Room very good Very comfortable Food and service in restaurant good Value for money Only disappointment the bar ran out of Botter and IPA early evening on the quiz night! Disappointing as hotel owned by a brewery! Otherwise all good, with plenty of parking. Very pleasant staff.

Free parking, so big that local vintage car club used it as meeting point. Enjoyed the duck for dinner and cooked breakfast in the morning. Room was bigger than expected, clean and quiet. Some parts looked like they needed redecorating but it is an old coaching inn. Only ten minutes from Dyrham Park.

Ideal property to stay at when attending an event at Westonbirt Artobortum. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Plenty of parking and is on a quiet location where you can sit back and relax in the garden. Will definitely bexreturning

I recently had the pleasure of staying at an incredible 700-year-old coach house turned inn, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. One of the highlights of my stay was the warm and engaging staff, who went above and beyond to share fascinating stories about the building’s rich history, adding a wonderful layer of depth to my visit. Despite the age of the building, the water pressure in the bathroom was impressively strong, ensuring comfort without compromise. The single-pane, slightly drafty windows only added to the authentic feel, enhancing the old-world charm and making my stay feel like a step back in time, in the best way possible. Overall, this inn is a perfect blend of history, comfort, and hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive and memorable experience that combines the beauty of the past with modern comforts.

Parking a dream, doors to the rooms could be a little easier to closer rather than waking the entire hall way. Meals were excellent, nice and warm

We had a lovely 3 night stay with friendly helpful staff. Hot breakfast was cooked individually to order and would swap things around to suit you. I had read about slow service but if you aren't in a rush the pace is relaxed. Nice old building but good modern bathroom. The only downside was wanting to sit outside as there was not a handle to get back in and some people kept shutting the door tight.

Good food, and friendly staff. Single room was OK although wasn’t keen on the broken window latch for a ground floor room… Plenty of parking and easy to get to, just 15 mins from Bristol..

I've stayed here numerous times over the 13 years,seen a lot of changes. Ive never really had a bad experience. A massive carpark and it's free to use Always a quick check-in and information given . Most rooms are a good size except for the single room Shower rooms are on the compact size though Beds are super comfortable WiFi has improved and is good Showers ate Always hot and powerful. Breakfast not always included but could add if wanted. Evening meals are good and good vaule Though the menu seems to be getting smaller! Location is next to a busy junction with nothing else close by but some lovely walks would stay again when in the area

Being an old building it has plenty of character throughout. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Its is close to a main road junction and has easy access to the M4, although it was close to the main road, you don't hear the traffic noise from the rooms. It has plenty of car parking. Food is freshly cooked and very good with plenty of different options to choose from. Good choice of drinks (including draught) to choose from. Staff are also very helpful.

Smelly pub, russian roulette with the rooms (some nice, others loud and dirty) footsteps heard above and pub noise below… ideal for a contractor but even then too pricey

I was avaged by bed bugs and offered another room which was the same. I had very little sleep. Told to speak to the manager in the morning. Went to reception to be told by duty manager there was no manager on duty. Then one appeared. House keeping told me I looked like I had an allergic reaction. I have no allergies. I felt like I was being ushered out the door. To be fair the assistant manager was trying but DM and housekeeper spoke over him and myself until I insisited they listen. No report filled in and when I said they said they would do it. There was no re assutrance that this would be dealt with at all. I stayed two weeks ago and it was ok but this was awful

Lovely staff and a clean room however it felt very dated, the furniture and decor in our room were very dark for the room and dated. The bathroom looked lovely and recently redone but the shower hose was gold which didn’t match the silver fittings and was also degrading.

Beautiful old building, very clean. Paul the manager and his team were excellent. The food was lovely. Will definitely be returning 👍

Very clean and tidy food superb. One beer can and mouse bate box in my room which i did not appreciate. I would stay again.

We checked in and they insisted we pay before we see the room, we now know why. Dirty, unclean rooms, marked tea cups. Bathroom door did not shut nor did shower cubical, door off runners. Noisy and had a musty smell. We nearly didnt stay but were 3 hrs away from home

All staff couldn’t do enough, they were excellent however they need more of them. Hotel is very dated now and need updating, room wasn’t very clean, marks on curtains, windows and some of the walls on the room, water taps are very loud on the room, the room next door used theirs in the middle of the night and woke me up.

