Rooms were very hot with heater pipes that were very hot and unable to turn off. The spa facilities were extra charges including further extra charges again for hiring a dressing gown and slippers. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was in very good condition and very clean. There was plenty of car parking space and the hotel was just a short 10 minute walk to the shops pubs and restaurants. The heights of Abraham cable cars and railway station were only a 15 to 20 minutes walk away.

Beautiful historic building with ambience and warmth. In need of some light updating but wonderful grounds and location and friendly staff. The spa in tiny but fun and relaxing and we had excellent value for money on our stay.

Great time staying here. We stayed in the annex over-looking the pool. We're going to ask for the same room next time. And there will be a next time. Great open air pool. Only issue was that the pool opening times were really inconvenient and clashed with breakfast / dinner.

Very clean room and excellent outdoor pool

It was great! The staff were nice and approachable. They upgraded our room when I requested a closer room to the entrance as I am 30 weeks pregnant. The spa and pool were amazing as well. We enjoyed it. We'll be back again.

Great hotel, close walk into matlock bath. The Lido was amazing and was definitely a highlight. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly. A lovely stay.

Amazing place to stay. Lido was the reason that we came and were not disappointed. Donna in the Soa was great and very friendly. Only issue was the Spa condition. Sauna is falling apart. Broken wood and exposed nails. Needs a complete renovation as does the steam room which is also old and requires money spent to bring it up to standard

Ideal area to explore many walks and attractions. Outdoor pool and changing area needs updating cleaning . I believe just taken over so staff not up to speed on what facilities are available within the hotel . Rooms need upgrade as electric sockets loose in our room and no nets up at windows so no privacy. Food very good

Great room in the annex, small balcony overlooking beautiful pool. Room comfortable and clean. Could do with more sockets as none near mirrors which is an issue for us ladies! Pool is fab, staff were outstanding (dont forget your swimming hat!! They have plenty to borrow) Breakfast was ok, decent, not a huge choice but nice, again staff were lovely, polite and helpful. Would recommend.

Excellent stay and great location. Just needs a detailed clean. Towel had a couple of marks on. Stain down the side of the bed frame.

This is a all mouth hotel dirty down side of shower screen small room with no air con or. Fan boiling hot inside the room the only nice thing was the outdoor swimming pool

Good location, however needs an overhaul, greasy hand prints on wall (room 66) bathroom sink very very very slow draining (10mins). Previous occupants and cleaner would have known this but nothing done to correct.Sink Hot & Cold plumbed incorrectly H was cold, C was Hot) Shower was good, bedding was clean, beds comfy.

The property itself is pretty tired. We had mould on the bathroom ceiling, and external door that wouldn’t lock (was reported and fixed), blocked sink drainage, mouldy milk in the tea and coffee caddy in the room. In general the place is looking a bit tired. The staff were great and friendly. Breakfast was good with a good choice but the hotel really does feel like it could do with a revamp. Maybe the main hotel building is better but we were in an adjoining building. Location to Matlock bath is excellent couldn’t fault that.

Overall very nice, bed was comfortable and room was quiet facing pool. Just a couple things letting it down, windows were full of hand prints, and black mould in shower area. Did let the management know about mould so hopefully will be dealt with for future guests. Overall we would stay here again.

Staff here are very friendly and helpful. Service for bar was very slow waiting for someone to come to the bar to serve you. We stayed in the annex apartments, which was good size for us as a small family but was disappointed by the fact that the room was dirty, i.e walls with drink spills and food marks. Dust all over the sides under the beds were filthy l, rubbish under there, thick with dust, radiator had rubbish down them too. Bathroom was mouldy all over ceiling with black mould, and side of bath needs fixing. Also bathroom wasnt cleaned very well as there was still scum marks around the bath. If you have children you can only use the pool between 4-5 and only if you wear a swim cap they provide. So i had unhappy kids as we wasn't told that at reception about swim caps, also we was told pool was open to use till close so we went down at 4:45 and had no time to use it. Breakfast is good, nice selection of food, but cooked breakfast was cold and the got water for hot drinks was luke warm. Overall beautiful building,friendly staff. Just needs a good clean, faster service. Also maybe some longer time slots for people with children to use the pool and section some of it off so they can use it throughout the day aswell not just over 18's.

