The hotel exceeded expectations. The rooms were large, service was excellent and we really enjoyed the views from the rooftop bar. Dinner at the Ovu restaurant was the best we’ve had since we’ve been to Portugal. Highly recommend!

Excellent Hotel. Very friendly staff. Very easy access to downtown. Took us 10 minutes to walk to downtown cable car site. If you need any supermarket items, the mall is right downstairs and there is a nice supermarket there also. There is filtered water on every floor in a machine.The breakfast is also excellent. Great coffee machine, selection of fruits and cheeses and breads, as well as numerous hot entrees. Also, very big plus was we rented a car and used the free parking in the downstairs garage. You need to go to the private parking lot, which is next to the mall pkg lot entrance.

Overall, very good experience. The hotel was in a great location to get about and explore all of old Funchal by foot And access taxis and public transport and cable cars for any other trips. It was located inside on the edge of a large shopping mall, which was very convenient if you wanted to pick up any bits and pieces. The cons: I found the lighting in the rooms very dark and not very functional. There was a slight issue with the cleaning of the bathrooms. I was grateful for the attentive staff at the front desk who looked at all my concerns and addressed each one and extra things like kettles and coat hangers et cetera were provided on request. Overall, a little bit dated in decor, i.e. stuck in the noughties and sometimes a little noisy because of its location but that’s a choice you make for city hotel Convenience. No Jim and it was not advertised so I had to go looking for somewhere to use for my stay. Very small pool area area upstairs on the rooftop not very functional. Pros: Great hotel staff, very attentive. Good choice of breakfast for an inner city hotel. Was offered a complimentary upgrade. Concierge were very helpful. I needed a gym due to the above situation for which I paid €25 for a weeks membership of a fantastic gym only five minutes walk from the hotel. Overall, I would recommend the hotel for value, convenience

Truly Impressive Stay! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning architecture — the design is both elegant and inviting. Das Hotel ist einfach der Hammer, das Personal äußerst freundlich, zuvorkommend und professionell, die Sauberkeit des Zimmers/Hotels makellos, die Lage (im Zentrum) perfekt! Leider (vielleicht nur unseres) war das Zimmer nicht sehr ruhig gelegen (Straßenverkehr, Passanten), jedoch kann man dies mit Ohropax ausblenden 😉 The Vine Hotel erfüllt alle Anforderungen für einen rundum gelungenen und entspannenden Urlaub! Wir kommen definitiv wieder und können bzw. möchten das Hotel auf jeden Fall uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen! Vielen herzlichen Dank! Marco und Steve

Très bel hôtel moderne. Situation surprenante au dessus d'un centre commercial. Petit déjeuner extra buffet magnifique. Très belle decoration. Seul bémol une odeur d'égout dans la salle de bain, déclarée mais pas réglée.

Die Lage des Hotels ist super! In der Nähe der Altstadt und des Hafens, alles ist fußläufig zu erreichen. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und gemütlich, modern und sauber. Das Frühstücksbuffet ließ keine Wünsche offen. Ich würde dieses Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen.

This is a very beautiful hotel but I’m afraid some aspects of the design (which has won multiple international awards) is a triumph of modern design over practicality. Our suite had an open plan bathroom with a bath in the middle of it with the bed behind separated by a glass screen. The space in the suite, what a very comfortable queen sized bed and large windows on 2 sides, was nonetheless poorly used. There was no sofa, but a very strange chair squeezed into the corner of the room. The location of the electric sockets was bizarre. The only way to use the coffee maker and kettle was by using a dusty extension lead that I found stuffed down the end of the bed. That said we had a good time.

Beautiful large room, excellent breakfast, excellent location, gréat comfort. The only discomfort was noise from the room next door through a connecting door, but at night this was easily solved by earplugs.

As mentioned tovthe staff, ooms seem to be missing a light or two; they seem dark. I was told that was done by the designer. Seems odd especially with purplish colors on the wall. Also, the doors to the room close very slowly. Sunce my flight was later in the day, I did like that i could use the amenities and parking after my check out. Finally, i forgot to take a picture / mention to the staff, but there is some wall covering missing on the upper part of the wall in the bathroom. You can see the electrical when laying in the bed.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were always excellent. We particularly enjoyed visiting the rooftop (terrace) bar, especially during its "happy hour"! Mixed feelings about our room. Although undoubtedly stylish, it was surprisingly dark and we thoroughly disliked the needlessly complex lighting controls. We would also have preferred a more complete separation of "private" facilities (toilet and shower) from the other living quarters.

Great location close to Old Town, dining options, shopping and taxi stand. The property is modern and hip, but a bit dark in common areas. Some say this is relaxing and it is, but I prefer a bit more illumination. We has a Junior Suite and although spacious there was no table to eat or play cards and the bathroom sink had no space for our toiletries.

Sehr freundliches und hilfreiches Personal. Tolles Frühstück, super Lage des Hotels. Kostenlose Parkplätze in der Tiefgarage. Was uns nicht gefiel: Design war wichtiger als Funktion. Hotel is very stylish and modern, with a central location for coastline, bars and restaurants. The rooftop bar and pool has fantastic views over the area. All areas of the hotel are spotless. We didn't use the spa, so no comments on that. Breakfast was great, lots of choice, both hot and cold. Room was nice, but (small gripe)would have liked bedside tables and charging points there. The Lobby bar closes at 11pm, which I feel is quite early. We arrived at 10.30 one evening, after a meal in town and bar was closed. We were told we could get a drink on the roof, but as we got up there, that was readying to close. (Thank you Jorge for serving us a nightcap!) Worth noting that there were major buildings works happening very close to the property, which began early and were quite noisy. All in all, we had a pleasant stay at The Vine.

