Rooms where pretty good, restaurants needed to be booked well in advance and where average The all day buffet was sub par. On-site amenities like the spa was great but quite expensive. Property, staff and nightly shows where all fantastic not too mention the beach. No shuttle to and from the resort was kind of annoying.

The resort is beautiful as is the scenery. The staff is very friendly and professional and do all they can to help. Checkout was easy! Transportation to airport was great! Only bad thing is I think they could clean the adult pool better.

Property is beautiful as you drive in and enter the resort. There are several pools to use. We opted in for the adult’s side and that had the smallest and worst pool. No swim up bar and no one walking around offering drinks. If you were a member there was a small separate pool and staff was catering to them. There were food options around the pool areas but it was an open air buffet so the food was open to all the elements and bugs and what not floating around, not even covered.The rooms were old and we had zero water pressure in the shower, I mean it was a literal trickle. Food was not mediocre. We stayed at the Sandos in Cabo and it was a completely different experience. We ended up leaving this resort and booking else where.

Stayed in one of the adult buildings, that over looked the family section of the beach so while the ocean view was wonderful, afternoons were noisey due to the activities and music on the beach. We spent time at the adult only pool which was very nice. Activities started around noon, some fun games and some wilder pool parties. Definitely a rowdier scene than we expected from an adult only section. Down the far end of the adult beach area you could get away from the music and microphones to hear the waves. The a la cart Italian and Mexican restaurants were fabulous. The steakhouse was awful, sorry to say. Breakfast at the Beach Snack was adults only and so lovely - thank you Samuel for the good care there. Same location was really nice for lunch by the big main pool - open air with big ceiling fans and a reasonable selection of food items. We avoided the main buffet as I got food poisoning there on our third day. We did eat there for some dinners, and while the selection of food is insanely huge, we can’t report that it was very GOOD. I wonder about how much food wastage there is? I wish they had focused on 3-4 themed sections each night, and produce quality meals. I see that they are making an effort to cater to any and all tastes but it’s just too much!! The rooms are simple and comfortable. Beds wonderful - great sleeps. Bar staff cheerful and attentive. The resort is amazingly maintained, with natural gardens. Pools clean. Beach swimmable and lovely.

Love the beach and gardens around the property. Disappointed that top shelf alcohol is not top shelf! They don't provide bottled water. Family pool washroom had no toilet seat in men’s wash room. We had to walk about10 min to reserve a volley ball for pool and could omly have it for one hour. Reservations for several restaurants were not available. Food was a hit or a miss! The hotel store is very high priced and you can walk out the resort to a market for the same items. Evening shows targeted at children don't start until 9:00 pm. Not much pool side entertainment. Many resorts offer dance lessons, language lessons etc. not Sandos! The beach bbq was a hit and family section pool had better service than the adult only. the adult only pool only had one bartender and every drink you were waiting in line. The spa now charges for hydro therapy pool which is just a sauna and jetted water. The rooms are outdated and a/c barely works. Patio doors are a challenge to open and no screens. housekeepers were terrific and accommodating!

When we arrived on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, the staff neglected to tell us that the Grand Buffet was closed. We found out the next day that it was due to at least 50 people who got sick from Canada there for a wedding. You can look this up in the Playa del Carmen News. We were as well as everyone else, without water in our shower, sink, and toilet for the whole weekend and no communication from staff as to why. The Grand Buffet did not reopen until Tuesday evening but we were afraid to eat there so went off the property to eat. Our mini fridge was never restocked and this was after 6-7 phone calls a day to guest services. The elevator in our building was out of order. The service outside was terrible . We sat by the pool for 5 hours one day and the waitress came to take our order once. They were not telling new people registering that the water was not working and the Grand Buffet was closed. We have tried to get a partial refund but have had no luck. We will never go back.

Location is excellent, beach is excellent, food was good, alcohol and coffee was terrible except one bar, room outdated but clean and comfortable, shower outdated and very slow, but clean. Overall liked and will come back another year.

We love the beach that’s the main part for us. Food was normal similar to other hotels. But rooms old needs to be remodeled very old rooms. Our refrigerator was leaking water on the floor. Stairs and hall way to the room always was dirty.

Very nice clean beach at this clean and spacious resort. The room was clean . The food was good and the service was great. Quiet for us which is what we like and entertainment every evening. Appreciated the drinking water in room.

