This is a super pub inn in a small village not too far from the M42 and Solihull. Excellent service, good breakfast and a clean, comfortable room. I would definitely recommend a stay here. They also serve food in the evening.

We had a really pleasant stay despite the persistent rain. The evening meals were both tasty and good value. Decent selection of ales and spirits. We stayed in one of the bungalows which met all our needs

Proper English pub 5 miles from NEC Great atmosphere

Lovely staff , fantastic food.. highly recommend the home made lasagne. Alot of history and character, loved it. Great location for NEC Birmingham. Will be back, Nicki

A friend recommended the White Lion to us as a great place to stay that was handy for the NEC. We enjoy real ale and they served a number of different ales - we tried 2 and they were both excellent and obviously well kept. We ate very well too. We loved the character of the place, from mismatched chairs to pretty china. The staircase to the bedrooms is very steep and our bedroom had a step down into the bathroom. It was warm and cosy and we had lovely big bath towels. We loved our stay and would be very happy to stay here again.

Lovely pub with rooms, staff always welcome, pub grub great, perfect stop for travelling to Birmingham Airport only 4.5 miles away. Second visit this time we were in one of the garden rooms (9) it was quite small, nowhere to sit other than on the bed, nothing can be done to change that but worth a mention, last time we stayed we were in the pub, room slightly bigger, the other thing that could be a small fix, bottle of water in the room as the kettle doesn’t fit under the tap, would improve comfort. Overall good stay.

Good overnight stay for Birmingham Airport travel. Stayed in one of the rooms off the main pub building which needs a bit of updating. Good breakfast and friendly atmosphere in bar for a few drinks in the evening, small carpark to rear of pub.

Lovely little pub with rooms, all very comfortable and clean. I was in the annex building which had been tastefully renovated. Everything you might want and a fab breakfast to boot.

Pleasant pub with good pub food, but my room was a great disappointment. It was not in the pub but was in a single-storey outhouse the other side of the beer garden.My room was so tiny the bed only fitted in with about 2 feet around it. The "bathroom" was just a loo, a tiny basin barely big enough to wash your hands, and a squashed shower cubicle which disdpensed only luke-warm water. I had to keep my toothbrush and razor on the floor. It was insecure - a footpath, accessible from the car park, ran past the small window, which had only a broken lock, so I had to sleep with the window closed - and while it might have been acceptable as a Eastern European truckstop or an army barracks, for £108 it was a joke.

This place has seen better days, my room was the smallest ive ever stayed in and felt damp and unclean, very over priced. Food and drink are good, great breakfast. Probably won't stay here again..

Small but clean accommodation, good food but somewhat limited menu. Best coq au vin I’ve had since France! Be aware that it doesn’t open until 5 some days- I was waiting around for an hour.

A perfect end to my holiday. easy to get to from Birmingham airport and back on the motorway quickly the next morning. Friendly, clean, comfortable and excellent cooked breakfast.

I would definitely stay here again. It was a welcome retreat situated in a pretty village location. I was staying overnight on my own and didn't want to stay in one of the busy large chain hotels. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the pub was typically traditional. My only grumble was the walls were very thin, i had someone staying in the room above, and you could hear every footstep.

We had a room outside the actual pub, so it was very quiet and enjoyable. The staff are naturally happy and friendly, that's what comes from a family run business. Will be staying there again the next time we need to go to the NEC, which is only a few minutes drive away.

The White Lion is a nice pub but, unfortunately, my room was very small with a tiny bathroom. I retired early but the noise from the pub was very loud. Food was ok but not spectacular.

I added a note to the hotel on my booking form to forewarn them I am vegan and would require vegan food for dinner and breakfast. When I arrived there were no vegan options, although I was told that the vegetarian lasagne was vegan and the other option was broccoli and stilton soup … so actually the soup was not vegan due to the cheese ingredient and I had no confidence that the lasagne would genuinely be vegan either. The staff didn’t think they had posted a menu online so the existence of a sample menu for booking remains a mystery. My message to the hotel had either not arrived or not been read - I will never know. Anyway the staff were all genuinely lovely and the chef made me a vegan mushroom risotto for dinner (be warned the specials are quite pricey) and I just had to make the best of breakfast with toast and marmalade, mushrooms, tomato and beans. Overall it’s a nice little, old fashioned (and very old) pub. Rooms are reasonably priced, small but have everything you need (apart from nondairy milk for your tea/ coffee) and the bed was comfy. Quite close to the airport so noisy planes but I slept like a log regardless. Would I stay here again? Good question. I would consider it but would personally phone ahead and agree the vegan options for food and drinks.

The property offers a high standard of basic accommodation. The food was great - a good selection of food and drink - and the service excellent. Not so good was the staircase leading up to the rooms, which was steep, winding and with narrow steps. I appreciate this is a period property and it worked for me; however, those with mobility issues may struggle even with staff assistance. On my visit, the internet was not operational and had not been for several days. It would have been helpful to know this in advance, so I could have prepared to accommodate or, even better, a connection voucher provided by the Inn. This inconvenienced me, yet the Inn offered no compensation for this.

The Room was okay food job I did not rake a cat as the Double bed took up most of the space. But other than that it was acceptable, just! Byt was really has anniyed me was the way the Hotel have dealt with the fact that Hotels .com booke a second room - maybe it was in case I wanted to swing a Cat in the room! When I arrived at the Hotel I raised the matter with them they blamed Hotels.com when I got Home Hotels.com regusef to do anything about approval from the Hotel so nearly 10 days since my stay and after numerous phone calls and chasing eventually got my Refund no thanks to the Hotel as the Woman who spike to the Rep from Horels.com was rude and would not speak to them on the Phone! Not very professional and very rude.

Great place, individual and full of character. In an ideal world it would have EV charging. Not good if you're expecting a lie-in, it's too close to the airport for that!

Perfect stay. Very easy and cheap to get an Uber to the NEC too. Village is really lovely. Great food. Will stay again.

Great room. They had a lovely area for smoking. Breakfast was the best breakfast i have ever had. Tea and coffee in room even provided decaf.