Great staff, early check in, comfortable bed, very clean room.

RUN DOWN WANTS SOME T.L.C.windows do not open broken rope bathroom tap drips toilet seat moves,bathroom door catch needs repairing,chair want repairing arms torn at the edges and leavesinsides on the floor the bedroom therefore needed cleaning lots of mess on the floor.It is a wonderful hotel but a little run down it is in the ideal site for us very convenient.

If you’re a light sleeper don’t try this hotel.. Creeking floor boards, thin walls and noisy banging doors will keep you awake. Tired chain hotel with average rooms, dripping taps and broken shower hose. Nice location though…

Room was in need of redecoration and old single glazed windows were in poor condition.Beds were comfortable and it was very quiet.

Looks worn out and sad. Very noisy, everything creaked and groaned. Could hear people above and both sides. When someone had a shower sounded like they were in the room with you magnified 10 times. Someone had tv/ radio on from the time I arrived until 11.30 pm, very irritating. Bed very comfortable. For a single room bathroom was a decent size. Breakfast, continental, was really good. Staff polite and very helpful.

Lovely quiet area with ample parking. Hotel room and furnishings can be updated but the water pressure was excellent.

Just a great, authentic British Pub Inn with delicious food and great service both in the restaurant and the Inn. Staff were a delight. Rooms were spacious and well equipped. Beds were comfy!

Superb staff make you feel very welcome from the minute you arrive and go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable and happy. My room lacked any drawers but made up for it with a huge shower and bath. The bed and pillows of good standard and the CH was excellent.

The worst stay in a hotel I have ever experienced. Road noise, banging doors and un-helpful, arrogant staff.

I took my mum for a two day break and she unfortunately got heatstroke and wasn’t feeling well. The staff (in particular the two Donna’s) were so lovely and caring.

Pub with rooms looking tired and in need of a re-furb. Staff friendly. Breakfast was lovely despite a 45 minute wait, and not overly busy.

It was a most enjoyable 4 days. Staff most helpful and friendly. Would recommend the hotel: good all round.

We have been to this hotel several times but it is starting to get tired. Staff were friendly but very busy - less around than previous visits. Our room had no electricity initially but this was quickly sorted. Then we had not hot water so cold / no shower before dinner. We heard later was the whole hotel. Again this was sorted overnight so could have shower next morning.

Nice historical property with warm cozy atmosphere. There was an issue the evening we dined and our order didn't make it to the kitchen. Great effort was made to expedite our order and recompense the situation which we appreciated. Food quality was very good.

Personable staff-charming and attentive to all our needs. We had everything we needed in our stop walking the Cotswold Way. We had 13 different hotels along the way and with this one it was the staff that made it a great stay.

The staff at cross hands were so accommodating towards my needs this trip. I was attending a wedding that started at 12 and they allowed me to pick up my key on the understanding my room was not yet prepared and so didnt have access so I didnt have to return to check in. A small gesture that was a great help and allowed me to enjoy the day. The room was simple but spacious and came with a fan to help keep cool on a humid night.

I had a pleasant stay. I did have some road noise as my room was by the road, but always carry earplugs nice stuff and good food.

Very nice place, food was very good and the place was ideal location, as we were watching a concert at the Westonbirt Arbouretum. Definately stay here again.

Easy to get to off M4 Motorway. Lovely part of the country and very quiet location.

This was a country pub and hotel, easy to find 15 minutes from Bath…very comfortable and not a standard chain hotel, very much the Country Inn that we wanted

Brilliant location for touring round the area. Disastrous that for several days there were no eggs for breakfast.

Pros: staff were friendly, the hotel was lovely, bedroom was old but it had a great feel, bathroom was clean tidy and everything in the room that you needed was there. The grounds of the hotel was picturess and beautiful, the building itself was beautiful and an old coach house Negative: The food unfortunately was a major let down!! The steak was well over done even thou we requested medium, the mac & cheese had been pre cooked and warmed up in microwave and not eatable. The starter chicken strips was fine but there was no dips, no side garnish, just a bowl of chicken. The squid had no taste, and was very little in the bowl, there was more garnish then anything else The pudding was ok it was eatable but not worth the money