Very clean, friendly staff, huge buffet and great food. Beach area super nice. Only thing I wouldn’t give 5 stars is because the pool close very early and theres no bar/bar waitress around after 6pm in the pool and beach area. Which makes the area very boring. Also keep in mind in the summer (busy season) the restaurants are all reserved 3/4 days ahead. So if you don’t reserve them your only option would be the buffet (great food).

My husband and I have stayed at Sandos several times over the years since 2007, sometimes twice/year & this was by far the most disappointing. We booked 2 rooms each with a king bed. At check-in we were told the rooms we booked were not available. The (kid) behind the counter said they only had 2 rooms with double beds. My husband showed him our booking details & itinerary, but he said it "didn\'t matter", that they don\'t have those rooms available and if we wanted, we could try to find rooms with king beds somewhere that could accommodate the four of us! Are you kidding me?! We booked and paid for these rooms for 8 nights - which he obviously knew. He looked at us, smirked and asked if we wanted to take what they had. Obviously, we were tired and not in the mood for his game, so we took "what they had". When we got to our rooms we were "hit" with the most disgusting smell of mold and sewer. I immediately felt sick. There was black mold all around the bathroom & the shower door, floor, corners and ceiling; paint & caulking were peeling; the sliding glass door was disgusting with dirt, mold and something else I couldn\'t define. I didn\'t want to touch anything or be in there any longer than I had to. There is much more disappointing information to share but I am running out of character space. All I MUST say is DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Daytime entertainment was raunchy, food was ok. Staff rude

Stayed at this property 3 years ago and staff, facility, and dining was all just as listed on the site. This year nothing was true as far as the information available. The room went days without being cleaned. Upgraded domestic drinks were not available. For that matter, beer in cans, you had to practically beg for. One bar that served near the pool made me very uncomfortable to even go to. I went at one time and they told me they were closed, yet kept serving other guests. I was not out of control or being impolite so I am not sure where that attitude was coming from. The bartenders would laugh when I would try to order. Would try to tip as much as possible and was told on numerous occasions that the tip was not enough. In my opinion, any tip is better than none. Was very disappointed in this vacation when compared to my previous experience at this same resort. The beach was beautiful just as it was before but I felt like we were on continuous watch my the facility security patrol. They were continously on people for smoking and bringing their kids to the adult only beach, but would allow complete strangers selling on the private beach that they didn't even know. With men in army uniform patrolling the beach with AK 47s I wasn't feeling to safe at this point either. The grounds on Sandos is way overgrown and not maintained as neat as it was the first time. No lighting in the walkways at night to feel safe even walking around the grounds. The family section and the.....

I see that they are making an effort to cater to any and all tastes but it’s just too much!! The rooms are simple and comfortable. Beds wonderful - great sleeps. Bar staff cheerful and attentive. The resort is amazingly maintained, with natural gardens. Pools clean. Beach swimmable and lovely.
Stayed in one of the adult buildings, that over looked the family section of the beach so while the ocean view was wonderful, afternoons were noisey due to the activities and music on the beach. We spent time at the adult only pool which was very nice. Activities started around noon, some fun games and some wilder pool parties. Definitely a rowdier scene than we expected from an adult only section. Down the far end of the adult beach area you could get away from the music and microphones to hear the waves. The a la cart Italian and Mexican restaurants were fabulous. The steakhouse was awful, sorry to say. Breakfast at the Beach Snack was adults only and so lovely - thank you Samuel for the good care there. Same location was really nice for lunch by the big main pool - open air with big ceiling fans and a reasonable selection of food items. We avoided the main buffet as I got food poisoning there on our third day. We did eat there for some dinners, and while the selection of food is insanely huge, we can’t report that it was very GOOD. I wonder about how much food wastage there is? I wish they had focused on 3-4 themed sections each night, and produce quality meals. Property fantastic! Room maintenance over the years has been a bit sloppy but the room was very clean with a fantastic view. Dining was fantastic as well and it's hard to imagine a more beautiful beach. Staff was very accommodating and friendly and while seemed very appreciative of tips did not treat us any differenly on occasions that we forgot to bring cash for tip. Drinks were fantastic as well. The only real negatives were non working elevators for the duration of our syay in our building(2000 building) and smoking outside of the designated smoking areas was not enforced at all including the resort owned beach area. Being as we are both very sensitive to the smell and the dirtiness of using the sand as an ashtray this was upsetting.

