, but for 1 night was ok for us. The room was clean and has a small sink, which is a bonus. The location is off the main road about 15 min or so, is quiet and peaceful.

The host was so kind and attentive. The view from the bedroom window was brilliant. In the heart of the Icelandic countryside. Incredibly we were certain we even saw an arctic fox from the window although I was not quick enough in getting my 'phone to photograph it (and prove it !). The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent.

The hostess was very helpful and amiable. She provided a modest breakfast in the morning that was very well done. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. We appreciated that the washroom and shower were separate from each other. Both were very modern and bright. Access to the kitchen area to chill out (both in the evening and in the morning) was very nice. The guest house was situated on beautiful grounds which was the site of a former church. Negatives? This guesthouse was amazing. The shared bathroom was kept immaculate all the time. Beds were very comfy. Nice to have a sink in the room. Thora was a very welcoming host and her homemade jams at breakfast were super tasty. Very comfortable. Perfect location off the ring road very near the National park and glacier lagoons. Very pleased with our stay.

Beautiful room in a former rectory beside a tiny church. Gorgeous setting in the middle of nowhere. I wish we’d had more time there. About 20 min drive from the glacier lagoon and diamond beach. I’d highly recommend the kayaking on the lagoon. Make sure the tank is full because the nearest petrol station is a long way away.

This was a room only, shared bathroom and kitchen stop for us. The lady owner waited for us to arrive up to a late hour, and prepared sandwiches for us to leave before breakfast, thank you. The room for 3 was on a really small side, but for 1 night was ok for us. The room was clean and has a small sink, which is a bonus. The location is off the main road about 15 min or so, is quiet and peaceful.

I loved how peaceful this property is. There is an old church and cemetery and the mountain rise up behind the lodging. There are a few good restaurants within 10 mins. The host made a yummy breakfast.

Kálfafellsstaður Guesthouse is a quaint, quiet B&B about 20 minutes NE of Diamond Beach. The property is clean and picturesque. Thora's breakfast was delicious and diverse. There's a sweet church next door and a cemetery that produced some lovely photos. She has a no shoes inside policy. No problem, but I would have brought slippers if I'd known. The room is small and it is a shared bathroom, but when we really needed to go and another guest was in there, Thora said we could use another one downstairs. The only other downside was not the property itself. It is a long way from restaurants and they close early compared to the U.S. Even the 24-hour gas station stores were closed. So if you stay here, I'd bring some energy bars or frozen dinners and put them in the downstairs fridge just in case you can't find a place that's open. It actually might not be a bad thing if she sold something like that for people who weren't about to pick up dinner. Overall a lovely place to stay. I would definitely stay there again if I have an opportunity to go back to Iceland.

Kind manager who provided a lovely breakfast. The heart waffles were delicious! The number of washrooms at times could be a little annoying, but having a sink in the room was such a help that it was quite bearable.

The host was so kind and attentive. The view from the bedroom window was brilliant. In the heart of the Icelandic countryside. Incredibly we were certain we even saw an arctic fox from the window although I was not quick enough in getting my 'phone to photograph it (and prove it !). The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent.

Sehr schönes Zimmer mit bequemen Betten. Das Gemeinschaftsbad war immer sauber. Das Frühstück sehr lecker. Alles was man braucht - Brot, flakes, porridge, Waffeln, Kaffee, Tee, Käse usw. Die Gastgeberin ist super nett und bekommt von uns 5 Sterne plus. Die Unterkunft ist zu empfehlen. Wir waren zwei Nächte hier.

A lovely, relaxing place to stay in a beautiful pastoral setting located just 20 minutes from the ice lagoon - in my opinion the most beautiful spot in Iceland! Our room was very clean, bright and spacious with great views. Our hostess was helpful and offered freshly baked cookies to all. The exterior is not imposing but the inside is well appointed and kitchen facilities good. The bathrooms also were clean and well appointed. I would recommend it to anyone not looking for ultra-modern accommodation!
