Hotel Ísland - Comfort

The staff was extremely friendly! The hotel was dated but parking was easy, it was nice and quiet, driving distance was about 7 min from Reykjavik and 3-5 min from a lot of amazing things and food. Would go again.

We checked in on May 18th to May 21st 2025. The front desk receptionist was very accommodating and always responded email communications in a timely manner. The staff were very friendly and courteous and helpful in answering questions. The property is located close to Reykjavik. I noticed convenience stores and gas stations around the area. Since rented the car, we didn’t take any public transportation. Lots of parking and free! There is a restaurant within the hotel but since we went out early and came back late at night, we didn’t get the chance to try their food but upon checking in… I noticed they were busy, I guess it must be good as I could smell deliciousness in the air. Lol We booked a room with three individual beds but were provided with four single beds placed together ( two double beds). They were so comfortable. My husband found the temperature in the room a bit too warm but it was perfect for me. Tea and coffee were complimentary and there was a hair dryer too. The room was spacious, clean and tidy. I wished they had a single couch or something would have been better as it was a room for more than two people. Although, there was a stool though. The bathroom was clean too, only there was no exhaust vent. Other than that we were very happy with our stay at Hotel Island Spa and wellness. Thank you for the comfortable stay! I have already recommended this hotel to many of my family, friends and colleagues. If opportunity comes, I will definitely want to stay there.

Hotel is in a convinent location, a shopping mall is close. Room is nice and clean. Free parking. Check in quick and smooth. The staff is very friendly.

The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Free car park on site. It’s a good place to stay if you have a car and want a bigger room with free car park compared to P1 zone accommodation. It’s common to have water with sulphur in Iceland.

After a stay in downtown Reykjavik, where parking was a struggle after every outing... we chose to find a hotel with free parking for our 2nd Icelandic stopover. Nice quiet twin room with generous bath & walk-in shower. Easy drive to town, NW for sightseeing, or E to airport. 24/7 desk opened the bar for consolation drink when we struck out with Northern lights and returned after midnight. Breakfast buffet was reasonably priced and adequate, not noteworthy.

The water had a very strong sulfur smell

We stayed only one night there before taking our early morning flight. It is a basic hotel. But the shower was broken and soap dispenser was not functioning. No time to call to change these issues. Just slept and left. Could have had a better experience.

Friendly staff at first; The room looks clean when I walked in, but the bedding was….. a side of bed was clean but the other side was .. lot of short hairs under pillow

Bathrooms smelled a lot and even water was impure which is rare in iceland.

This was a very nice hotel, we stayed here for our first night in Iceland. The reception was very helpful and nice, making check in easy. The rooms were very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The only issue we had was the shower water temperature being wayyy too hot as the gauge seemed broken beforehand. We waited to see if the water would cool down after some time and it did not. The faucet ran very hot after that as well.

Lack of some basic stuff that you have to ask for. No microwave or fridge in the room.

Room was great. It would be great if the rooms were as updated as the lobby area. The rooms are a little dated and thr hallways leading to the rooms have the grandma's house smell, but overall it was good. I'd come back.

Good value, very helpful staff, but missing some things Americans expect. There were no USB ports or mini fridge in the room. On the other hand, the staff offered to refrigerate things for us. It was cool enough out that we were able to use the balcony to keep things cool. It was what we needed at an affordable price and staff went out of their way for us. The only real downsides were that the beds were quite soft (though this is common in Europe) and the tap water smelled like sulfur.

The building looks new but inside it needs TLC. The room we got had a broken window which would not close. The cold wind kept blowing in all night along with the massive road noise. For almost $300 spent/night it was a waste of money. The only saving grace was the awesome lady at the front desk who was very professional

We found the hotel very affordable and adequate to our needs. Breakfast was solid and those working in the hotel were very professional and polite. Rooms, however, are VERY hot due to poor ventilation in the summer and, as others have mentioned, the water has a very strong sulphur smell.

The place was kind of mid for what was supposed to be an upgrade from their other property that was being renovated. Street noise outside was super loud, flags were clanging all night, room was very small. Refrigerator didn't work, no microwave, no plasticware, so don't bring groceries here. But at least they offered to keep our stuff in an extra refrigerator.

Emilia at the front desk was super helpful and went out of her way to make us feel welcomed. She answered all my questions from places to eat to sightseeing places that we wanted to visit. Hotels need more people like her at their front counters.

The front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful with local attractions and tips for visitors. They also went above and beyond in helping us resolving issues with our credit cards were locked by the credit card companies.

The room was great! The staff were very helpful and we were able to get an early check in since our flight landed at 7am. Hotel was very quiet and nice! Definitely worth a try!

Our stay was comfortable and was a good location for us. We are staying there again next week on the last night of our Icelandic stay. As well, the receptionist Blanca (?) was very helpful when we ran into difficulties booking ferry tickets. We are so very appreciative of her professional and efficient manner.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The front desk staff was the most helpful and friendly of any hotel I’ve ever stayed. They were like a personal concierge. They called for transportation and made numerous recommendations for food and activities. They were also happy to answer our many questions.

The staff here are amazing! Very accomidating and happy to help. Facilities are a little noisy, but no worse than any hotel by a highway.

Catarina was wonderful she was able to assist us with questions and our early check in arrival. There is also a wonderful Italian pizza place around the corner ate there 4 times during our stay. Tour pick ups do not pass by there :( we had to pay for taxi pickups and drop offs

Breakfast had a huge selection and accommodated many diets. Excellent! Rooms were clean but had no air conditioning. It was noisy as the hotel is located beside a major highway. Staff were kind, knowledgeable and helpful.

Great location near the highway and close to dining options and mall. Love how they offer breakfast to go for early outtings.

The dining area is a bit chaotic particularly when a group is in. It seems the staff tries to verify your reservation which make the dining experience really BAD… The manager should be revisit the procedure

We were a little surprised at how outdated the room was. It seemed clean, but all the furniture and fixtures were very old. There was a pipe sort of thing protruding from the wall in the bathroom that they had wrapped with duct tape. Breakfast was really good! The staff was nice.

the people were great, the food was too, and it was clean. The hours for breakfast were generous. Our deadbolt didn't work. Our only window immediately faced the freeway, and you could hear the cars all the time.