The rooms really needs to refreshing. When I arrived to my room after checking in i noticed the handle to my first floor patio door was broken. The door could not be locked when left me feeling unsecure. When I called to the front desk I was told maintanence would arrive within 30 minutes to fix the door. Two hours later and after noone arrived I was had to walk back to main lobby to speak to a manager Luis who was great to deal with about the issue. He had someone to the room within the 30 minutes of speaking with me. They did not replace the handle, all they did was find a screw that would fit for the handle that would at least allow it to lock. Also there was an issue with the electrical breaker panel in the room. Something in the room caused the breaker to trip and would not reset. Again I called to get maintanence to the room to take care of the issue. It took them 45 minutes to get to the room but i had to leave while they were checking out the issue becasue of dinner reservations I made off the resort. Thankfully that was corrected when I returned. Due to these issues i request a change of room. The room i changed to was a second floor room but also had the patio handle broken. The food on the resort was quite bad especially the buffet. Luckily there was an omelett making station at the breakfast buffet in the lobby building for breakfast but I was to go off the resort for every other meal. We paid for an adults only area but it certainly was not an adults only area.

The good: the beach is one of the best in this side of Mexico. Staff are great. Wildlife all over. Great coffee bar and taco shop. Lush grounds. The bad: all adult side rooms have a shared interior door with neighbour. Can hear all coughs, conversations, tv, and things left to your imagination. A/C is old and weak. Loud as heck too. Asked for a quiet room for 40th anniversary. Got a patio at the main garbage. Literally on the same level no break, walk out to the garbage. When we were funneled to the reception 'not time share' desk we were told we were upgraded. Literally a normal standard room, why lie? The terrible: 3 of the 4 of us got food poisoning. We have lived in Africa and Asia, been all over Mexico. We don't have weak stomachs. One person twice. A wedding party with 60 people, 40 the same. I think it was the water jug water or the main buffet. People kept coming to reception complaining about being sick.

I loved the staff. Cici at the pool. April, Alan Alex Carlos. I hated that we were in adult only and there were SO MANY KIDS. I feel that they need to section areas in the buffet for adult only. The a la carte restaurants should either have adult only times or ones for adults only. When you book adults you should get it. The smell/perfume In the resort lobby needs to be toned way down. You get a headache as soon as you walk in. The check in checkout was difficult. Lined up for checkout because we were in a transport time frame only to be told that they were checking people in ( nobody available to check out) the spa people walking around were too aggressive. Counted in one day I got asked ten different times if I wanted a massage. I would not rush back.

My husband and I have stayed at Sandos several times over the years since 2007, sometimes twice/year & this was by far the most disappointing. We booked 2 rooms each with a king bed. At check-in we were told the rooms we booked were not available. The (kid) behind the counter said they only had 2 rooms with double beds. My husband showed him our booking details & itinerary, but he said it "didn\'t matter", that they don\'t have those rooms available and if we wanted, we could try to find rooms with king beds somewhere that could accommodate the four of us! Are you kidding me?! We booked and paid for these rooms for 8 nights - which he obviously knew. He looked at us, smirked and asked if we wanted to take what they had. Obviously, we were tired and not in the mood for his game, so we took "what they had". When we got to our rooms we were "hit" with the most disgusting smell of mold and sewer. I immediately felt sick. There was black mold all around the bathroom & the shower door, floor, corners and ceiling; paint & caulking were peeling; the sliding glass door was disgusting with dirt, mold and something else I couldn\'t define. I didn\'t want to touch anything or be in there any longer than I had to. There is much more disappointing information to share but I am running out of character space. All I MUST say is DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Daytime entertainment was raunchy, food was ok. Staff rude

Every staff member I encountered from the front desk to shuttle drivers to bar/restaurant staff to cleaning crew were beyond helpful and pleasant to deal with. When we arrived on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, the staff neglected to tell us that the Grand Buffet was closed. We found out the next day that it was due to at least 50 people who got sick from Canada there for a wedding. You can look this up in the Playa del Carmen News. We were as well as everyone else, without water in our shower, sink, and toilet for the whole weekend and no communication from staff as to why. The Grand Buffet did not reopen until Tuesday evening but we were afraid to eat there so went off the property to eat. Our mini fridge was never restocked and this was after 6-7 phone calls a day to guest services. The elevator in our building was out of order. The service outside was terrible . We sat by the pool for 5 hours one day and the waitress came to take our order once. They were not telling new people registering that the water was not working and the Grand Buffet was closed. We have tried to get a partial refund but have had no luck. We will never go back.