Last minute booking, we were happy to find it as available, nice looking from the outside although I immediately got the vibe that it will be a dated type of property. The reception staff was nice enough, can't fault that. Restaurant was serving its last diners at around 8pm, luckily we had some groceries with us. Upon going upstairs to the room it was evident that the building was in need of some updating, Room itself was a decent size for 2 peole with a double bed, bathroom fairly big but again everything was old looking in dire need of some modernising. Bed itself was dirty looking,due to the fabric that the base was made of, covers looked clean but because of everything around, including a fly and a spider, i didn't sleep very well, especially as we had our 3 year old daughter with us with whom we shared the double bed, it was very tight. Walls in need of a proper do over but otherwise surprisingly quite. Ok if you don't mind any of the stuff mentioned, maybe we would've been more understanding had we paid less on the one night stay. Again, last minute booking in an area that is of high demand so taking the responsibility over our choice of hotel. Would go back if it goes through an update.

The "Geothermal pool" was absolutely freezing and gross! The floor was so dirty. Our room was nothing from what we seen from the pictures on Hotels.com. Very outdated bathroom which had mould and someone else's body hairs. Went down to reception to change room. Breakfast selection very poor. There was lots of people complaining about the service of the spa and other things with the hotel too.

Overall a nice enough stay. We were in the 'annex' rather than the main hotel which is significantly less fancy. It's currently being renovated which is great but there were workmen around all day and into the evening, and our freshly painted room smelt so strong of paint fumes.

Great hotel, specious family room with a balcony and a short to the centre of Matlock Bath.

Stayed here a few times. As a keen open water swimmer I love the access to the geothermal lido pool. Also, a great location for exploring and walking the local area. We stay in the annexe building with a view out to the pool. Bathrooms are a little dated but good shower pressure and very clean. We like the access to the little balcony as well. Somewhere to keep muddy boots and wet swim kit. Only scored it a little lower this time because the restaurant was out of action for evening meal. Although we were notified 4 days in advance by email.

Two generous starts. Our family room was very tiny. And it was not in the main hotel building that you see when you arrive. It was further around the block cheap looking add-on dated building. Only 2 beds and space to walk around the. For 4 people is is bad deal, considering price and location. Water in toiletries.

Nice location and impressive looking from the outside. Inside the hotel needs some TLC - paint chipped, plaster coming off in chunks, threadbare carpets etc. The room i booked was labelled as 'superior double'. It was a box room. Didn't appear to be a double bed and it was uncomfortable spring mattress. The bedding didn't seem too clean either, with grease stains on the pillows. I wouldn't have called this room superior at all. The food in the restaurant was nice, we were waiting a while for service in the bar, i ordered a small white wine which turned out to be a medium with strange floaters in the glass - my husband isn't as put off by things like that so we did a drink swap. Don't think I'd be in a rush to return

Upon arrival to our room the sash windows were wide open, we tried to close them to leave them open about an inch and they were screwed so unable to close them, this meant that early on sunday morning there was a lot of noise from the people queuing to get in the outdoor pool. also the shower in the room had no pressure whatsoever so it was freezing cold and dribbled hot water. The bed was comfy although it was quite small. Tea and coffee facilities were good in the room. The room was quiet all night til the morning queues

Paid extra for a Superior Room, well if that was Superior then I wouldn’t want to see the others. Carpet was badly stained. The view out of the window was terrible. Spoke to receptionist who said that it was an old hotel so it is what it is. For £198 for one night it was vastly overpriced.

Don't get me wrong, I like this hotel and surrounding area, but this room could do with a little tlc and refresh of paint. There was a coffee stain on carpet, dead spider on upper part of ceiling, scuff marks and dust around skirting and window sill. For a family room that sleeps 4, there were 3 adults but we only had towels for 2 people and only 2 chairs on balcony. That said, I would still stay here again.

Customer service was fantastic here. I visited during a heatwave and the receptionist sorted me out a fan for my room which was amazing - I would not have got much sleep without it! Food ont he restaurant was delicious and good value and again the service was very good, friendly and helpful.

Staff very polite and helpful even after the wait for the room, the lovely receptionist went above and beyond to ensure our room was correct. This is the 3rd time stopping here and will not be the last.

Bed was really uncomfortable, there wasn’t any hot water for a shower in the morning. The hotel staff were not very helpful when we reported the problem.

As usual a fantastic welcome when i got to the New Bath. I had one of the Balcony Rooms facing the pool, they have been redecorated to a high standard with an amazing shower. The bar is now open to quite late which helps when you have been out late and fancy a night cap. The food is lovely and nothing is too much for all the staff.

The property was clean and the staff and service were amazing. We kindly got an upgrade to our room with was a lovely surprise for our anniversary which truly set the stay to good start. They also fulfilled our special request for the room which was very kind of them also.

It was a good experience though it wasbjust for a night. Walking distance to heights if Abraham and town centre. Staff are so friendly and respectful. Even met someone from our hometown which was a bonus.