We always stay at The Vine on our frequent visits to Funchal. The location is unbeatable, as are the staff. They even managed to get me a dental appointment within 4 hours of arriving at the hotel check in. The hotel is modern, clean and in easy walking distance of everything in the centre and the old town.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff made us feel welcome and were always very friendly and efficient. The hotel is small enough for everything to feel quite personal and it is in a great location just on the edge of the old town, making it an easy walk to get around without the need for buses and taxis, unless you want to go further afield. The room was spacious and well appointed with possibly one of the largest beds I have encountered in a hotel. Great walk in shower and a good sized bath too. Breakfast was excellent, with an extensive selection to choose from, including fresh fruit, cereals, cheeses and cold meats, pastries, different breads and also a good range of cooked options. The whole experience made our stay in Funchal memorable

The staff were super nice and helpful. They even packed breakfast for us because our flight was leaving really early. The location is optimal if you want to stay in the Old Town. Nice shops and restaurants were within walking distance. Having a mall at the ground floor was a plus for late snacks and food.

Thankfully I found the hotel parking and a very friendly hotel staff met me in the car park to help with luggage. That was very thoughtful as it is tricky to find your way to the hotel lift and across a courtyard to the hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable. Wasn't a big fan of the lava pebble floor in the bathroom area...hard on the feet. The breakfast options and food was amazing. Very friendly morning staff. The only disappointment was the rooftop pool was closed - they gave a very limited voucher for a drink. I had a massage at the spa on a day it rained. The spa staff were not very friendly - the massage was just ok. The therapist had no personality and seemed to be just going through the motions until her time was up. The spa does not meet a 5 star hotel standard. The location is fantastic for walking to get anywhere for food, drinks, shopping, tours. Did not dine at the rooftop restaurant.

Incredible hotel with amazing staff who were super helpful. Panoramic roof top pool, delicious breakfast, free parking for hotel residents which was very handy as we hired a car for a few days and could return to the hotel each night after a day trip. Charles, guest relations manager assisted us with an itinerary for touring the island- fantastic!!

Wow! Property is beautiful, but the service was incredible! The team there DEFINITELY deserves the previous awards they’ve won! I’ve only stayed at one other property in my entire 57 years that I would say might be comparable to the service we received at the Vine! It made our trip! THANK YOU!

One Major flaw. The Vine is ultra-modern and beautiful, is in a great location and has a great breakfast. But if you arrive late at night or leave early in the morning-- as flights do with Madeira-- it can be a nightmare. I emailed ahead that I would arrive late and I told them we had 3 suitcases from 5 weeks of travel and I had back surgery so needed help with bags. But when you arrive in pitch dark, there is nothing but I shuttered pitch black shopping mall. Somehow you are supposed to find a small garage alley in the back and then wind through unmarked halls to come to a desk with 1 person who can't leave to help get your bsgs up or down. I had flagged the issue the prior night and was told I would be helped but Rymuben insisted he could not leave the front desk. A great place that needs to staff correctly and instruct them.

I had a lovely stay at The Vine. Right from check in the staff were very pleasant and always helpful. The rooftop bar has a lovely view at night time so is a great place to relax. The rooms are big with plenty of storage space. The location is great as many attractions in Funchal are a walkable distance. The airport bus also drops you off right outside the shopping center which contains the lifts to enter to hotel. The shopping center also has a supermarket in the basement which is handy for any essentials.

Excellent Hotel. Very friendly staff. Very easy access to downtown. Took us 10 minutes to walk to downtown cable car site. If you need any supermarket items, the mall is right downstairs and there is a nice supermarket there also. There is filtered water on every floor in a machine.The breakfast is also excellent. Great coffee machine, selection of fruits and cheeses and breads, as well as numerous hot entrees. Also, very big plus was we rented a car and used the free parking in the downstairs garage. You need to go to the private parking lot, which is next to the mall pkg lot entrance.

Jacuzzi and sauna room could use some love as well. The overall look of the interior is dark. Considering the low ceilings, it does not help. The entrance of the hotel is through the mall and the parking is good to have but prepare to go through a maze to get to the front desk. Just follow the signs and you should be ok. Rooftop bar, pool and patio are very nice. Very good views.

I loved the rooftop bar which has spectacular views over Funchal and a great selection of drinks and light meals. Happy Hour was always a favourite!. The UVA restaurant is well worth a visit and offers a good price/quality ratio. The staff are efficient, cheerful and friendly. I have no real downers - may be the turn down service was earlier than expected but I'm nitpicking here.

The hotel exceeded expectations. The rooms were large, service was excellent and we really enjoyed the views from the rooftop bar. Dinner at the Ovu restaurant was the best we’ve had since we’ve been to Portugal. Highly recommend!

Great stay - fantastic location with lots around. A very large selection available for breakfast each morning, we are both Vegan and they went out of their way to prepare us something. Service from checking in was outstanding, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately our return flight with easyJet was cancelled, we phoned the hotel who booked us a new room for the extra nights and helps arrange transport. Highly recommend staying here if visiting Funchal.