Stayed at this property 3 years ago and staff, facility, and dining was all just as listed on the site. This year nothing was true as far as the information available. The room went days without being cleaned. Upgraded domestic drinks were not available. For that matter, beer in cans, you had to practically beg for. One bar that served near the pool made me very uncomfortable to even go to. I went at one time and they told me they were closed, yet kept serving other guests. I was not out of control or being impolite so I am not sure where that attitude was coming from. The bartenders would laugh when I would try to order. Would try to tip as much as possible and was told on numerous occasions that the tip was not enough. In my opinion, any tip is better than none. Was very disappointed in this vacation when compared to my previous experience at this same resort. The beach was beautiful just as it was before but I felt like we were on continuous watch my the facility security patrol. They were continously on people for smoking and bringing their kids to the adult only beach, but would allow complete strangers selling on the private beach that they didn't even know. With men in army uniform patrolling the beach with AK 47s I wasn't feeling to safe at this point either. The grounds on Sandos is way overgrown and not maintained as neat as it was the first time. No lighting in the walkways at night to feel safe even walking around the grounds. The family section and the.....

All the staff were friendly. We've been there at least 10 times and noticed an improvement in staff. Our conceriege Samantha was especially helpful. She made reservations for all the restaurants when we checked in. She texted us during our stay to make certain all was good.

We spent a week at Sandos and everything went perfectly. Adults only part is close to the beach and other amenities. There is a golf cart transportation if you want to go around.

Location is excellent, beach is excellent, food was good, alcohol and coffee was terrible except one bar, room outdated but clean and comfortable, shower outdated and very slow, but clean. Overall liked and will come back another year.

This is a great motel for the price. It is clean, good restaurants, clean pools. You don’t have to fight for chairs. Our favorite restaurants were the Italian and the Asian. We were hesitant to go to the Asian, but liked it. The beach is wonderful. Very little seaweed. We have been to a number of hotels in Mexico over the last 25 years. This is a good motel and we will be back. Maria by the adults only pool is really helpful. Carlo made it fun with his activities by the pool.

We loved the foliage and stonework for the walking paths on the property. Highly recommend getting a beachfront room in the Adult Select area. The beach had open sand, shade from the many palm trees and plenty of lounge chairs. My husband likes to stay on the beach longer than I do, but I was able to relax on our balcony and still enjoy the beach sights and sounds from the balcony. We were also impressed with the quality of the nightly entertainment. Very happy that we selected this property!

We had a great time there. The property is large and not crowded, very well maintained, beautifully landscaped. We stayed in adults only area. It is very close to beach. Every room has a balcony or a patio. Beach area is not crowded. The family area with kids's waterpark is at the other side of the resort's beach.We did not go to restaurants even though the reservations were available. We were very happy with selection of food in buffet. And for the New year celebration they had a feast there.Perfect! thank you so much to the all hard working people of this resort.

We were very excited to go to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico with a great location. we arrived and day one looked promising, but then very quickly crashed to a unexpected catastrophe. 3 people got sick night 2 and was bed written for days, and that was just the start. we then proceeded to go to dinner but needed reservations everywhere besides the buffet which was awful. next say we had no water at all for (2) full days, then buffet was closed down and everything was very unpleasant. No waiters by the pool & long lines everywhere. We have been to multiple resorts and never had a bad Experience until now, although this one was a nightmare other than the beach and the staff which were amazing from day to day! They didn't comp us anything for the inconvenience and will not be going back to this resort EVER!!!

I love Sandos Playacar. This was our second trip here and both times have been great. The food is fantastic, the staff is cheerful and helpful. Everything was perfect. The level of effort and care the staff put into the reslrt is genuinely astonishing. 10/10.