Great time here, close to matlock bath

Starting here on my own as a single woman I felt safe. My room, bathroom and the communal facilities were really clean, although there were signs of wear in a couple of places, for example the bed base. I was in the original hotel, where the building itself could do with some attention in places (window ledges, etc) which I hope they attend to because it's a beautiful building in a wonderful location. It's easy to get to on the edge of Matlock Bath and has plenty of parking. The pool is *amazing*, and I would definitely go back just to use that again.

Excellent position

Parking is on site and very close to the hotel front. Easy and quick check-in. Large open lobby. Staff were polite and helpful. Found the room easily. Quite spacious and very clean. Tea and coffee making facilities were fully stocked. TV was in full working order. Comfy bed and clean bedding. Plenty hanging space for clothes. Bathroom was very clean and modern. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were available to use. Only stayed one night, but would stay again. Didn't have the breakfast and didn't eat in the restaurant, as we ate out in town.

Had an impromptu night away over Bank Holiday. We picked the 1st sunny weekend and Matlock was packed with tourists. The hotel is nice, reception were very pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. TV didn't work, but we weren't in the room to watch TV. My only small complaint is the bar is open all day, but it can be a bit tricky to find someone to serve. It's also only open until 22:00 and the restaurant stops serving food at 20:00. It would have been nice to have a few nights here and to sample the spa and outdoor pool.

The hotel is in close proximity to a famous UNESCO site (industrial revolution), also suitably placed for touring the wonderful Peak District.

Hotel was very convenient for my business meeting, with good parking facilities and an interesting building with a grat history. The evening dinner and a lack of a lift and air conditioning were disappointing.

Nice place. We had a lovely time. The location is great and there is plenty of free parking.

The staff were very nice but our twin room No.16 was small and dreary, even though it was supposed to be a superior room. The bathroom up a few steps was very nice but could have done with a blind. We ate in the hotel, breakfast passable although just apple in the fruit salad. Our first night we had fish and chips in the restaurant which was very nice but the second night (Sunday) the menu was very limited as we were told we could not have a roast dinner as they had run out of beef. I did not want fish again so I opted for the vegetarian option which was a mushroom en croute which was passable but it was served with a cold hard Yorkshire pudding and and two hard balls of sage and onion stuffing. They said it would be served with seasonal vegetables, but this consisted of a small piece of potato, one piece of stem broccoli and a piece of carrot. My husband had the salmon which he said was very nice. It is a shame that we did not enjoy our stay at the hotel as it was in a lovely position and had plenty of parking.

Nice country hotel (though actually on edge of town, easily walkable), lovely surroundings. Staff were great. Lido neat feature thoygh we did not use it, weather was dry enough. Only downside was breakfast was continental only, which is fine, but what was available was very ordinary. This did not inspire us to book dinner.

Breakfast: asked for a decaf coffee, was only offered Nescafe instant sachets. You don't pay £18 or whatever for a hotel breakfast to get instant coffee just because you ask for decaf, and this has never happened at any other hotel or b&b I've ever been to. If someone asks for a decaf, you go and make them a proper one from a coffee machine or bring them a cafetiere of it to the table!

Let down by the breakfasts very poor selection. Would stay again but would book without breakfast.

The hotel was clean, the staff really friendly and polite and helpful and our room was lovely with good facilities. Parking was very easy. Its in a great location and there was a nice bar area. However, sadly the food was not great. We had pizza in the bar in the evening - these were clearly very cheap frozen pizzas that hadn't been cooked properly and were very expensive for what they were. Considering they were the same price as a pizza restaurant with real pizzas, these were awful and sadly inedible. The accompanying salad as average at best. Then at breakfast the entire plate of yoghurts were out of date, which I had to point out. They were then removed, but shouldn't have been out in the first place. Then there were no more yoghurts available apparently. I find it odd in a hotel of that size that there were no fresh yoghurts and no fruit for breakfast either. The chocolate and vanilla muffins were clearly stale and also inedible. Also, and I know this is tricky but in the bar area, where I was with my son, there were several guests who were swearing continually and talking about incredibly inappropriate things for my son to hear. I realise it was a bar area but it is also for families and I do feel that a manager or someone should have stepped in to perhaps ask them to be quieter or to stop swearing. It was quite incredible that every other word was swearing and it was highly embarrassing the topics they were talking about. I didn't feel this was appropriate

Everything in the rooms was very clean. Some upgrading work still ongoing to the outside of the annexe building but not disruptive. Staff were excellent and always very helpful. Breakfasts were good and well managed. Restaurant was good but menu perhaps a little more limited than I might have expected.