Stayed in one of the adult buildings, that over looked the family section of the beach so while the ocean view was wonderful, afternoons were noisey due to the activities and music on the beach. We spent time at the adult only pool which was very nice. Activities started around noon, some fun games and some wilder pool parties. Definitely a rowdier scene than we expected from an adult only section. Down the far end of the adult beach area you could get away from the music and microphones to hear the waves. The a la cart Italian and Mexican restaurants were fabulous. The steakhouse was awful, sorry to say. Breakfast at the Beach Snack was adults only and so lovely - thank you Samuel for the good care there. Same location was really nice for lunch by the big main pool - open air with big ceiling fans and a reasonable selection of food items. We avoided the main buffet as I got food poisoning there on our third day. We did eat there for some dinners, and while the selection of food is insanely huge, we can’t report that it was very GOOD. I wonder about how much food wastage there is? I wish they had focused on 3-4 themed sections each night, and produce quality meals. I see that they are making an effort to cater to any and all tastes but it’s just too much!! The rooms are simple and comfortable. Beds wonderful - great sleeps. Bar staff cheerful and attentive. The resort is amazingly maintained, with natural gardens. Pools clean. Beach swimmable and lovely.

Very clean, friendly staff, huge buffet and great food. Beach area super nice. Only thing I wouldn’t give 5 stars is because the pool close very early and theres no bar/bar waitress around after 6pm in the pool and beach area. Which makes the area very boring. Also keep in mind in the summer (busy season) the restaurants are all reserved 3/4 days ahead. So if you don’t reserve them your only option would be the buffet (great food).

Love the beach and gardens around the property. Disappointed that top shelf alcohol is not top shelf! They don't provide bottled water. Family pool washroom had no toilet seat in men’s wash room. We had to walk about10 min to reserve a volley ball for pool and could omly have it for one hour. Reservations for several restaurants were not available. Food was a hit or a miss! The hotel store is very high priced and you can walk out the resort to a market for the same items. Evening shows targeted at children don't start until 9:00 pm. Not much pool side entertainment. Many resorts offer dance lessons, language lessons etc. not Sandos! The beach bbq was a hit and family section pool had better service than the adult only. the adult only pool only had one bartender and every drink you were waiting in line. The spa now charges for hydro therapy pool which is just a sauna and jetted water. The rooms are outdated and a/c barely works. Patio doors are a challenge to open and no screens. housekeepers were terrific and accommodating!

Over 400 people got food poisoning including us the first day.We were very sick!Didn’t feel good the whole time.Didn’t have hot water till the day before we left.Didn’t have Any water for 2 days! The buffet was closed for 4 days.We ate saltines a lot because we were afraid to eat anywhere.Very disappointed!!!!Saved up money to go on this vacation and barely ate or drank anything the whole time. We feel that we should get our money back!!

So you have to make reservations to all the restaurants except the buffet which wouldn’t be an issue but there was no opening to any of the restaurants even though you go and see 15 plus tables open . You have to call a manger or guest service in order to get on the reservation I even tried to reserve a day ahead and no opening

This hotel is very dated and in need of modernisation, especially the rooms. Our first room was ground floor and the balcony sliding door wouldn’t lock. It was fixed with a couple of wood screws by maintenance. Looks like it had been done many times in the past. Night 2 at 3AM water started coming through the roof in the bathroom. ( not clean water either).Tried calling reception and guest services but no answer Called room service and eventually got through to someone and asked them to contact maintenance. Maintenance eventually came and couldn’t do anything and I was advised someone would call me at 8 am. Well guess what. No call. Tried calling room service and guest services and guess what. No answer. Had to go to the main reception which is a good 15 minutes walk away. Was told that we would have to move room and a new room would be ready in half an hour and go to guest services when we were packed up. Went to them and was then informed that their protocol was to issue new rooms after mid day. After requesting a manager I was told he wasn’t available. After about 30 minutes of refusing to accept that and explaining we had been awake since 3 am and we were very tired and in need of of a shower etc a room was issued to me. I was emptying the 2 buckets of water dripping through the ceiling every hour or so from 3AM. I realise this could happen anywhere but just getting hold of anyone at 3 AM was a nightmare. I would definitely not use Sandos hotel again.

Everything was perfect from check in where we were greeted by guest experience team Melisa,Mar,Majo and Zyanya- they helped us get an oceanfront room upgrade and proceeded to help us with dinner reservations. The property is spectacular, the room was clean and comfortable, the pools were just perfect and the food was exceptional. I would highly recommend this property and we will be back!

Great clean rooms, wonderful walkways, great restaurants, friendly people ready to help you. Pool was great! Beach was great! Wonderful place to vacation! Zyanda ( one of the staff) was soooo helpful and answered all our questions.
